People NEVER look like that when they actually have a decision. After looking like that, if people have a bad hand, they realize they have given a tell about the weak strength of their hand and fold 99% of the time. Looking like that and then calling is 99% of the time a nutty hand.
But yea, it works against level 1 players.
That guy playing against Maria Ho looked like that. He was either mega-levelling, or he acted on the turn like he was calling off all his chips and didn't have to worry about his demeanor at all, counting his stack over and over.
Then on the river which likely completed his straight, he thought forever and finally led with a min-bet for like 2/3 of his remaining stack. He literally never thought about the signals he was giving off.
Again, or he's a hell of an actor. Presumably she had played with him long enough to suss that out.

I saw that hand and I agree. Maria looked confident and seemed to have a good read on her opponent, and you could feel the power dynamics in the hand change when the 9♦ fell on the river. Her physical hand immediately after the 250k bet moved to fold her hand before thinking it over.
If you watch the hand it is all so obvious. The turn call after much thought and stack counting and the quickly calculated river raise; its hard to do that performatively(ie mega leveling ) against a pro late at night and I would be very suprised if Maria wasnt in fact ahead on the flop and turn and got outdrawn on the river.
I consider day 5 to be a deep run, and day 6 to be my favorite day of the tournament. We are down to about 50 tables; the ocean of tables is gone and now the railbirds begin to out number the players.
Wow. Idk why but a poker player using more water than Floyd Mayweather just seems insane to me.
I was banned from Triton Stream (Rast was commentating) for asking if he had a comment about his water usage.. People should start hounding him about it until he makes a comment on whats going on.
How terminal is Cody Daniels if he just keep coming back for free main event buy ins? Could this be a scam? It wouldn't be the first time.
Yea theres a ton of people who would have sattied in, or won another tournament recently and are taking a huge shot etc. 15k is a lot of money for plenty of players. Even many of the (non top) regs will be taking shots way above their bankroll (how many people legitimately have a big enough bankroll for the ME?) in the main and see 15k as a big number.
Didn't realize Antoine Saout is still out there. It's early days still, but if he somehow makes the final 27 again, it would be an impressive feat.
In terms of big names, Stephen Song has been cleaning up the mid-stakes circuit for a couple years, but is still somewhat unknown to the more casual viewing audience. This would be a good opportunity for him to have a breakthrough win in a major televised event.
Yeah, this comment is really out-of-touch and entitled.
People who are stalling on the bubble of the Main Event are less experienced players with very short stacks. They aren't ever going to be making $10M, or even $1M, in this event. But by stalling, they are almost certainly going to make $15,000.
Plus, the bubble is like one hour out of an 80+ hour event.
Have a little bit of patience with the people who ultimately pay for your livelihood.

They don't "make" 15000, they "make" 5000 and then have to pay taxes on it so like 3750 and then their expenses and etc.
I get that most people can't afford to just lose 10,000 dollars but maybe those are the people who shouldn't spend 10,000 dollars on a tournament where their best hope is to stall to a min cash that probably nets them nothing
What % of the field actually bought in for the full 10k do you reckon?
Lena900 still in. LFG

This is not how math works. If they bust before the bubble, they receive $0. If they bust right after the bubble, they receive $15,000. They absolutely make 15k by not bubbling. Also they pay their trip expenses regardless of whether or not they bubble so to arbitrarily discount them from any profit is once again, not how math works.
Also it's not like these people go into the main planning on stalling until the bubble, but once you get to the bubble with sub 10bbs, you become very incentivized to do so. People have been stalling on bubbles and pay jumps forever. This is not new and is not exclusive to the main.
I respect coordi and nickmpk immensely but I disagree. If we assume rational actors or anything close to it texaskk’s comment makes no sense. But I am also from Texas and can confirm that for a lot of people in the main event 15k is life changing money. His comment is correct even though it shouldnt be.
