Stephen Song is one of the large-field MTT endbosses and was probably one of the highest EV picks in the world going into this event, so if you are looking for entertainment, you should be rooting for him to get some TV time. I promise you he didn't get these chips just by nitting it up and coolering people.

He was 2022 GPI POY and GPI mid-major player of the year. Won a large-field NLHE bracelet in 2019 and took down the 5,430 entry WPT Prime in 2022.

We saw him 3 betting weak hands and running over the table yesterday, as well as extracting max value when he had aces etc. Clearly a very good player, would love him to be on the next feature table.

Pink, not orange then

Lon doesn't even recognize the pot will be chopped w a straight

what a joke having him do live poker broadcasts

I always liked Lon on the old-school ESPN broadcasts but man he is just brutal on a live show. Constantly missing outs from the hand that's behind so he doesn't even realize who wins the hand. It's rough.

I get even high-level players on commentary will occasionally miss a few things here and there when it's live, but with Lon it seems to happen every 5 minutes.

I like Lon's hype man commentary, but his poker IQ has hovered around 81 for his entire time as the voice of the WSOP.

Watching with him commentating i am eagerly waiting for him to misread the board. It’s part of the fun. Earlier there was an allin with AK against 55 and he didn’t notice 55 flopped a set on the A high board, it took him until the turn to realize 55 was way ahead.

Absolutely. Anybody who follows US tournaments is used to seeing his name in results and seeing him with literal mounds of chips in seemingly every tournament he plays

Both true and it was pretty cringeworthy to listen/see in real time. To be fair though, Ali Nejad who is great and who this thread loves also misread some action in real time yesterday.

Foxen opening too wide.
UTG+1 K9o. UTG A8o. 3Bet QTo.
Gets jammed on every time.

That works when you are intimidating superpro like Mateos or Song, but no one is overfolding against a pretty woman at the tables, that is a well known population tendency.

She should be playing normal ranges pre, postflop she can take the bluffs.

And yeah the play with AKs against Tony was very passive, I think those hands and board should be able to GII.

Seems like this table has a read on Foxen.

she's been a little too aggressive is all though I would've jammed the AK on tony but obv calling is fine

da fk was that

WOW

Wow sick hand

PokerGO producers had to hate that turn card. They need Foxen going deep as the story this year

They were hoping to make AK great again.

The on-demand video has the missing footage where the stream cut out during the Lococo A3/A4 hand. Day 5, Part 1, Level 2, hand starts at 1:01:20. Turn was a blank but Lu rivered a pair of 4s. Brutal.

thx for the timestamp

just watched it

anybody have the episode/timestamp of the Mateos KK fold?

Anyone know the training site adrian mateos is a part of? I thought I heard they were following him during the main event and it would be in youtube.

They did a great WSOP series of YouTube videos a few years ago tracking their players.

They still do. Inside the Mind of a Pro. Fantastic series on YouTube.

They usually come out with the previous WSOP edition a few months after the series. Really looking forward to seeing his segment for this run.
