Brandon Cantu has done an amazing job of folding his way into a top 60 finish,
and a cash of at least $160K.

Final table appearance now locked up for Cantu.

pretty good Day 6 with
Cantu adding some annoyance/levity.

by SootedPowa k

Yeah that was a decent day 6. Honestly Cantu is a tool but I want him to make the final now.

You can’t spell Cantu without c u n t. Let that sink in.

Notable to day 7 Brandon Cantu

Brandon Cantu needs to final table this, and then finish high up, for the dozens of people he owes money to, to have any chance of getting their money back

Pretty cool - they filmed this during the $500 opening event. I saw the camera crew following Maria and wondered what it was about.

My back makes a cameo around the 5:30 mark.

It would be cool if we had a 2012 situation with both women making final two tables and pushing for the final one. They have the chip position to do so, let's see how Day 7 plays for each of them.

Baumann and Hille came so close to making the final table in 2012. Really hope a woman makes it this time; would be fantastic for the game and its image. Poker will not experience its true potential until more women start playing.

Foxen with Lena900 to her immediate left, not the best table draw or seat.

The feature table has too many strong players. Really unfair to stack one table so much. I don't think Foxen will be able to survive Day 7.

That AQss call is certainly one of the calls all time.

Not sure about that AQs call.

Hopefully this should be a good day 7, cmon Foxen/Astedt/Cantu/others I have forgotten right now.

Is the 72o 4 bettor still in? If so hope we see him also. And the dude with the ducks?

The 72o guy, Lingkun Lu, was eliminated on Day 6. He finished like 122nd. The ducks guy is still in.

either you hide it well, or you need a new undertitle

Cantu figured he'd just sleep in and let the dealer fold for him.

Shundan Xiao, the Google software engineer, is the chip leader after check raising Foxen on the flop of 245 with QQ. Foxen had AJ and folded.

Astedt's just playing ABC poker and constantly chipping up. Getting shoved into with AA helped.

Ok the ducks are getting out of hand

Just lost to aces full huh, hawk-ward

Can't believe he tanked that long and called. Bad call.

fowl play and quacked vibes

Ugh. Foxen lost nearly half her stack already.

I play 5 and 6 card PLO, so am way out of touch with NLHE, but isn't that small check/raise by Foxen bad? Seems like it just folds out most stuff you beat, and they'll continue only when way ahead. Don't really need protection against 99-KK either.

by Utah_CUtiger k

Yeah Montoya was not like a massive villain or bad guy, just kind of annoying and fun to root against. But it's good to see a 22 year old make it this far, need more young people in the game. Seems to be fewer young guns these days. He reminded me of that Kevin Maahs character at the final table a few years ago, except he was actually worse with intentional tanking with one table left.

by Fossilkid93 k

Even more annoying was the way he was snapping his chips together in a constant, loud manner right into his mic. I don't normal chip shuffling, but that was annoying as hell.

Sometimes in my games very young players sit down. They often dont know how to act. Its little things and they stick out. Often, a very young players end up discussing strategy with me whether I want them to or not. They often pick me because my play stands out as very good and I look younger than I am. They often want to talk about things that I could never imagine wanting to talk about at the table or on break, including ranges, nash equilibrium, and gto stuff.
As a teen, hawkins table talk in day 6 or day 7 in last years world series is the table talk I am used to. I am used to people talking about how many 8’s there have been dealt on flops and how “thats why I never play AK”not gto stuff! Im like please stop talking about ranges but of course I dont say that.
But its not just because of strat, its also that my actual thought process is very mature and I wouldnt be able to explain it to them even if I wanted

They also just have a general distance from the casino environment, I can feel the kinds of judgements they are making, I know what its like to be 21 and come into a casino and think wow what a bunch of crazy weirdos! They misjudge people and situations. Often when they leave some of the regs will say wow , that is a young poker player! What is meant is that if they were say 25 and have a year or so experience no way they would act like that.

Of course, im never mad at these 21 or 18 year olds, even if their lack of poker etiquette understanding messes things up. I enjoy their company, especially ESPECIALLY if they are way over confident. I have seen 21 year olds lecture people like Blaire Hinkle about game theory lol.

One time this fresh faced guy aggressively yelled at me for two minutes about combinatorics, told me I was the dumbest person he had met in his life and that I needed to remember him forever and that I could just call him the cinncinati kid!

My brain was like: wtf lol

but my body was like :

I like players with a boyish energy.

I didnt understand it either, especially after the sb flatted the pfraisers cbet. But I am nowhere near her level, the solvers must raise it sometimes I guess.

It's one of those spots where anything you do is going to look super strong. Can't imagine what hands she'd be flatting there with that don't contain an ace.
