Tough to beat the best player in the world when he wins every 70/30.

Ax suited still isn't getting the price right knowing it's not good he's a bit of a gambler

astedt 223 tamayo 197, griff 187

its a little closer with it being a 1 gapper and despite how card dead Sagle was that was still essentially top of his range in that spot

he made a straight on the Kanter

He also lost a 70/30 and got coolered with a set vs a straight.

He’s not running bad but he’s also not running like a God.

I'm shocked that Astedt doesn't have 2/3 of the chips in play especially after the Brian Kim collapse. Although I'm curious to see if Tamayo will nit fold from 3rd to 2nd with no chips left just to pay jump another 2M. Or will he finally go for it heads up (if he gets there)?

another old man hollywood from Sagle with JJ

basically a dream run for Sagle getting 4th. About as good as could be expected for him, particularly with the cards he got

I've been impressed with Griff. very good player for an amateur

by theporkchop k

I didn't say he was good at it but he's firmly not a nit

If you pretend to play solver approved but then you err on the extreme nitty side every time and make 6 figure mistakes due to being too nitty then yea, you are a huge ****ing NIT. Tamayo is the prime example of a nit masquerading as a GTO player. Using GTO as reason to play nitty/"ICM aware" but then never doing it when GTO advocates aggressive play.

Tamayo is going to win isnt he?... Poker gods rewarding nit pros, hate to see it.

ICM values

Lena $6.88m
Tamayo $6.66m
Griff $6.50m

two of the three of them would/should snap take that chop. I wonder what Lena would need to chop

Sagle saying it was a bad day for him is a joke. He folded to $2,000,000

He’s not “masquerading” as anything. He’s just playing cards, man.

How can anyone complain about Lon and Norm the banter has been amazing. And Lon even though his vocab for poker isn't GTO he's done a good job of reading the action tonight

Worst take of the thread. They make the entire process of watching the WSOP worse.

Actually it was a pretty good take. No way they are worse that Ali, who talks like this guy:

and laughs like:

I'm not really a huge norm and lon guy but I thought they did pretty good at the final table. I also enjoyed the breaks with Ali and Nick.

Lena's true value is probably in the 7.5M-8M region. He might still be the favorite if it was 2 vs 1 and they were card sharing vs him.

The dream is to cut Griff down, then leverage Tamayo out of every significant pot until Griff busts or doubles. If Griff gets short, Tamayo is likely to turtle for the ladder. Where as if Tamayo gets short, idk how much Griff adjusts.

Griff is the wildcard, 47k lifetime, essentially freerolling, position on Lena, he can play with the most freedom. Rooting for dude.

Griff's tanking was unbearable. Not rooting for the dude.

Joe McKeehen on Tamayo's rail looked unbearable.

I think Kim more likely blows up

Epic punt

Final table end of day 1 chip counts:

Jordan Griff 98,600 1D
Brian Kim 157,000 1D
Niklas Astedt 114,000 1B
Joe Serock 192,600 1D
Jason Sagle 139,700 1D
Boris Angelov 52,500 1C
Jonathan Tamayo Registered 2D
Malo Latinois 70,800 1D
Andres Gonzalez 98,800 1A

Last night on stream Tamayo said his bag was lost so it was not recorded in the chip counts. He played 1D.

Super weird seeing Ali and Schulman as the sideline reporters. Such a shame they weren't in the booth.

Lon and Norm were awesome in the edited classics. They are not built for live commentary. If the shows are being edited down then just do what they did before and have Lon and Norm add the commentary after the fact. For the live stream, however, have the A team or some combination of Schulman, Ali, Maria, Kerstetter, Platt, Hanks, Rast, etc...........anybody but Lon and Norm.

How would you rate bust out hands of Rast, Foxen, Serock, and Kim from least punty to most?

by Defarse k

Joe McKeehen on Tamayo's rail looked unbearable.

When Tamayo spiked the K on the flop to bust Angelov, it looked like McKeehan was yelling something in the direction of Angelov and is rail. Seemed really strange.

It was super cringey. It's like it's his first time having friends and doesn't know how to handle it.

Correct. Lon and Norm should have been the ones on the break desk.
