hard to believe astedt is gonna make a deal with a guy with 47k career live winnings

Griff knows small ball approach isn't the best chance in this spot for him to win and well he almost just shipped it right there playing big balls griff.

I have no idea how deals work at this level. I was just going with what the thread seemed to think.

Just got home from work and put it on - what the heck happened with Astedt?!???

Opened KJo, Griff 3b 99 from SB.
T92ddc flop, Griff lead and Astedt called
Jc turn, Griff jammed for 1.5x pot and Astedt called off

Go Griff!!

A game of flips.

Sorry Maria, but 3-betting pocket 6s heads up isn’t “overplaying middling pairs.”

Wow.a lot of punts at the final two tables

Hagler vs. Hearns

I didn't think there could be any vocation Maria was less competent at than playing poker. I've been proven wrong.

JFC Lon. "Griff catches a 7... ... ... ... and a nice draw".

Maria says nothing.

He's got a pair and an open-ended S/F draw and the announcers act like it's J72 rainbow.

There was also that K7K74 board. The river comes, and Lon says "Griff hits his four."

No opinions on Tamayo's rail apparently entering hands into a solver? I thought there would be some chatter here.

Obviously, to me it's neither here nor there, as the RT has been removed from RTA. Plus, I'm sure that has been going on forever in the era of the live+30 coverage. This is just the first time it has been so out in the open. But given some of the convo in other threads, I expected it to be a hot topic.

I hate it too, bubble the players away from the rail probably isn't feasible though. It'd be ridiculous to see in other sports or events or games you can just go up to the crowd for advice in the middle of the game.

a McKeehan/Nitschke duo in his corner shows how dorky a ME champ Tamayo would be.

Nitschke seems likeable enough, McKeehan clearly not, but I'm rooting for Griff 100% here.

although Griff limping AA on the button is gonna cost him huge here and is really dumb in general given how aggressive he's been

I think you sum in up pretty well.

This is nothing new at the top level of competition in the vast majority of sports/games. When the Chiefs defense on the field, Mahomes is talking with fellow players and coaches. Reviewing previous plays, going over the opponent's defense and how to best attack it. It's just that poker has become such a mathematical game that solvers are used now.

tamayo made some of the ridiculous to one preflop open folds I've ever seen DOESN"T MATTER WON

Well played

McKeehan acting awfully creepy there. Let him go and celebrate!

awkward celebration from the nerd rail

That is a team game not an individual one and they don't go into the crowd for advice in the game, the coaches and teammates are all known by everyone.

I actually can't think of an individual game that lets you talk to others in the middle of the game, they don't in chess. They can talk between games tho.

Yeah that rail was a little freak show

Winner of ME stopped mattering over a decade ago, unless maybe a woman wins it, but was on Team Griff

I mean they talk to coaches and are told exactly what to do in many cases. Many sports are more and more analytical/tactical these days.

In terms of sports, I guess golf would be the closest, but even that's a limited analog – ultimately, the player is the one having to execute the shot.

Again, I don't think it's that big a deal, but PG chat was losing its **** throughout.

Is there really such a thing as an individual game? Everybody has coaches and whatnot that help them out. How about MMA? Coaches are shouting out things to their fighters in the middle of the bout.

I just don't see any practical way of trying to ban it short of locking the players in a cage and not letting them converse with anybody on the rail except for breaks. Which seems a bit extreme and unlikely to ever happen, so just accept it.
