Most people who say stuff like "people sucked back then" seem to believe that if they had the chance to play back in 2003 they would have been a DNegs level poker legend now. As if winning back then took zero ability. In reality, 99.99% of people talking about how bad people were back in the day would be destroyed not only by 2003 DNegs, but by 2003 Mike Matusow as well if they were dropped into 2003 poker scene with only the learning material that was available at the time.

If you're talking about Negreanu, I remember that years ago one of our moderators banned him for one day. But I never banned him.

That moderator did contact me a few minutes before he banned him and wanted to give him three days off but I suggested that he make it for one day, and that's what was done.

It seems likely that GG deposits money into Negreanu’s bank account. That money then splashes around and commingles with other money in that account. Buyins for entries are paid out of that account but what specific dollars are used who knows.

Well, however they pay him, they want him playing a lot of events and high buyin events. They want vlogs that attract attention and want him to win a bracelet, make final tables, etc., preferably in prestigious events.

Oh I actually agree with you. People back then had to think things through,try and figure out strategies others were employing, adjust to different things on the fly etc..

It’s quite obvious that they are paying him the salary they do because he plays so many events and they would stop if he spent the summer on his couch. But he’s gone nuts playing as much as he can at wsop prior to being sponsored by anyone.

Anyone one else have a Stake in DNegs Summer Package on Poker Stake and then you get it all taken away? It was my first time getting through and I got a piece .01% then I found out today they took it all away. Who else had this happend to them?

Trolls aren't the main reason. Other forums like on RIO are deader. Poker is not as booming. People don't want to share high level strategy. People spend their time with solvers and watching videos.

NVG was a lot worse in the poker boom, with people who mainly watched poker on TV posting.

I don't think GG have any say in who gets banned here.

Some people are so bad at adjusting and thinking on the fly its baffling. Like you can have some guy who is crushing a live low stakes NL game, seems like a great player. Doesnt even have to be a nit, can be willing to fire some good aggressive bluffs for stacks. But then that same guy will get his panties in a twist and literally sit out instead of playing if you introduce more "unstudied" elements like bomb pots, 7-2 game or stand up game. Even though people on average play even worse with those elements added and the EV of anyone whos actually a good player increases.

Ironically players like this are also the ones most likely to lament "why oh why wasnt I born 20 years earlier so I could have come into poker before the boom"..
