Lol to my credit, having internet connection issues where I'm at due to big storm that came through last night and couldn't get to the secret menu.

You are fine. It wasn't obvious to me, either.

👍

now i really want to go

Haha one time i showed up and i saw a bunch of roughish looking guys hanging out around it all chain smoking. Was afraid they were waiting for a table. I then realized the AA place in the plaza just finished a session of probably people in a court ordered meeting.

I went to POP’s Philly cheesesteaks that’s right there on a Friday night once at 3am and survived so no worries at Lou’s.

I’m also intrigued by the pimento omelet on the secret menu. Maybe I can get the Reuben omelet with pimento subbed for Swiss.

We can buddy up. Picking up chicks at AA/GA meetings like shooting fish in a barrel.

Hi my name is Bob, can I take you out for a drink after this is over?

IL fonaio bar at nyny easily has the best happy hour deals of a strip hotel. medium sausage pie or margarita for 13 or 15 dollars. easily feeds 2 .

2-6pm

calamari and the meatballs also good on that happy hour menu

have you guys read Choke by Chuck Palahniuk?
they also made a movie from it
seems to be the most straightforward approach

Fun Fact: My first and so far last wife was/still is an American Airlines flight attendant. ✈️

Winnie and Ethel's Downtown Diner ( next to Yukon Pizza) is a damn good modern take on the American diner. Their breakfast is great and I love their BLT.

Tried the peppered duck and goat cheese terrine at Bavette’s and was surprised how much I liked it given that I’m not big on duck. $22 and highly recommend, easily enough for an entire meal:

I'm a sucker for a good modern take on American diners.

Love duck terrine. What flavour was the jam?

I was just there. I had the southern breakfast, which is a nice sampler plate with grits, a biscuit and gravy and a bunch of pork.

Service was good, atmosphere was cool, it wasn't too crowded or expensive.

They apparently don't serve wheat bread, which is my preferred toast. Kind of weird.

It's right next to Yukon Pizza, a deserving thread favorite. Maybe I should try the barber shop that's there too.

Apricot. Everything together in one bite was amazing

Yum! And yes, the sweetness combo of jam with terrine and the toast/bread makes all the difference

Someone asked in LVL about meetups. Reminds me we did a handful of dinners ca. 2014 and 2015. I’d be happy to help plan if there was interest in something like this.

Ate at Best Friend on Tuesday. The food was all pretty good, if a tad overpriced. But the service was just straight terrible. Drinks took forever to arrive, after out first plates had been dropped, and not once when delivering our food did a server or runner say what they were giving us. There were six of us, and not one of us even remotely enjoyed the dinner experience. It was really too bad because I had heard pretty much all good things about the place, and with elevated service, or just not atrocious service, it would have let us appreciate the food instead of chasing down drink, asking what things were, etc.

The Bakery has a patio? Sounds yummy.

Peter Lugers is having a great lunch special for 45 bucks. I also learned they take drink tickets and the ten dollar voucher for 7 stars so get a bunch of black cherry margaritas and chime in about the debate between Randall and I on the best burger.

I think we are going again for lunch in a few months as apparently Caesars likes to duplicate restaurants and there isn't much we haven't tried. I agree it's good, but not for everyone.

Haha not the most casual dining establishment but great for us old guys and I do love me some Bouchon 👍 Let’s make this happen once it gets a little cooler out?

I feel like the brunch vibe at Bouchon is solidly casual.

No pictures as I've done several ayce sushi places. But Jjanga was solid for dinner. Everything fresh, nigiri has small amount of rice, good apps, good service...all solid.

Lotus of Siam visit will be posted this week.

But first, visit to pho 7.
Beef rib pho. Iced French coffee. Delicious.
