2024 ELECTION THREAD
The next presidential race will be here soon! Please see current Bovada odds. Thoughts?
Sure, I can explain to you that whoever Venice is is talking about state level delegates there or is wrong. What else can I help you with? Are you not bothered that Venice directly contradicted your claim that voters don't elect the president in their answer? Why are you putting any value on "Venice's" answer here, anyway? It looks like bad AI.
Oh look, I was right. Venice is bad AI.

"Delegate" is a generic term roughly meaning "representative with certain powers", i.e. a person to whom authority has been delegated, but also has a specific meaning in the context of primaries, which is the meaning you keep banging on about. In the context of the general election, these representatives are called "electors", which are in turn a type of delegate.
Or, if you find it easier to look at it this way: electors in the general are delegates, but not all delegates are electors in the general.
Kamala +110 now? Wow. Congrats to anyone that got that +1800 number or better.
Will be a nice spot to bet Trump at even money (soon-ish) and have Kamala +1800.
Just catching up here......
With Harris as the presumptive Democratic candidate for POTUS, almost all of the VP names being thrown around would be DEI then. Correct?
It's interesting that their stuggle is they don't know exactly how to attack her, because female/black kills them if they do. Must be interesting meetings on this one.
I find it fascinating how much even the experts on the Left didn't see this surge coming
It's definitely fun to watch them workshopping the attack routes in real time in front of everyone.
Random thoughts on DEI.
Used to be affirmative action, right? I was definitely singing the same song as housenuts for most of my life. Thought it was really bad. I kind of look at it differently now. Definitely not perfect and hurts many individuals, but it moves our society forward imo. I worked at one fairly large company where there was exactly one black person working. Almost no women in any management position. Didn't seem unusual back then. It is now I think. We've definitely shifted things in the last 40 years that I've been in the workforce. And we are a better society for it.
One little anecdote. When I was 19 I was submitted for a management position where I worked. I did not get the job and was told that the reason was because they needed to have more women in management positions. So, yeah, I've been there. Thought it was extremely unfair at the time, but life goes on.
People have had built-in advantages their whole life discovering for the first time that the deck can be stacked against them is slightly amusing, I must admit.
The problem with AA is that's unconstitutional, but who cares these days right?
As for DEI in employment, it's illegal under the civil right act but who cares about that as well i guess.
As for DEI in politics, it's legal, and it could make sense more than elsewhere (given there is a rationale to desire politicians to broadly represent all facets of society, unlike employees producing a good or service), but it backfires horribly when it makes it impossible to determine if a minority choice is inherently merit based as well, or a DEI choice, as we can see with the Harris debate.
DEI punishes meriting members of minority a lot, it strips them of the automatic recognition of merit in the position they reach in society, and it makes discrimination against them *easier* in the future.
Yeah the presumptive nominee based on initial primary. Same thing. And I dunno if you’ve been paying attention but this has republicans screeching angrily
republicans are angry because Biden was the weakest candidate in american history or close to it so anyone in his place has a better chance to beat trump. They also had a lot of money already spent on ads against Biden lol.
It's ok and it's a normal reaction, the momentum pro Harris is surprising to many (given how despised she was by democrats themselves until very recently), a VP will be chosen, the convention will happen, and the real race will start from approx a pure coinflip situation which is kinda funny to watch.
I liked Biden a lot more than Harris but given the senate should be republican i guess i can do with Harris as well, most important thing is to avoid a trifecta of either party, unfortunately that outcome as well looks like a coinflip currently (at least on polymarket)
A lovely outcome would be Harris president, a 52-48 republican senate, and the senate stonewalling 100% of Harris nominations for *every single role* for 2 years.
Like literally every single one, every judge every ambassador every secretary every head of agency and so on.
Starting to miss the crypto crap.
Has there been a more undemocratic nominee put up for president by either party before than Kamala?
If Kamala wins she will be an awful president. We found out who she was when Gabbard exposed her first, then those who worked on her campaign completed the picture. She is a walking, smiling, cackling disaster. But at least it can be said that America voted for her. The other way she was going to get in was Biden squeaks through, collapses like 6 months later, and we have Kamala getting in that way with no one ever having voted for her.
If she gets in now it can be said that the country got who they deserved. They watched a genocide directly enabled by people and then voted for those people of their free will. If America doesn't get the president it wants let it get the president it deserves.
Remember when the magas here were telling us the democratic party was a biden cult? Good times, those were.
