New fast food discussion/review thread

OK OOT, it's been a while since we had a devoted fast food thread around here and I think it's time we had a new one.

Wonder how widespread Culver's is. Their burgers are second to none!

Pretty widespread, but not nationwidespread. And you are correct!

On an unrelated note, I had a luxe cravings box from the Bell last night and it was quite satisfactory, a fine value for $7. It did not hurt that they gave me about 30 fire sauces. Been a minute since I've hit the sauce motherload.

your loss

Looks very good but I had a pretty tight couple of days.

My bigger loss is that damn cravings box they probably threw away 😡

revenue per restaurant, likely gross
cfa has mastered drive thru efficiency

CFA also mastered not over saturating markets, unlike subway the joke of the FF industry

Contact corporate, be very polite, say how you made the mistake as you were starving and love taco bell so much as it's your favorite fast food of all time, and they'll prolly give you a bunch of rewards points

Didn't so this, went to McDo instead and used my points there for a spicy McChicken then bought one and got the free Friday side of fries.

We gotta plan a Culver's trip a la Harold and Kumar.

Culver's at least as far west as Denver.

I have a Culver's 5 minutes from my house and have never been. Might have to hit it up soon.

are any of you old enough to remember McDonald's promotion during 1984 summer olympics?

i am, but don't
how hilarious

I was 10 and they kicked me out a couple of times as I was there multiple times a day

every meal i had for 2 weeks was a big mac, fries and a coke. for free.

This was hilariously parodied on the Simpsons in a flashback episode.

Meh, they aren't that great, imo.

There's at least one here in AZ.

Didn't have it here. Our local owner was a maverick and often declined to participate in promotions.

very much so. the simpsons did a full ep about those olympics and homer getting a bunch of free food (slow pony obv). but I remember redeeming a lot of free food scratch off tickets with my stepdad at our local McDs back then.

Pssh i'll just crush up a few extra amlodipine besylate in my baja blast.

You could call it a ticker kicker

Not old enough, but remember it for this reason

lol at 84, I remember winning entire McD's meals back in 72. Me and Mark Spitz both had a great summer, a golden era to be sure.

I wasn't aware of the Simpsons parody. Hilarious indeed.

Can transport three 2+2 FF appreciators to AZ from Vegas for the low price of one double deluxe.

There's also a Culvers in St. George, UT

I was 14, had no cash, and ate McDonalds all summer. We threw away tickets that had lone silver or bronze winners. The Gold/Silver winners were the ****. Free BigMac and fries. Pair that with a Gold/Bronze or Silver/Bronze and go through the drive thru once, and into the store once each visit. They were so swamped they didn't even care. Probably didn't have a Big Mac after that for years. 2 older brothers were doing the same thing. Mom's food bill must have plummeted.

was a freshman in 84 with the closest mcds 35 miles away
after baseball road games we often convinced coach to swerve our short bus into the parking lot for fries and a chocolate sundae with nuts

It’s really sweet that they told y’all you were a baseball team

As a spicy food fan, I decided Burger King's Fiery Bundle was worth investigating. BK is offering a LTO Fiery lineup of 5 items, with 5 levels of heat: Fiery Strawberry Sprite (1, least spicy), Fiery Mozzarella Sticks (2), Fiery Royal Crispy Chicken (3, I assume this is their normal spicy chicken + bacon and cheese), Fiery Chicken Fries (4), and Fiery Bacon Whopper (5, most spicy).

In the app they offered the Fiery Bundle: Fiery Bacon Whopper, 4 piece Fiery Chicken Fries, Small Fiery Strawberry Sprite, and Small Fries for $10. (I also added a philly royal crispy wrap for $2.99 but nothing new to say about that).

Fiery Chicken Fries These were quite nice. Flavorful by themselves, with a noticable little kick when you bite into them. Worked quite nicely with the ranch sauce, I enjoyed alternating bites with and without sauce. Slightly better tasting version of the 7-11 buffalo chicken roller, which I mean a compliment (I've commented itt more than once the buffalo chicken roller at 7-11 is a pretty elite snack option for < $2). They are tiny, though - I can't imagine how many I'd want to eat if I was trying to make them a meal. 10 would not be anywhere close, I'm guessing at least 16 and I could probably go more pretty easily.

Fiery Bacon Whopper Sigh, this kind of sucked. That said, it felt for certain that mine had been sitting under a heat lamp for too long + the bun was old and dry, so it's very possible there are much better executions out there. I literally did not taste any spice at all in the first few bites, and in any bites for that matter. However, I strangely did find my tongue and lips had a decent burning sensation as I finished the burger - I can't quite remember something that had no spice up front but decent after-burn like this. Anyway it just tasted like a regular whopper sans ketchup, pickles and onions (all of which make a whopper taste better). I would much rather have a regular Whopper than this one. I did notice it seemed like I had mayo on mine, which may have tamped down the heat? The website doesn't mention mayo and the sauce looks orange, but the burger was kind of spicy at the end.... I don't know. I know I won't be ordering another during the LTO run, but would love to hear if someone else has better luck.

Fiery Strawberry Sprite "Sorry, we're out of the Sprite, you can get another drink." ****ers! That was half the reason I wanted to try this in the first place, I had heard a couple of sources say it's pretty tasty. Guess I'll never know.

Next time (if there is a next time), order your whopper “off the broiler” and they’ll make it fresh. Especially if you’re sitting down inside to eat, off the broiler is the way to go.
