Starting off to a great start where first question is not answered and ignored and they just go straight into talking points

What's the over / under on the Trump fact check lies?

Anyone want to make some guesses?

absolutely wild how trump will say a bunch of crazy deranged things and it's followed "President Trump thank you"

by FreakDaddy k

Why did they continue to allow Trump the last word on every question?

I guess if I was going to have a critique of Kamala, is not fighting for the last word at least a few more times. I understand just letting is idiocracy stand on it's own, but you also don't want to look weak.

I understand the sentiment, but I'm not sure that I agree. She hasn't been a doormat imo, and I think that looking calm and in control of your emotions is good when Trump starts acting like a maniac.

by Gonzirra k

Wasn't just talking about Biden

Fair point.

i think kamala improved after a disastrous and robotic start that wholly ignored the opening question

but i think we watched very different debates where you guys think she did well

i don't think she came off very likable at all

I treat Trump broadcasts like I do the Kardashians, I try to completely avoid them so that the network doesn’t get high advertising dollars for providing us such trash.

I watch them restreamed on liberal commentary channels. It’s good to know what he is doing because he is so dangerous and his rhetoric comes up at work so I like to have a response to him.

She needed to come off as serious and presidential, which is oftentimes not likable. I also think she is subtly pushing back against far left rhetoric which is really good. The American people want someone who is pro-small business, pro-America, and will take on tough world leaders. If she tries to come off as likable, she is a woman so people will think she’s coming off stupid.

So what I learn about trump plans ?
Stop Americans eating cats and doctors kills new born baby for abortion purpose -> MAGA

Presidential debate performances are almost never to my personal taste because the candidates generally skirt around the questions. I was commenting more on how I thought the general public would view the debate.

Hey man that’s not fair.

He has a concept of a plan.

i think trump had a massive gaff with the "i'm talking" quip

it could have worked if he just left it at that - but then he just had to add "sound familiar" in which case he's now reacting to her and taking an otherwise stupid moment, like that's how weak her reputation was that all she had was "remember when she told pence she was talking" and then he went and validated it like some triumph

so stupid, but the man's an idiot so it went as expected

Trump is just crushing.

😵

If someone could count how many times Trump was fact-checked vs how many times Harris was fact-checked, that would be awesome. Actually we know that the number for Harris is zero. But how many for Trump?

had bowling who won

If he had told her she smelled I’d be a very rich man.

She can't make any missteps without looking weak or incompetent, and barring that happening we can just call her unlikable. Yet she's standing across from a literal felon who can't or won't directly answer questions truthfully and never has, rambles off on nonsense and conspiracy theories, (etc) and what he just gets a pass? We're talking about the Presidency not a guest spot on Joe Rogan.

No idea how this debate will play with the truly undecided swing voters or what it is they need to see, but Harris did everything as well or better than I hoped. If in the end she's not what the undecideds want because she's not charismatic or entertaining enough or whatever other reason, so be it.

there's an easy way to not get fact checked. don't tell obviously already debunked lies.

Well here’s your shot right now brother what problem did you have with what she said.

Loooooool.

When she said she was pro-fracking, either moderator could have brought up her comment from 2020 to CNN "There’s no question I’m in favor of banning fracking.”

Not calling her out for the Charlottesville comments that were debunked, the whole "very fine people" quote taken out of context that she brought up.

Look, it's very easy to fact-check Trump every time he says something, because he's either lying or saying something deranged. But at least pretend that it's not 3-on-1.

I wasn't implying that either. I think the obvious play was to let him do his unhinged thing. My comment was more about looking at it more from the perspective of Joe, God bless America, voter. Not as a rational intelligent adult would look at it. They are just looking for the appearance of strength, not the wisdom of self control.

Man, after 2p2 politics forum crushed free speech 8 years ago it appears that mostly only the illiterate mouth breathers remain. Good luck with your militias or whatever after the republican party finally implodes after Trump's loss. One might even call it a tragic death.

welcome to infrastructure week

I didn't watch any of the debate. Should I change my vote, and if so why?

I still don't understand this, the "very fine people" being debunked thing. In the whole context, it's clear he's defending white nationalist. It was framed as him only saying that Neo-nazi's were very fine people, that's how the press works, but it's clear he's defending their position even if he goes on to condemn them as well. White nationalist went on later to also thank Trump for defending them. So the comment was distorted and not entirely fair, but he was sticking up for them... clearly.

Reporter: The neo-Nazis started this thing. They showed up in Charlottesville.

Trump: Excuse me, they didn't put themselves down as neo-Nazis, and you had some very bad people in that group. But you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. You had people in that group — excuse me, excuse me, I saw the same pictures as you did — you had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name. George Washington was a slave owner. Was George Washington a slave owner? So will George Washington now lose his status, are we gonna take down — excuse me — are we gonna take down statues of George Washington? How about Thomas Jefferson? What do you think of Thomas Jefferson? You like him? Okay good. Are we gonna take down the statue? Cause he was a major slaveowner. Now are we gonna take down his statue? So you know what? It's fine. You're changing history, you're changing culture, and you had people — and I'm not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists, okay? And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly. Now, in the other group also, you had some fine people, but you also had troublemakers, and you see them come with the black outfits, and with the helmets, and the baseball bats, you got a lot of bad people in the other group too.

And yes, she's stated she's against fracking, on public lands. She's also stated her current position pretty clearly.

Is that it?
