Point is, "consulting their phone" needs to be clearly defined. Not to be nitpicking, but the grey areas matter because that is where the cheating will come from.
I agree it needs to be a very clear line of demarcation. If your phone leaves your pocket during a hand, your hand’s dead. This might mean you need to physically take your earbuds out if you don’t want to listen to music during a hand.
Getting a call in the middle of a hand is an unfortunate but exceptional circumstance. Unless someone conveniently receives a phone call every time they’re in a big pot (which would be obvious by the third time), I don’t think consistent enforcement is critical. I personally push the bumpers on the side of my phone through my pocket so I don’t have to take it out. Not sure you can guarantee everyone handles it that way.
I would tend to favour not allowing anything on the felt and a rule of no phone use when your involved in a hand. Cheats will always find a way but we should at least give them less opportunity.

Number of accusations hasn't changed, but the batting average of how many of them are actually valid seems to go up every year...
I think we're in perfect agreement. No reason for anything to be on the felt other than chips and cards.

How about random headphone inspections? The floor snatches the headphone out in the middle of a hand and puts it into their ear to make sure you’re not getting intel from the windowless van out front.

I had seen this described in other threads and news articles but I had never seen someone showcasing it.

Ryan has been behind the scenes running the stream. A lot of the games carry on after the stream ends and he joins them. I don't think it's too farfetched he could have gained a large bankroll throughout the years.
Ryan is not particularly good at poker. He went from being a losing $5/$5 prop player to playing high stakes with virtually no improvement to his game.
Cheating in licensed establishments is one thing. It requires more logistics.
The amount of people who play as randos in higher stakes home games while also being totally naive to the trivially simple, "Available on Amazon.com" gimmick decks and other 'technologies' that make fleecing a home game too easy is a bit shocking, and that's gunna happen when there's $40K+ on the table.
Recently been playing with a players who’s banned from several casinos for cheating in poker. Guys a big VIP (at least it seems). So I’m reaching out to get some more info. If anyone could answer some of the QUs below it would be much appreciated:
Has there been any substance provided for the alleged call centre?
People saying they can know the order of deck mate 2 but I don’t think there’s any evidence of doing this in practice.
A lot of this could just be regs running bad against huge whales and thinking it’s cheated incorrectly?

There is evidence that people can set the order of a deck mate 2 and indeed the machine is designed so that the machine can do this. If you play with someone that is so flagrant several casinos have banned them for cheating at poker and rather than get warned look for reasons to ignore it at some level you deserve to be cheated.

About 10 years ago, there was a very famous pro playing in a very high stakes tournament that was being broadcast live. It may have been one of the "One Drop" WSOP events, I'm not sure anymore. In any event, this pro had a "masseuse" who was basically sitting on the floor, to the player's left, giving this pro "leg massages". The broadcast was jumping around different cameras, but one camera was located behind this pro's left shoulder, giving a perfect view of what this "masseuse" was doing. Literally every time the cards were dealt, the "masseuse" would turn her head to the left and look straight onto the table, and her eyes were the perfect height to see the underside of cards dealt slightly off the table. After the cards were dealt, she would turn her head away from the table back to the right. Happened every time they cut to that camera. She would then adjust what she was massaging from upper leg to lower leg, etc.
Based on this pro's history already back then, it seemed blatantly obvious to me that she was trying to catch a glimpse of the cards being dealt, and was signaling to this pro what she saw, based on what part of his leg she was massaging, how hard, what hands she used, etc. I called it immediately either on this site or another poker forum that I posted to back then, or maybe both sites. At the time, this pro had already been accused of other shady gambling related actions.

I get it, we don’t want cheaters in poker but envisioning the line of whiner followers to complain about Ali is tilting to me. I’d wager maybe half of people who complained had no clue who he was and just followed along for “no cheetahs in poker” and they would assume he’s a tough player so benefits them.
If you used RTA online (completely independent of live poker) or whatever against high limit players let Stephen Chidwick put him in a hole in the desert or something
In Ali’s case I think he admitted to RTA stuff but those sites are shady, a winner can be kicked off for no reason at all. So if floor has no idea who a random person is (other than Ali) and has no criminal record they are supposed to kick out people?

TBF, the fact that they are insulated from each other is mostly because of legal liability. As a general rule, no business is going to publically declare they are banning someone and/or why. It only opens themselves up to lawsuits.
Casinos can generally ban players for almost any reason and not face legal problems (with a few notable exceptions). However when the publically discuss it (and telling other casinos is a public discussion), they open themselves up to defamation lawsuits.
So a casino can ban you because they suspect you are cheating, but in a defamation lawsuit they would have to prove it if they publically discussed it.
It is no different with employment. Companies fire employees for all sorts of reasons. However if they discuss publically (even by telling other companies when they call for a recommendation) they might have to prove their allegations in a court of law.
