Yes, that patches the proof. Both chez and I already did it for you. No, you can't leave that step as implied and claim you proved "if x then y". You proved "if y then x". With the additional step you have now proved "if and only if y then x", from which "if x then y" follows.

More than one I'd hope. If I reasoned "The road becomes wet when it rains. The road is wet, therefore it has been raining", I'd expect to fail that question/section if the exam is anything related to logic or proofs. I would need to show that the road becomes wet only when it rains, saying "well, how else would it become wet, thought that bit was obvious" is not really going to cut it.

There was a brief competition years ago between two posters who challenged each other to who could go the longest without posting. If I recall correctly, it involved outing some secondary accounts, new accounts, begging and a short time frame.
