The graphics for this debate look like something I would expect for a state comptroller debate hosted by a local TV station in St. Louis.

so far i have this debate as even, given each is wearing identical american flag pins. if one of them busts out a ukraine or israel pin on the other lapel i would give them a massive edge

state comptroller is a more important position though

Why do both VP candidates come off superior to their running mates?

This is just a way more substantive debate so far… although they are both obfuscating on certain issues. Vance is definitely coming off waaaaaaay better than he usually does here.

walz appears to be reasonably intelligent and vance comes off incredibly smart

Clearly both are very well prepared. Vance is performing well, which I expected. Walz is counter-punching better than I expected.

Really? I don't think he comes off as stupid, but I don't think he comes off as extremely intelligent either.

Vance is smoother. Walz is more likeable. But in general, I think they are both doing a good job playing the hands they have been dealt. Walz was shaky in the first few minutes but settled in relatively quickly. Vance seemed ready to go right away.

He's not really a details guy so it's hard for him to come off as smart. His healthcare answer on Meet the Press was insane.

Walz flubbed on the Hong Kong question. He should've answered that first, say he misspoke, then move on to what he lead with, which would've been good had it not looked like he was attempting to dodge the HK question.

LOL Vance just said his texts to friends saying Trump didn't deliver on the economy was because he believed the misinformation from the media about Trump.

Why do the moderators keep telling the candidates that their time is up after they have voluntarily stopped talking?
