Survivor: GENERAL THREAD

Survivor: GENERAL THREAD

I wanted to post something Survivor related but realized there's no general thread about Survivor. Each thread is about a particular season or votes for hottest, best, etc.

Given that who knows when/if the show will come back, here's a general thread to post all things Survivor.

I won't ruin the OP with my content post, so it will come next.

Enjoy and come on in guys!

Lost in all the rome and Kishan drama - sue claiming she is 45 might have been the most ridiculous lie told in survivor history. I don't think she even looks great for 58. If someone who looked like that was actually 45 I'd assume they'd had a very rough life.

And what is the point of the lie anyways?

I've never used "Sure, Jan" in real life and didn't even know what it meant until a few yrs ago, but that would be my immediate reaction to her saying she was 45.

The most hilarious part is that she thinks she is fooling anyone.

Like you, I'd even be doubtful about 58.

Did Rome and Genevieve intentionally throw the puzzle?

Is Genevieve a fashion designer or corporate lawyer or both?

The thought that they were throwing it definitely occurred to me. They've got fishing gear that seems to be getting well used so they didn't care as much about the chickens. I suspect nowadays Probst just kills any edit that shows people talking about throwing challenges because its the opposite of digging deep and overcoming your personal trauma of doing challenges in a triumph of perseverance.

Sorry if this has been discussed already and I'm too lazy to search it, but I saw something on Twitter asking people which season they re watched the most and I saw a bunch of answers that surprised me.

Which season have you re-watched the most?

Rewatched a few early seasons that I'd mostly forgotten when I did a full rewatch. The show doesn't have a lot of rewatchability IMO.

Definitely a negative freeroll lie.

Scenario 1 - people believe you and nobody cares (1% chance)
Scenario 2 - nobody believes you and they now have evidence of you lying to their face and how you act when lying to them (99% chance)

People really haven't ever re-watched Heroes vs Villains?!

I'm always amazed when people re-watch any season.

Thought it was a significantly better episode than last week and seeing both Rome and Sol survive is a plus for the season moving forward.

Safe to say I did not have Genaveve going from the most anonymous player on the season to Kim Spradlin mode in the space of one week on my bingo card

I'm baffled by the comparison to Kim. Kim was well liked and a unifier of people. Genevieve just chose a disliked loud mouth as her closest ally while alienating Teeny and ensuring her tribe is maximally fractured going forward. Its possible this all works out in the end, but Sol and Teeny seem like loyal people you could work with long term, while Rome is a bit of a loki...though not wildly enjoyable like the actual Loki.

Rome is a gangsta, do you align with him or vote him out? He is very unpredictable.

I think if you're Teeny and can win on the strength of your likeability and don't want to have to be the one making the day to day moves, it's okay to align with Rome. If you're any kind of player at all, you vote him out. He's already shown an ability to hustle advantages and he's too volatile. Also, he's probably not someone whose stink you want on you later on in the game.

I rewatched HvV when my sister was watching for the first time so I could remember things better to discuss with her. It was fantastic the second time also. I don't normally like rewatching shows. I'd forgotten Rupert smashed Jerry's face into a rail.

I bet any season with Coach on it is rewatchable.

I recently got my kids into Survivor, and so I've been rewatching seasons with them. It's actually kind of cool to know the flow of the game and see the subtle things that sometimes happen, already knowing the outcome. We've gone through a lot of the recent seasons, and are about to start on Season 40.

Genevieve suddenly becoming a girl boss doesn't surprise me, she's done a very good job at flying under the radar so far, except that the final comment she made about "her game" at the end of TC was kind of stupid. It basically was her stating "I'm in control", even though nobody seemed to notice.

I have to say Sol was pretty chill about Rome blatantly threatening him. If it were me, that would have resulted in potential violence because he was being such a little weasel about it. And from now on, my goal would be to make sure he's gone. No way he makes it much further, especially once the other players come into the picture because he's so damned annoying and aggressive. Perfect shield, though. Sol proves he's an NPC and isn't ever going to get really far in the game.

Sue saying she was 45 was lol worthy. There's no need to lie THAT much, just say you're 51 and people would believe it.

I really hope that somebody takes on Adam as a number two like Clay, Philip or Woo, and they could coast with him very far in the game if they do. Sam kind of already has. the tribe dynamics are going to shift a LOT when they either mix or merge, because there's pretty clear lines in all the tribes.

Teeny has been to two tribal councils and;

Tribal council 1) Flipped on both Aysha and Sol who saw Teeny as part of their core four alliance
Tribal council 2) Completely on board with Kishans plan to immaditely flip on their new core four

I saw an earlier comment saying Rome is unpredictable. However in reality he has (so far) only shown himself to be extremely loyal and forthcoming to his allies whereas Teeny and Kishan have been ones playing unprecictably

I understand the theoretically you as Sol would not have enjoyed being in that situation, but what was weaselly about what Rome did? He was direct and honest about the plan, which at least gave Sol some chance to try to think of a countermeasure (which I might add - he failed to do because he was so upset with Rome).

Rome is getting such a bad rap this season.

I'd say she was pretty blindsided

Yeah I'd say so, that was an awkwardly long staredown

Poor Anika isn’t used to not getting her way.

There's been some really raw reactions to blindsided this season; Kyle when it was Aysha, Teeny when it was Kishan, but tonight was the best.

Speaking of Teeny, it had been bugging me because she has such a familiar looking face. Tonight I think I finally placed it - Kevin Arnold from the Wonder Years.

BTW...over/under on how long until someone on the show points out it's been four straight POC voted out?

lol Andy is an idiot savant

You’re half right.

I love how Andy came up with a “plan” that didn’t amount to anything. I figured he was at least going to go to Sam saying that the girls were trying to blindside him (even though he knew it was just a plan told to him to make him feel safe) and see if he could get Sam to vote for Annika.

But he didn’t at all. Like dude, was your end goal to get Annika to give you a name? Like, nice job?

I think one of the dumbest things people can do in this game is align with wildcards, regardless of their value as an endgame goat. So I think Sam, Sierra, and Genevieve are all making a big mistake.

His goal was to blindside Anika by making himself seem like a clueless goat (not a difficult role for him to portray, admittedly). It at least showed some self awareness - they all think I'm an idiot, so I'll play into that by doing some pathetic scrambling that just makes Anika more sure of herself so no SITD gets played or Anika doesn't try to get a new plan going.

I think CBS is avoiding that narrative ever since a group of African-Americans got together on Big Brother and intentionally voted out all the white people.

I've forgotten what season it was (even though it was recent) but the blowup about POC being voted out one after the other was ridiculous.

Right… but we didn’t see him actually putting forward the effort to try to get her out. It was all Sam’s doing.
