The practical consequences of open borders were far different in an era (i) the U.S. was much less affluent on a relative basis; and (ii) most people in the world had no practical way to get to the United States border, no matter how easy it was to cross.

I acknowledge that the first point may make the moral case for open borders stronger than it was in 1830.

I support an open border. I didn't say anything about Dems. I think immigrants flooding the country is good. Thus I can say I support the work that has been done.

You really aren't good at reading comprehension or critical thinking. I'd recommend taking that into account before lashing out at people much more capable of communication than you are.
