Positively surreal to see the media and most Democrats defending the Cheneys.

Do real liberals even exist anymore?

Middle of the road common sense ones are rare

Sad!

thats what republicans are already doing?.... republicans(particularly trump) add to the national debt more than democratic administrations they just complain about it more.

Source? Please don't waste your time sharing a link that shows changes in debt assigned to each party only when they are in office. As I hope you know, many policies have long-term effects that carry on far after a politician is voted out of office.

my point is as long as the US dollar is the reserve currency the amount of national debt we have simply doesn't matter to daily life and it's a fearmongering political talking point. and the US is highly unlikely to let the USD slip without war because that would just be ceding world power without a fight so we'd have bigger things to worry about at that point anyway.

Poking a sleeping bear is never a problem either... until you poke him hard enough to wake him up then it is a big problem.

The US does not have control over what people in other countries trade goods and services in. Each company and person (in every free country) decides which forms of payments/currency they will accept. Your idea that the US can just tell people that the USD is the reserve currency for as long as they want is beyond silly. You also, incorrectly, seem to think the reserve currency is some kind of black or white issue where there will always be just one currency that a huge majority of trade will be conducted it - there are possible future scenarios where there could be multiple currencies used widely outside of a particular country or regions' territory.

If the US national debt balloons to 500% of GDP then the USD is unlikely to be as dominate as it is today in world trade. People like to use USD because it is considered safer and less inflationary than other currencies, but with a large debt-to-GDP ratio the USD would very likely become less safe and less inflationary.

That both her appearance and her politics are identical to her father. A woman can look like her dad and not be an "ugly, middle aged hag" which was something you just inserted out of god knows where

It was funny because there is nothing beneath Dick Cheney, including trying to pass himself off as his own daughter

Maybe ask some women whether they would interpret a comment that they looked like an elderly man as an insult.

For the last time, "Liz looks just like her father" is 1. not usually an insult 2. not the insult I was going for and 3. not the person the insult was directed against.

Sad!

Though both parties seem to be taken over by the extreme crazies on each side

DJT surged last week but has dropped 40% from its intraday peak in the past three sessions. I've come to treat it as a proxy for market sentiment on a Trump victory, writing last week it was a sign that Trump was the market-decided favorite. With this 40% drop I think that sentiment has moderated.

Sometimes it seems like voters are flocking away from liberalism towards Kamala Harris for some unknown reason.

So ridiculous.

The Dems are controlled by the center-right. That's Biden and Harris. AOC has no national power. Bernie lost. The left side of Dems lost. Trump was the right wing side of the Republicans and he won. Dems have gone to the center and Republicans have gone extreme right.

It's pretty comical when conservatives complain about how radically far left the democratic party is. Just shows how susceptible to propaganda they are because there are hardly any actual leftist policies being espoused by the democratic party. They are almost completely centrist now.

When politicians do it, they are just the ones spreading that propaganda. It should be a basic litmus test to see whether you can actually listen to a right wing politician: if they ever say "radical left" when talking about democrats, just stop listening. The only goal they have is poisoning the well.

Is this dissembling supposed to convince anyone? You think it is funny to say that middle aged women whose politics you dislike look like men. You have plenty of company in the right wing derposphere. If it's nothing to be embarrassed about in your opinion, then don't be embarrassed. Just own it.

Of course not.

Part of the problem with tracking ideological drift is that you have a "fun with endpoints problem." Kamala's current rhetoric is clearly to the right of the Democratic party circa 2020. But it is still to the left of Bill Clinton.

On some things a lot yes sure.

And it's strange because society did not move like that

Do AOC and Bernie supporters vote Democrat? Of course they do. Their support for "controlling dems" as you put it has the gravitational effect of pulling policy towards their more extreme left position. But to think the Democrat or Republican parties have done anything but shift left in the past say, 50+ years, is ridiculous. Both parties have shifted and are shifting more and more to the left. This is almost entirely to do with oversocialization fueled by urbanization and now, like liquid crack, with social media.

Controlling Dems are right wing about war and geopolitics: Biden and his diversity hire are probably more hawkish on Ukraine than anyone in the Republican party with maybe the exception of Liz Cheney or some other RINOs. But they're extreme left on other things like gender transition surgeries for prisoners or taxing unrealized capital gains.

Trump is the LEFT side of republicans though minibet on 90% of issues.

He doesn't care about the deficit, he is isolationist (which is an inherently leftist position), uses Marxist claims to be a nativist, isn't in favor of a complete abortion ban (and actually doesn't care personally that much about the topic) and so on

It must be the plastics.

what center right policies would you say the dems support?

I'll let others judge who between the two of us is more likely to be eating paint chips.

Most people in your hugbox taking your side isn't a great appeal to objective reality, which is yet further evidence of this cognitive gap you seem to have.

I have absolutely no bones about insulting Liz Cheney, or even saying she looks like a man (I don't think she does, she's rather well-dressed and attractive for an older lady). But she definitely looks like her Dad in that photo, and her political position is so similar to his and his moral bankruptcy so prevalent it could have easily been "him wearing a wig."

its not really surprising at all

Trump's exact quote:

She's a radical warhawk. Let's put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, ok? Let's see how she feels about it, you know, when the guns are trained on her face. You know, they're all warhawks when they're sitting in Washington.

How the news media is reporting it:
