Moderation Questions
The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic failed, and it became a general discussion thread with almost no moderation related posts at all. And those that were posted were so buried in non-mod posts that it became a huge time drain on the mods to sort through them. Then, when off topic posts were deleted posters complained about that.
This led to the closing of the mod discussion thread, replaced by the post report/pm approach. This has filtered out lots of noise, but has resulted at times in the General Discussion Thread turning into a quasi-mod thread. This is not desirable, but going back to the old mod thread is also not a workable option.
Therefore, I have created this new moderation thread, but with a different purpose and ground rules than previous mod threads. The purpose of this thread is to provide a place for posters to pose questions to the mods about how policies are applied; to bring to the mods attention posts they think are inappropriate and reach the level of requiring mod action; and for mods to communicate to posters things like changes or clarifications to policies, bannings, etc.
Now let me tell you what this thread is NOT a place for. It is not for nonmoderation related posts, even if the discussion originates from a comment in in a mod related post. It is not for posters to post their opinions about other posters or whether a poster should be banned. It is not to rehash past grievances about mod decisions from months or years ago. The focus of this thread will be recent posts that require action now. Or questions about current policies and enforcement.
So basically, this is a thread to ask mods questions. Which means, pretty much that only mods should be answering those questions. If a poster asks why a particular post was deleted or allowed, only a mod can answer that. Everyone else who wants to jump in with their opinion or their mod war story needs to stay out of it. It just increases the noise to signal ratio and does nothing to answer the question.
Everyone needs to understand that this thread has very different rules than the old mod thread and any other thread. Any non-moderation post will be deleted on sight. Not moved to the appropriate thread, just deleted. So don't waste your time crafting a masterpiece post about wars or transgender issues or the presidential election and then post it in this thread. It will be gone. Also, this isnt a thread for general commentary about our mods performance. Posting "browser sucks as a mod" or any such posts that don't actually ask about a policy or request a mod action will be deleted. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about the moderation of this forum. But this thread isnt for complaining about mods. You are free to go to the ATF forum and make your concerns about modding in this forum there.
So with that intro, this thread is open for those who need to bring questions about mod policies or bring inappropriate posts to the mods attention. Again, it is NOT a thread for group discussions about other posters or for other posters to answer questions directed to mods.
We'll see how this goes. If you have what you feel is an open issue raised in the General Discussion Thread, please copy that post or otherwise reintroduce the issue here.
Thanks.
Maybe you aren't aware that Russia is currently...
Never mind, pretend it's USA.
a better example indeed
So capitalism has worked out exactly how many degrees C the planet will warm by and when, and has ascertained that's not a threat to the societies it depends on and that technology to counteract the worst of the effects will become available?
Clever capitalism for not gambling recklessly with its own future!
Stop antropomorphizing capitalism and try to read Hayek to understand how information dispersed through the population gets acted upon without coordination from the top better than when you try to plan from it from your ivory tower.
We already have technology able to cope with the 6sigma scenarios of the most apocalyptic people as i told you. The netherlands in the 1960s fixed 3 meters of sea levels lol. We have greenhouses for agriculture and so on and on and on and on.
It's all about costs and it's stupid to sacrifice present compoung growth too much when you know technology improves every year so it gets cheaper and that fixing the effects is cheaper than preventing them.
The proposal of your people is to give up what allowed the world to prosper and improve lives more in the last 200 years than in the previous 5000 years (fossil fuels) to "degrowth" because of absurd ideology. You are the threat not climate change and capitalism accordingly creates the condition to defend against you
Don't be shy with the answer! So far one option is that the leftist utopian society will defend itself with slavery. What else?
What are you going to deter with? Is there a defense industrial complex in this leftist utopia?
Who is going to fight? Conscription is slavery.
We are effectively governed by the USA in some ways, and have been since WW2. We have US air bases here under the control of the US government and appear to be under contract to join it in whatever its latest foreign folly will be.

You're talking about how markets theoretically appropriately weigh and price in all information. I'm sure that will be of enormous consolation to us all as we pay £20 for a kg of vegetables in the not too distant future when it becomes clear to people that constantly waterlogged fields aren't going to yield very much.
The threat is very much you and people like you with your 19th century laissez faire approach.

Fight against whom? In this magical world everyone wears flowery headbands and smokes weed all day, they ain't gonna be doing no invading. Ain't no-one got time for that.
We've found the level
And trust d2 to drag us down to it. Cometh the hour, cometh the poster.

Are you cognizant of the fact that it is "green" policies that have caused food price increases yes? it's your people who demonize and overregulate/ban pesticides and GMO and everything else.
Do you know how capitalist agriculture looks like? lol at the "waterlogged fields"
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/...
Btw yields have increased in the last 50 years
That is what leftists are relying on though. Pretty much no other way around it.
It's just not remotely true

No that's not what raised food prices and led to shortages in Europe recently. Low yields in Spain and other places were responsible, and guess what caused that?
Interested to hear about your 4D military strategy for Russia to invade a nukeless UK.
You're allowed to use maps if you need to place either or both of those countries correctly.
What?
It's ok to say you don't have any idea.
I have no idea what you're saying.
Are you asking what is my plan to defend UK against Russia if Russia invades?
Are you trying to say that Russia can't invade UK and asking what the potential strategy would be?
I'm asking you to suggest a plausible means by which Russia could invade a nukeless UK.
What do you have in mind? Hundreds of thousands of paratroopers? Millions of ground troops roaming across multiple European countries? Vast ships full of the military scanning suitable ports to dock at?
Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plain?
