2024 ELECTION THREAD
The next presidential race will be here soon! Please see current Bovada odds. Thoughts?
nobody actually cares what they are called in the real world as long as it’s not a slur. that’s what people who try to endlessly find the most performative word to use don’t understand.
people don’t like being called latinx or bipoc or qpoc or differently abled or high functioning autism instead of aspergers or whatever stupid crap people came up with today. they want to know that their retirements are secure, good jobs, they can afford the cost of living, education, safe neighborhoods, etc.
Blame for dem loss ranked:
1. Biden not stepping away sooner
2. Uninformed voters, misinformation, propaganda
3. White people
4. 100 day campaign
5. Dems not doing a primary
6. Fringe reasons including racism and misogyny
i assign full blame to #1 & #5. left us with a candidate nobody actually liked but base pretended to rally around anyway solely because she isn't orange
in this age of mass discontent where incumbency is actually a disadvantage (global phenomenon, not just US), not holding a primary was killer
social media is awash with a lot of #2, but i believe it's they who are un/misinformed on why people vote the way they do. gotta step up their game
The Ds are morons lol
Let's get some predictions from trumpers on the next 4 yrs. Gaza, life for the avg American etc.

If only someone had the foresight to create a thread for that so it didn't get drowned out in the rest of the chatter in this one...
Oh look, c'est magique! https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/285/p...
I don’t blame white people, I’m just anti-blaming black people. I also think the party just won’t be able to function if we stick our heads in the sand and pretend that minorities will always automatically break for progressivism just because. Democrats have a horrific branding issue and I’m not sure what the identity of the party is right now.
People like Obama and Clinton are just not going to win us elections in my opinion, and courting the celebrity vote isn’t working either. So what next?

I heard authoritarian buffoonery slathered in orange make-up is all the rage these days. Dems got anyone like that they can roll out?

easy fix for dems. you listen to 90% of your voterbase instead of the 5% on here or social media that doesnt even vote
instead of goign to michigan for the 2nd time to double down on trans rights and pro palestine talk. you talk more about how biden admin had the best recovery out of EVERY nation in the world and that youre tightening up border as well as more middle class cuts while rich have to pay a few % more.
or you could just triple down on trans rights and tell everyone the sky is falling if trump gets relected.
seems more people pay for groceries than they do abortions.
2022 reds got destroyed by going on this hideous ban abortion rampage and they got ****ign slaughtered at polls, we saw trump reel that back and kept talking repeteadly about states rights, law and order and went back to border focus and reducing inflation talk over and over again. they quickly learned.
seems obvious
I just spent about thirty minutes looking at the exit polls (as reported by the Washington Post) for 2020 compared to 2024. Here are the things that jumped out at me:
Kamala lost 12 percentage points compared to Biden among Hispanic/Latino voters and 18 percentage points among male Hispanic/Latino voters. This is a huge shift, and I would be curious to see more granularity on these numbers. I don't think Hispanic/Latino voters are culturally homogenous enough to constitute a single demographic
FWIW exit polls have larger errors than standard polling. The worst part is, it takes months to do deep dives into the data to show where they miss by double digits. But by Aug 2025, nobody will care anymore about the specifics of this election and the inaccurate exit polls are all, if anything, people remember.

The problem with this approach is that the people who do that have an outsized influence on the media and the primary politics. If we really want that type of transformation we’re going to have to rebuild the party both from the ground up and the top down.
People don’t just not trust us because of progressives, they also don’t trust the “establishment” of the party. These people seemingly have horrible political instincts.
And I will say I didn’t see them campaigning on trans rights or Palestinian rights, but maybe I missed it. That was the progressive base of the party that wanted that if anything. She also struck a really hollow chord with me on some of her progressive policy proposals like price gouging and unrealized capital gains tax. Why not campaign on expanding medicare and protecting social security or other more popular proposals?
For me what got me to the polls is the foreign policy, infrastructure, and climate change work the Biden admin has done. I want to know what will be the winning message going forward that can build a big coalition of people. Social issues definitely, but it has to be done in the right way where we don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater. Trans sports for instance just have to be jettisoned. Youth transition probably as well. And third trimester abortions should not be part of any federal legislation except for the life of the mother.
On economic issues I think we have to propose SMART progressive policy. Don’t just throw stuff out there scattershot like Bernie. Pick one or two good policies and make it the center of your campaign. It seemed like every week she had a new proposal and couldn’t stick to it. Keep it basic so people can understand.
Both. I called out the Dems in January for not raising up an alternative candidate well before Biden bowed out.
But seems the party kind of deferred to Bidens legacy and trusted him to be able to evaluate if he had it still or not and clearly both sides failed miserably
I’m sure Republicans and Republican-loyalist voters are just dying to enlighten the party they think are secret pedos who rigged the vote in 2020 why they lost.
It's clear the biggest reason was people's paycheck doesn't go as far as it did four years ago They *all* would've lost unless someone was absurdly charismatic, which the dem bench currently does not have.

don't think talking up biden admin success wins over anyone that wasn't voting for her already. it's such an uphill fight when you have to defend status quo. the "threat to democracy" platform they had to rely on was never going to land when 98% of people don't feel represented in our current democratic system.
needed to rotate to a fresh face who could at least pay lip service to doing things differently with grand plans to make peoples lives better. an outsider couldve also tactically **** on biden in areas where he's been unpopular (immigration, inflation)

While I dont thik that isgona make a lot of red "independents: vote for her I dont think those two points were "that" big, but maybe they were bigger.
I am not sure how CNN and posts are saying they arent sure how hey lost that big after trotting out a canddiate that barely got 1.8% in the 2020 primary which is nobodys fault since we had 3 weeks before deabte mlt-ple republicans saying biden was leading meetings and doign cartwheels behind closed doors.
what youre first paragraph is saying is that DEms should have had a primary and maybe just let the democratic process iron out itself instead of pushing for clinton against obama , Biden ahead of sanders ( the right choice imo ) and throwing harris out quickly.
its obvious that it was tough due to ecenomy but when you have 65% of democrats taking by CNN in 2023 saying they are unhapy with border issues by biden admin
we cant act surrpised when these high latino populations in florida and texas that are usually blue, end up voting red
TO DEMS SURPRISE SHOCKINGLY LEGAL immigrants tend to not really be a big fan of ILLEGAL immigrants for some reason. could be becuase , i assume, they got legalized and the illegals prolly didnt.
but insetad the dems focused more to the illegal crowd as if they can vote??
themessage needs to be clear idk how you can say otherwise when I repeat what happened to the reds in 2022 where they got decimated at the polls. they learned and recovered QUICK after that,
you can blame dem and biden and dem est but if you dont listento what youre voters want, its not gonna matter. a republican wan a popular vote which is ridiculous. republicans here ( the sane ones) should be smug as hell since I assume they were prolly saying why this would happen
after establosment gets out of its own way dems can either double down on far left policies or reel it in and become sane again and be for the workign middle and lower clas that it USED to talk to.
Harris when she went into wayne county iirc spent a good portion talking about issues that that smal % voterbase wantd to hear abt trans rights and pro palestine talk where CNN said a month ago it was smart to lock up that vote but they missed the entire state
after establishment gets out of its own way. understand its not about hollywood and beyonce to get you votes, dems can either double down on far left policies or reel it in and become sane again and be for the working middle and lower class that it USED to talk to.

as I sid below and last night mccain situtaiton, tbf tho dems could have faired way better instead of winning NJ, NY and ILL both by 5-10% in states they usually win by 15
the messaging could have been better to give them a fighting chance. and dont talk about democracy at stake for 100x

thats why i said last night this was kinda like mccain where doesnt matter who he was running against, he would have lost 2008 , maybe not as bad like he did to obama but it was a lose lose for republicans. trup is stil beatable tho we saw that with biden getting 80m votes lmao and stuggled in his primaries at first
ive been saying about the bolded but Biden admin did do a decent job with bouncing back inflation after 16 months, she could have expanded on why it was only gonna get better but instead talked about other issues.
and liek checked said that price checking or whatever, didnt land, i think they saw that and dropepd that QUICK to theri credit

I think the dems should stick their heads in the sand and shut the **** for a while.
Nobody wants to listen to predictable scripted talking points that nobody believes but expects to hear over and over in a lame attempt to garner someone's political interest. That doesn't drive turnout.
Bernie was perceived as a radical but he was humble, spoke off the cuff and most importantly, gave the perception that he meant what he said. The dude almost took down Hillary when he was expected to get curb stomped based on his policies. Kamala wasn't a bad choice, the dems just prefer to take the most lackluster approach of imitated horseshit that doesn't motivate anyone to come out and vote.
They should listen more for what the narrative is than try to create it and sell it. There's 100 million people out there.
I’m sure Republicans and Republican-loyalist voters are just dying to enlighten the party they think are secret pedos who rigged the vote in 2020 why they lost.
Well since you asked, people are fed up with the dems. Their arrogance and moral superiority could not be more off putting. Anyone voting for Trump is called a nazi, hitler supporter, racist, etc. Add in the MSM that covered up for Biden's dementia until the debate, Harris saying she wouldn't do anything differently that Biden has (um, wow), and here we are.
