Trump 2nd term prediction thread

Trump 2nd term prediction thread

So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.

Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.

A bit of an anemic OP, I know, just interested to hear people's thoughts now that the election uncertainty is over.

Just caught part of Haris' concession speech. Something about 'let us fill the sky with the light of a billion stars'

mostly for the irony I'm going with trump doing that.

fix 8), it's all within yourself, and enjoy the party.

the world belongs to the western upper middle class and we are going to take it all and keep it.

Ya I grew up pretty ****ing poor and am fortunate to be where I am today. I know what’s being telegraphed benefits me substantially. I know it ****s over a lot of other people. I take no joy in the latter

3 seems like a solid prediction. I should have listed that one.

I knew I'd agree with your list before I read it. I don't actually even like you as a person, but you basically channel every single thought I have and put it to paper.

Does that mean I dislike the guy in the mirror? Most probably.

Are you getting a lot richer because you think the market is going to surge yoy under trump or something else?

The market shot up for reasons outside of trump and his tax cuts but Trump took credit for it of course. The tax cuts aren't preliminary to a surging market that people think they are. Bush did a lot of the same with opposite results. Other factors are a hell of a lot more influencial than just that but he did bink a lot of those "others while in office. He might not be so lucky this time.

There are a lot of reasons for my specific situation but I’ll just use one absurd anecdote: I’m a financial advisor and a number of my clients are not just super ****ing blindly MAGA but were so certain the economy would be a disaster if kamala won that they warned me in advance that they would take a significant amount out of my advisory to put into whatever fixed income **** out of the market regardless of anything I said otherwise

There are a lot of other reasons for my viewpoint but that’s the only reason I’m down to share

Sure, my only point was these "tax cuts" while competely ignoring everything else, is a lot different in 2016 compared to 2024, especially when tax cuts are used to boost spending that increases deficits - which is exactly what the country is fighting against compared to 8 years ago.

It just wont have the same results. Whether Trump knows that or not is the question, but IM confident that the Fed does.

My point is anecdotally trump winning is probably a net financial boon for me

Whether it should be or whether I wanted this is irrelevant, that’s just the end result. I voted for Harris, I despise trump and MAGA as a whole, but I can’t deny the situation works in my favor

deficits are irrelevant. trump is going to oust powell as fed chair because he did him dirty cutting 50bps in the leadup to an election.

he'll install a puppet who can set interest rates to -10% and divert half of fed open market purchases to trumplibertycoin, a trump family crypto venture he'll sell as a fundraising vehicle to pay off the $350 bajillion national debt.

when he rugpulls us at the end of his term we'll have only ourselves to blame

Yeah, and if he did all of that in 2024 to make himself look good, the economy would crash and burn, it wouldn't go up. Doing it in 2016 gets people an extra gift for christmas and stocks go up.

This came off a harsher than it should have, I can explain, I promise. Anyway, it's not that I think you're a bad person. I just think you lack self restraint in posting, which is something I see in myself so often, so I'm a hash judge of it in others.

RFK Jr. starts fleshing out his vision for Trump’s second term

existing federal agencies he intends to target

clearing out departments of federal workers who he believes
haven’t been doing their jobs — ‘entire departments’ in some cases

Kennedy said the nutrition departments at the Food and Drug Administration
‘have to go’ because its workers are ‘not doing their job.’

In the same interview, he added, “I think fluoride is on its way out.”

Waiting to see the size of the majority in the senate and the house to predict what will happen because a lot depends on what can pass the senate easily and every person matters there.

Murkowski and Collins are the "republican Manchin and Sinema"

It drives me nuts when extending the the 2017 tax law is described as a tax change.

It drives me nuts when extending the the 2017 tax law is described as a tax change.

it is compared to democrats plan to not renew them. and it is compared to no action, if something is going to expire it is a tax change to not make it expire.

Anyway the table is wrong, it uses 20% base tariffs when the declared plan is 10%

So, how will it look winners?

Because we've had a bull market pretty much since Obama, except for Covid and a hiccup in 2022?

See, this is the problem with people like you. Some prick could pick up a megaphone and say "I am going to put cyanide in your food to keep it safe and healthy" and you just nod along because all you heard is the "safe and healthy" part. This is why morons shouldn't be given a vote.
