2024 ELECTION THREAD
The next presidential race will be here soon! Please see current Bovada odds. Thoughts?
Those questions lead to those answers.
Is crime high? Yes.
Does stuff cost more than it did before? Yes.
Are immigrants flooding the border? Yes.
Whether it's specifically at an all-time high, or slightly lower than a few months ago doesn't really matter. They are bad facts.
The answers to all of those were the same for trump's first term too lol
Dems just need more celebrities to endorse them (since the average American relates to them) and maybe hammer trans rights more. Easy peasy.
its pretty insane to see the same people who were certain the Dems were going to win bc of the pre-election polls cite well...polls...as to why they should have won.
who was certain the dems were going to win? I wasn’t. I wanted Kamala to win but never dared to say I was certain. even if you believe the polls this result was well within the margin of error.

When every swing state goes Trump then that's more indicative that the polls were bad than within their margin of error, no?

Politics is about finding a marginalized group of people who represents 1% of the population and radicalizing your base against them.
"Trans people are taking your medical benefits, your political capital, and your media attention"
so scary

Yes, both can be true though. But most Democrats don’t trust the polls, I’m sure. My gf was saying that all the polls seemed fake for months.
I was hoping that the trends from 2022 of the Dems underperforming would continue, but it seems like with the top of the ticket that’s where Dems seem to underperform. The down ballot was a little bit closer.

I never saw anyone saying certain or guaranteed. I certainly thought she would win but was very clear that I could be wrong.

There's still a lot I don't understand about what happened. I really have no explanation for why the polls so clearly favored Harris for so long and then almost overnight everything turned on a dime. It was the same time a lot of obviously conservative funded polls released, so it really did seem like that was the most likely explanation. I still can't explain what happened and even second guessing myself I still don't get it.
Oh well. I guess we get what we get. I hope no one expects sympathy when the leopards start eating faces (already started).

nothing turned on a dime. polls are just bullshit. the whole country is built on bullshit. polls are just one of many microcosms of the US bullshit empire.
