2024 ELECTION THREAD
The next presidential race will be here soon! Please see current Bovada odds. Thoughts?
You underestimate him. When it comes to theological insight, he's a rare breed.
Luciom already posted this some pages back. It’s not proven to be causal so what’s the point? It’s coming across as an ad hominem attack on veganism.
I already said this
I suspect that personality traits, particularly neuroticism, are the cause of poorer mental health and veganism but these two traits are not directly correlated.
Also, it's a different study to the one Luciom posted.
People who want to feel socially superior are operating through the social self.
The hidden story I’m talking about is not navigated through by the social self. The social self oppresses the aspect of self that goes on this hero’s journey.
Depression and anxiety are typically measured by questionnaire and symptoms therefore exist on a continuum, although some studies asked if participants has been diagnosed with D or A, or if they were medicating for either. Relative risk or odds ratios as far as I can see are not reported.
Depression
Anxiety
Yeah since it’s a meta-analysis if I could see the individual studies the rates would probably be reported.
For example if it’s a 15% vs 20% it’s definitely significant but then we’d just be looking at large minorities.
If it’s 1% vs 5% it’s a huge difference and very statistically significant but at the same time we wouldn’t be able to say vegans have a huge problem with depression or anxiety because 95% don’t suffer from it.
Or maybe it’s 5% vs 50% and then we’re like wow, these vegans are really unwell what the heck is going on there.
And then you might wonder if there are huge social factors like feeling socially ostracized or bullied, and then while we see a huge correlation, it might have nothing to do with the worldview but the treatments of those people.

We might also ask why people feel the need to make their dietary preferences a core part of their identity and share it with other people. This applies to carnivores, vegans, ketogenics, and so on.
I expect anyone who makes a big deal about their diet (or indeed anything about their identity, such as why they are supporting in the election) on social media is going to get some flack. I expect any of these dietary groups give as good as they get in the bullying and ostracising stakes, but this is of course an empirical question and probably one that is under-researched.

Well depends on what you mean by vegan. It seems like these reviews assessed specifically meat vs non-meat diets? That’s not necessarily implicating vegans vs non-vegans. And when it comes to veganism this would be an ethical commitment so it’s more akin to asking why utilitarians or deontologists or any number of ethical positions would seek to make their opinions known.
Basically I think anyone who is interested in moral philosophy or ethics in general would have a hard time maintaining consistency on this line of inquiry.
I just read through a bunch of that conversation. Luciom, Victor, Luckbox and rickroll had no problem understanding what craig was saying, and some of the people who were criticizing his language generally understood him but asked for more clarification. When you get into topics like "moral truth" there are going to be differences of opinion on how we arrive there (if it's possible at all), but that's what conversations are for. It could have been an interesting discussion, but a few people deci
If all the people who claimed to understand what he was saying actually understood what he was saying, they wouldn't have had different interpretations of it. It's almost like they were using the fact that he talks in riddles to imbue his words with their own meaning, using the vague general theme as a guide. It doesn't help that he can't explain anything without talking in riddles, and when definitions are requested, they are along the lines of "a reality check is when your reality gets checked by a higher reality" or "a moral truth is a truth that's moral". If that all makes sense to you, then god speed.
Personally, I agree he probably wasn't initially talking about white nationalism. But that's what happens when you communicate in an oblique and circumlocutory manner and are unwilling or unable to provide adequate explanations for your ideas when pressed. The people who thought he was talking about white nationalism thought they understood what he was talking about, too.
I'll take your word for it.

The study did also partial out the vegans v meat eaters. They had higher depression (5 studies), but not higher anxiety (3 studies).
I take a fairly strong ethical line against the mistreatment of animals. I will not buy products that have been tested on animals, and I object to scientific research that causes suffering to animals and would not engage in such research myself. I don't like visiting zoos, because I don't like to see animals caged.
These are core parts of my moral compass, but I don't think I've ever posted about it on social media or lectured anyone else about my views. As a consequence, I've never been bullied or ostracized. I'm not saying vegans are never bullied or ostracized, but this is more likely to happen when you start lecturing other people about their behaviour.

you nailed it.
i try couple time interact with him in the RGT thread, its awful.
as soon u try to get some tangible stuff, it goes nowhere.
Even though dualism is not ultimately true, it is subjectively true. Meaning, the only way I’ve been able to make meaningful progress through the meta story is by using a dualistic lens.
My conclusion is the Creator wants to show and teach what he wants to share through a dualistic setting. If you try to use a monistic lens, whether it’s materialism or spiritual monism, then you get punished for it. With spiritual monism, you become victim to spiritual bypassing and deception. With ma
You answered it
Awesome..... 'cause it means less federal tax for everyone.
That seems reasonable but the point still remains that he isn't gaining whites he's losing them but he is gaining minorities-- which goes against everything we're told about him and the maga movement.
We were told by the geniuses in this thread that the divide between left - right and trump- harris was smart vs duimb. This was confirmed by reading posts from toothless morons from their hometown on facebook.
so basically they're calling minorities toothless r tards
I think its pretty simple. People stopped believing the lies and propaganda. Hoax after hoax debunked. "Very fine people" "Bloodbath" etc became very obvious. Probably more importantly people saw that the left weren't helping them at all. All their claims and track record fell way short. The cost of groceries and living was choking them. The "defund the police" movement or mentality lead to stores just being shut down, having empty shelves, or everything locked up in the most leftist places. Homeless doing drugs, taking viscous dumps, and sleeping everywhere. Blocks and blocks of tents and people on the pavement.
And so people could sum it all up. OK this city and many like it have been run by the left for a very long time. My life has become very expensive/unnaffordable, there's addicts and criminals sprawled across the streets, things are looking like a lawless mess. This isn't working
You can try to explain this away, and you may have some points, but I think this is how a lot of people felt and a lot of those people are minorities
Since cats are significantly cheaper to feed than children it makes sense that educated cat moms felt the burden far less. Also trump is aesthetically repulsive to them just like rachael levine is to hat wearing maga diehards

People with higher empathy and neuroticism tend to have higher levels of anxiety and depression from what i've seen. I think the choice of being vegan selects for these types of people to begin with. I haven't followed the conversation closely so pardon me if that's been covered
How many other stars did Harris have to pay for their endorsement?
The Harris campaign paid $1 million to Winfrey’s company on October 15, according to a report in the Washington Examiner, coming after a star-studded town hall that Winfrey hosted for the vice president in September.
Winfrey also appeared at Harris’ final rally in Philadelphia on the eve of Election Day, with the talk-show star offering a rare endorsement of a presidential candidate.
And as this payment was not disclosed at the time it also appears to be illegal.
If the candidate or campaign authorizes and finances a covered communication (including any solicitation), the notice must state that the communication was paid for by the authorized committee.
Trump should pardon Harris for unity
Apparently Harris was such a horrible candidate that even Oprah wouldn't endorse her without being paid.
AOC-Trump voters apparently are a thing and sound a lot like victor does
Hey guys, check this out, campaign finance violations are bad again.
That doesn’t really reflect on Harris. Oprah has always been a whore.
