So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.
Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.
A bit of an anemic OP, I know, just interested to hear people's thoughts now that the election uncertainty is over.

Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dished out wild COVID-19 conspiracy theories this week during a press event at an Upper East Side restaurant, claiming the bug was a genetically engineered bioweapon that may have been “ethnically targeted” to spare Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people.
Kennedy floated the idea during a question-and-answer portion of raucous booze and fart-filled dinner at Tony’s Di Napoli on East 63d Street.
“COVID-19. There is an argument that it is ethnically targeted. COVID-19 attacks certain races disproportionately,” Kennedy said. “COVID-19 is targeted to attack Caucasians and black people. The people who are most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese.”
“We don’t know whether it was deliberately targeted or not but there are papers out there that show the racial or ethnic differential and impact,” Kennedy hedged.

If you run on a campaign that declares the FBI corrupted and infiltrated by enemies of the country why would you allow them to probe you?
So if you want to commit crimes while president (or install compromised people who will commit crimes for you), all you need to do is announce (with zero evidence) that the security apparatus is corrupt thus rendering you and your nominees immune from checks or investigations. Not my fault the system has no independent law enforcement / prosecution. Ask to change the constitution if that's your preference. Until then accept what the rules of the game are. Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. doubled down on his opposition of a cease-fire in Gaza and pointed to what the allied forces did to combat Nazi Germany in the 1940s.
Kennedy joined “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Thursday and explained his point of view.
“I would say that hostages have to be returned and Hamas has to be disarmed, or else how can you have a peace?” Kennedy said.
Morgan interjected, asking the candidate how he would plan to disarm Hamas.
“We’re not sure how many are left but certainly thousands of them. When they’re embedded now in refugee camps amongst hundreds of thousands of civilians, millions of them,” Morgan said. “And so, every time you … launch an offensive against them, as we saw with the apparent targeted attack of two Hamas terrorists in the Rafah camp, and as you saw with the rescue of these hostages.”
Morgan noted that at least 210 Palestinian civilians were killed by Israel during its rescue operation of four hostages. He then posed another question for Kennedy.
“At what point does this desperation to eliminate the last members of Hamas get overtaken by the sheer volume of civilians being killed in the process, which I cannot believe will do anything longer term than ferment the ideology that drove Hamas in the first place,” Morgan said.
Kennedy responded by detailing an argument between the United Kingdom’s Winston Churchill and President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1944.
“Roosevelt said we have to denazify Germany and if we don’t denazify Germany … the Nazis are gonna rise up and do the same thing again. Churchill did not want an unconditional surrender for the Nazis. He said, ‘We’re gonna have to kill too many civilians to do that and everybody will fight for the death,’ but Roosevelt won that argument,” Kennedy said.
“We killed about 2 million Germans during World War II in order to get to Berlin and denazify it,” he continued. “Today, Germany is the richest country in Europe, it’s one of the most powerful economies in the world. I think it’s the fourth most powerful and nobody’s scared of Germany because it’s a peaceful country.”

The only thing that will potentially thwart Trump is inadequate enablement from those surrounding him. He didn’t anticipate Pence breaking with him on Jan6. I think the VA will be shut down nationwide by the end of next year, and veterans will no longer be able to rely on government handouts to get them through life. They'll have to get in the back of the line with the rest of us for private insurance. Many of them will lose their homes, which is good because they probably didn't deserve them in the first place. It's insane to me that these people get free handouts for life, all for slapping each other's asses with towels in the barracks for a few years. Excited to see how these veterans fare without the socialism they hate so much.

I think the effort has been pretty clear - create an environment where there is total chaos. If you cripple government institutions, then you have a better chance of crippling government processes, such as voting and the transfer of power.
That has always seemed to be his goal to me, but he just had the wrong people in place the last time. I'm sure his private talks with Putin and Un went over the basics.

Ah, the ol' "he's trying to reduce the power of the federal gov't as much as he can so he can take over the world" strategy. What he did in his first term and what he said is going to do next (cut taxes, reduce regulation, cut gov't spending, etc.) is the complete opposite of what you'd expect from someone who was power hungry. Why didn't we all see this coming? I'm glad we have you here to read between the lines.
