Trump 2nd term prediction thread

Trump 2nd term prediction thread

So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.

Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.

A bit of an anemic OP, I know, just interested to hear people's thoughts now that the election uncertainty is over.

Insane in the membrane?

So you disagreed w/ my statement because of one of the listed ingredients? MSG does cause issues such as nausea, headaches, etc.. in some individuals. Long term results have been debated. Making food manufacturers clearly label for MSG specifically, is probably fine. I'll remove it from that list if it makes you feel better. 😀

No and no.

I disagreed with your statement because of most (not quite all) of them. That's why I said "for example."

But no. There is no evidence that MSG causes nausea or headaches unless you take absurd amounts of it, but literally almost anything would do that. There are no long term result debates that are serious about this.

As an exercise, please look up all the EXTREMELY COMMON foods that contain MSG naturally. I think you'll be surprised. I'm not even joking when I tell you that the misinformation you are spreading is rooted in racism. You should look into it.

This is exactly why I said this is not the take. It's full of blatant falsehoods. And not just about MSG.

And as a reminder, the USA is ranked 3rd globally in food quality and safety.

They even use ivermectin too without any problem in your pov .
What’s so wrong with mRNA ?

It’s probably coming from the same « pharma racket » anyway right ?

Who wants to tell him that cattle are already full of mRNA?

Which ones you do disagree with then?

There is some scientific evidence that MSG causes those issues in some individuals. Apparently it has something to do w/ certain blood types eating it on empty stomachs. I posted it because I read it in a medical journal. But like I said in my last post, then remove it. My point was that there are some additives that are bad for your health. Additionally, there's way too much sugar and salt in American foods. Why is this controversial?

And yes, we have high safety standards in the USA compared to a lot of countries. Quality.... I've traveled around the world to many places. I know the GFS index you're referencing, and I don't know how exactly it's rated. But I can tell you that for myself and other people I know, eating consistently in countries like Japan, Denmark, Canada, France, Netherlands, etc... the food quality is far superior to Americas. Most of these countries grow based specifically on quality, and not quantity. Ever eat a tomato in Italy? Or an apple or blackberries from Canada? Carrots from Denmark? They don't taste anything like what I eat in America. Not even remotely close. And before you try and argue that certain countries have soils, ya de da... no, I'm talking about all the food in the country. I can barely taste the fruits and vegetables in America. Also, I'm a foodie and an amateur home chef, so I try and pay attention to these things.

My only point was that if I'm looking for a positive from RFK jr, is that he'll likely remove some additives that aren't healthy. Apparently not MSG though. 😉

You think you should ban foods that cause adverse reactions in some people under some conditions? You'd end up banning probably like 75% of all foods, starting with every single allergy out there.

by d2_e4 k

You think you should ban foods that cause adverse reactions in some people under some conditions? You'd end up banning just about everything.

No... that's not what I'm saying. Never said that.

I've been corrected about MSG. I had a point in my post somewhere, but we're arguing in tangents now... which is fun.

Sigh. No there isn't. Those issues do not occur when they eat:
Carrots, onions, cabbage, potatoes, tomatoes, grapes, grape and tomato juice, mushrooms, parmesan cheese, cheddar cheese, anchovies, clams, mackerel, oysters, scallops, eggs, cured ham, shrimp, chicken, walnuts, broccoli, corn, etc., ALL of which contain MSG naturally.

What you read is studies where they used ABSURD AMOUNTS of MSG. And again, this will cause weird crap to happen to people for ANY substance you overload them with.

My point is RFK Jr doesn't have the slightest effing clue what needs to be removed from foods. He needs to stay the hell away from those decisions because he has no education or training on the subject and has opinions clearly biased by a conspiratorial mindset. Which is why I said "this is not the take." It's not just about MSG. That was just a single example from your list, chosen because it perfectly illustrates my point.

I'm not going to debunk all of the items on your list one by one, but most of them are only dangerous in, again, doses far higher than what is present in the foods they are in. Which, again, is true for basically EVERYTHING.

Prediction:

Lights dim, music starts, and Vince McMahon storms a press conference, knocking out JD Vance, and taking the Vice Presidency.

He puts on a big gold VPOTUS belt, awards Donnie the POTUS one, and Elonia the FLOTUS.

i would be surprised if this didn't happen

But bro, RFK just wants to make America healthy again. Don't you want America to be healthy? Why do you hate America?

I like how he asked me if I've ever eaten an apple or blackberry from Canada, though. Never heard of the place, personally. I guess the good news is that, now, as an amateur home chef, he can use MSG without fear. MSG is the king of flavor.

I will agree with him that fruit & veg in America tends to be pretty tasteless compared to what you get in Europe, at least it was when I was there 20 years ago. No idea why that is though.

Especially tomatoes. Tomatoes in America are ****ing terrible.

Yeah, I've had better elsewhere, too, it's just that that's not what's being measured. It's the overall food supply. This is just making me hungry, though.

i dk why soils = ya de da in this conversation, seems like a factor that could explain produce tasting worse across the board. also assume american produce has been naturally selected / genetically modified to be as massive as possible with zero regard for taste

Yeah that's what I figured. The tomatoes are much bigger than anywhere else I've seen and totally tasteless.

Also don't be talking bad about our food quality here in the states. We even have sushi at our gas stations.

My poi

Sigh... when the enzymes in your body break down the chemical compounds in your food, how they impact the body (specifically your digestive tracts) depends on what else they're absorbed with. So naturally occurring MSG in the case of mushrooms, cheese, tomato, etc.. , is going to be different from artificially produced MSG, because it's being added to a set of compounds it otherwise naturally wouldn't be.

Chemically, they are the same. How they react in the body will be different in foods high in artificial MSG. Like you said, eat too much of just about anything, it can cause issues, and certain foods high in MSG can do this. If I get bored later I'll look for some studies on this.

Eat two bags of raw top ramen on an empty stomach, and let me know how you feel.

But again, for the 3rd time... my point wasn't about MSG. You can disagree and say RFJ jr isn't qualified, and I wouldn't disagree with you. I'm hoping he's going to listen to some experts on this, but the one, and maybe only thing I would agree with him on is this specific issue. Too many highly cancer causing additives and preservatives in our foods.

I guess I found the guy who thinks this is controversial.

Please put NSFW images in spoilers.

if rfk bans imitation krab i'm expatriating

Ask any farmer and they'll tell you. America grows for quantity, not quality. There's almost no small farmers left in America. It's all big Ag.

by smartDFS k

if rfk bans imitation krab i'm expatriating

honestly, i'm very interested to see what happens

the one and only time he said anything that i agreed with and resonated strongly with was his rant against processed foods - which i think are legit one of the biggest problems facing america

by Gorgonian k

Also don't be talking bad about our food quality here in the states. We even have sushi at our gas stations.

I hope that's a joke, because I wouldn't touch that.

But a 7/11 in Tokyo... I'd eat any bento box or sashimi for that matter.

So the party of freedumb is gonna start banning stuff that some conspiracy nut thinks is unhealthy?

That's what I thought about Trump 8 years ago.

Eat two bags of raw top ramen on an empty stomach, and let me know how you feel.

LOL. You think I've never done this? hahaha

by FreakDaddy k

But again, for the 3rd time... my point wasn't about MSG.

Neither was mine, but in every single reply to me you've simply spread more misinformation about it. Would be cool of you to just stop doing that.

by FreakDaddy k

You can disagree and say RFJ jr isn't qualified, and I wouldn't disagree with you.

Well that's good, because it's an objective, indisputable fact.

by FreakDaddy k

I'm hoping he's going to listen to some experts on this, but the one, and maybe only thing I would agree with him on is this specific issue. Too many highly cancer causing additives and preservatives in our foods.

I think you'd need to support this statement with objective data.

by FreakDaddy k

I guess I found the guy who thinks this is controversial.

You found the guy that knows it's BS. I've made my point quite well here, so I'm just going to leave it at that. You are free to believe all the US food supply is poisoned propaganda you'd like, I guess. I have better things to do.

by d2_e4 k

So the party of freedumb is gonna start banning stuff that some conspiracy nut thinks is unhealthy?

No silly.. he's going to consult Dr. Oz... your new Medicare and Healthcare leader.

by FreakDaddy k

I hope that's a joke, because I wouldn't touch that.

Don't worry, that's not my hand.
