General TV Discussion and Thread for Shows Without A Thread Thread

OOTV doesnt like family comedies much huh? Raising Hope and The Middle are two of the best(possibly the best outside of NBC)comedies on tv yet no threads.

Just an observation.

The Blacklist is one of the last good network shows

The 40mins multi season network shows are not for the netflix bingers. It's for us people that want to escape the world and live in fantasy.

It is so fun to just dive into an universe for a few months, watching a few episodes per week that have tons of filler. You feel like you're part of the group. It's like reading a novel or series of 15,000 pages.

Im starting to re-watch my old favorite shows like this in bed to fall alseep and its such a comforting feeling.

I've tried this, but nothing has managed to suck me back in. So for me it's usually new stuff, or old favorites that you can watch out of order, like L&O and Seinfeld.

Volume Normalization FTW. Maybe not for audio purists but I rarely watch anything without.

I need to look that up, thanks!

Love the tactical stuff and the action but I wish they cut down on the family stuff, that's boring and the older daughter is so ****ing annoying.

Genuinely enjoyed the first season, but after episode 2, and no moment in particular, I dumped it. Everything just felt…. Off.

Say Nothing is really good 4 episodes in. I feel like it’s gonna be pretty crushing by the end.

Very, very hyped! The British Band of Brothers.

I liked the concept and the first couple seasons but got tired of the repetitive nature of the stories.

Landman on Paramount Plus may just be Taylor Sheridan’s pinnacle. Billy Bob Thornton being himself, smoking hot daughter in bikini, John Hamm being a morally ambiguous badass all set around Texas oil rigs? Don’t yet know whether this can sustain multiple season arcs, but it’s fun as hell while it lasts.

finished Mayor of kingstown sereies 3 (was slow to watch this one i had forgot about it)

anyways its on par with season 1 and 2 not fantastic viewing but watchable.,

one gripe i can think of that spans the 3 seasons is the leader of the russian outfit - who casted this ? its surely bad casting.

first off Aidan Gillan is a good actor, but didnt pull off the russian accent at all - as a irish man i could clearly hear his irish accent under it.

Yorick van Wageningen - the russian boss in series 3 was also naff, his accent didnt sound right either and after a google search turns out he is Dutch

they had a prime character in series 3 who is ukraniun and probably a better actor for the role Mark Ivanir and hes just a henchman.

Not sure about the casting people on this series but was crap.

The rest of the casting was good though so not sure whats up there.

Watched 3 eps of Lioness last night. Was great and easy to watch.

Thumbs up. The role suits Billy Bob to a tee.

das boot

German show that came out a few years ago. I'm watching it on Hulu and enjoying it pretty much. I think you have to be a fan of the genre though.

From season finale was pretty badass.

From season finale was pretty badass.

I want to watch this but these shows always disappoint with terrible endings. Is this one different ?

Its going to be 5 seasons and there ALOT of mysteries and questions left, so no one really knows.

I think its a great show and the S3 finale really delivered, got alot of answers.
Judging from what happend next season is going to be wild/even more complicated though

Worth it imo, fun ride so far.

I watched it when it first came out. IIRC, it was pretty good.

Great to hear. Finished s1 last night. Going to wait a week or so in order to get thru s2 without needing to wait for next ep drop.

S2 starts Jan 17. Gives some time to refresh. I don't think I'll watch the season but maybe a 1 hour refresh vid.

The PBS series NOVA has been running some shows on the solar system. Each episode has a theme like "Strange Worlds", or "Icy Worlds", or whatever. So it's discussing all parts of the system from large to small, within an interesting cross-section.

It's been pretty good, recommend for space nerds.

Spoiler
Show

Except when it shows something like two space rocks colliding, and has the noise. C'mon, be better than that, especially for an educational show.

ooooo 2 eps of The Agency are out.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt26656917/

Based on the series The Bureau (2015). Follows a world of even deeper intrigue and subterfuge, with characters fighting their own battles as they grapple with existential threats to the nation and the world.

Martian is a covert CIA agent ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station. When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission are pitted against his heart; hurling them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage.

I'd be interested in that if I hadn't just finished watching The Bureau about a week or so ago. Too soon to watch the same show over.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Southland is the best cop drama I've ever seen. I had no idea about this show until I came across it on Tubi. It deals with detectives, street cops, public relations, gangs, etc. Every episode is its own story, but at the same time, there are ongoing stories mixed in and some excellent character arcs. It's gritty, immersive and almost hyper-realistic. At times, you'll hate the cops, and other times, you'll empathize with their corruption. For a writer, that is no easy task. Has anyone here seen it?

Saw it in it's original run. Special group of actors as well.

It's damn good for sure, but Homicide is probably better (have not watched it since it's original run either)
