Netflix "Watch Instantly"
I just recently rejoined Netflix and was pleased to see they have added a "Watch Instantly" feature where you can stream a movie over the internet. The selection of movies/shows is subpar, but it's free baby! Well, free as in no extra charge. You can watch 1 hour for every dollar/month your subscription is and it doesn't affect your queued/shipped movies at all. Minuses are that you have to be running Windows and Internet Explorer, but the quality is great! I have a garbage laptop, but it looks the same as a DVD to me and it hasn't skipped/paused/hiccuped once so far.
Watched 2/6 of Black Doves on Netflix. It's good, another spy thriller.
This looks good tonight on Prime:
I'm really enjoying the Jackal, although haven't watched the most recent ep
if you haven't watched it, Line of Duty is a really great British TV show. Original and engaging and every season is both related but very different. I thought I'd watched them all but then a new season (from 2021) dropped recently and I've remembered how great the show was

Yep, I agree with both, and I haven't watched today's episode. I have to finish Black Doves first.
I finished Black Doves, it's solid. Hoping for season 2 which looks likely.
I'm not familiar with the true story, I think they change it up a bit on this. It has a Fargo feel to it.
Interior Chinatown has a decent change at being on my top shows of the year list. I'm 6 episodes deep and it gets more and more interesting and enjoyable as it goes on. Jimmy O Yang is great in the role but my favorite side-part is whenever Ronny Chieng is on screen, especially when he's working at the restaurant.
Really enjoyed the first episode of The Agency. It has an aesthetic I like a lot. Found the original French series to be decent but clunky and artless. This version is visually stunning, even when we're just staring at Michael Fassbender's face.
I watched the first episode, and it's the same story as The Bureau, just with names and locations changed.
Re: the bolded, I see this solely as a function of American TV budget vs. French TV budget, and since I consider The Bureau to the the GOAT espionage series, I probably won't continue.

never heard of that one before, just watched the trailer, downloading the whole thing now.
thx for the tip
New Trailer. Severance Season 2 - 1/17/25
Interior Chinatown is great so far, lucky they got the author to be the screenwriter.
The next season [3] of Insp. Dalgliesh came out on Friday on Acorn. Top rating for the whole series. 3 mysteries a season, 90 mins.
2/20/25
Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story on Max is good.
Black Doves is aggressively bad at spy intrigue. It's barely passable as entertainment.
Watch Little Drummer Girl (2018) with star in the making Florence Pugh, Alexander Skarsgard, and Michael Shannon instead.
Yeah, I thought Black Doves was pretty bad and boring.
Anybody else doesn’t like Dune: Prophecy???
I’m such a fan of Dune, but this show I can’t really get into.
Disappointed.
Little Drummer Girl 2018 is quite good.
The Night Manager with Hiddleston and Laurie and Colman is even better.

hard to **** up anything that was originally written by Le Carre. the man was a genius
my favourite recent spy show was Condor which combined some spycraft with 'being on the run from the man/ruthless bad people' which is my single favourite set up for a show and then it had the overlay of a truly gorgeous female villain
