In other news
In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there are important, interesting or just plain weird things happening out there and a group of people can find these better than one.
I thought I would test with a thread for linking general news articles about "other news" and discussion. Perhaps it goes into the abyss that is page 2 and beyond, but it is worth a try.
Some guidelines:
- Try to find the "clean link", so that links to the news site directly and not a social media site. Avoid "amp-links" (google).
- Write some cliff notes on what it is about, especially if it is a video.
- It's not an excuse to make outlandish claims via proxy or link extremist content.
- If it's an editorial or opinion piece, it is polite to mark it as such.
- Note the language if it is not in English.
- There is no demand that such things be posted here, if you think a piece merits its own thread, then make one.
In all seriousness, I think a giant part of the problem is the extremely successful propaganda and brainwashing efforts undertaken by Qatar, Turkey under Erdogan, and other members of the Muslim Brotherhood network; along with the Shiite Islamist IRI and their networks. That has resulted in much of the Middle East embracing radical Islam in recent decades.
And I am to an extent sympathetic to Middle Eastern leaders who saw what a backwards, horrible ideology this was and resisted it, even to the point of taking extreme totalitarian measures. And I think Western sycophants (mostly progressives) that have supported Islamism spreading have had a huge negative influence.
But at the end of the day, if the hill you choose to die on is, "The people should be able to self determine what they want," and if forcing women to wear burkas and have arranged marriages at age 9, and destroying non Islamic art is what they want; then we have to just live with it. And this includes when Islamist govts. invariably decide it is time to destroy Israel and liberate Aqsa, at which point they generally "find out."
FWIW, on my social media feed there are persons saying the Turkish supported rebels have moderated over time, and there will be no repeat of ISIS. But I kind of remember Taliban apologists arguing the same thing, and that was proven false. So I guess we shall see.
Also, if one was inclined to conspiracy theories, the speed with which Syria folded; and concurrently the speed at which Turkey, Russia and Iran started having meetings how to divide the spoils; might lead one to suspect this was all pre-arranged.

the real problem is that the more-compatible-with-western-values form of islamism, shia Islam, decided to organize itself around the genocide of Israel as the number one priority since the Iran revolution.
salafism in all it's variants decided to postpone that "goal" and target shia power structures where both forms of islams previously co-existed and we helped them achieving that to ensure the survival of Israel.
Seemed Assad regime is officially over !
Finally some good in this world happening ….
At least some small collateral “benefits” stemming from the Ukraine war .
Fantastic news.
Hopefully they destroy all the ancient art in Damascus and get the women in burkas.
it not really those guys taking charge now

I'm happy to see this, but the thing is you never know how these things will ultimately turn out.
Either way, it's been a rough year for anyone who is a client of Iran.
If this is true (and I haven't seen any proof of it on video, it's just here say at this point that the news stations all of a sudden picked up on), it would be due to their propulsion system. If they do have anti gravity capabilities (the ones I have on video are two of them floating in the air silently, so it could be the case) they're able to hover by distorting gravity which also in return distorts time ("space/time") because somehow it's all connected.
By anti gravity capabilities, you are talking about a technology beyond miniature helicopter blades on each corner of the drone, right? Technically, a helicopter has anti gravity capabilities, correct? What evidence do you have that these drones “distort gravity” and can “distort time”? How is it all connected?
. I'm not an expert on the specific technology but you can look up people like Bob Lazar who was a rocket nerd that they scooped up to help them back engineer them before he got caught taking his friends to watch a test flight which is why he came out in public back in the 90's to begin with…..
Why would bob lazar have any information on this new alien technology? Lazar “worked” with UFOs from the 1970s? This is obviously much newer technology from today, it’s not 60 year old alien tech.
They're about to do a segment about the drones on NBC Nightly News which started at 6:30 eastern. This is probably the most national exposure we've gotten so far.
Tonight is another big night, already some incredible video.

Idk if this is a serious question or just a troll, but these are not those types of drones. There's no "little propeller". They're able to outrun fighter jets, they're not the toy drones your thinking of. There's not even any concrete evidence that their unmanned.
Yeah we know you believe how great fascism , dictatorship , totalitarian regime are great for the people ….
Assad family stayed in power through the will of the people and not by force because they were loved so much right ?
Coming from a guy shouting freedom at every corner and condemning violence from the state being the worst evil of all 0o….
Another paradox by you Luciom ?
Ah yes violence from state is fine when you like what they are violent against …
There seem to be some Russian media’s saying Assad found refuge in Russia .
What a surprise .

Now you are saying they are manned vehicles, not drones? Who is trolling?

Man the people substituting Assad are like the Talibans, radical islamists that will persecute christians, shias, treat women like animals and so on.
Assad was a semi-secular minority dictator but syrians aren't getting a democracy here, not sure if you are following events.
It's theocratic monsters substituting a "normal" secular monster. It's worse for the people
That people are celebrating Islamicists taking over another country is beyond me.
There is distinction between being happy between a brutal 50 years dictatorship falling and be pro Islamic .
What makes you think those Islamist « extremism » will end up being in charge ?
Even tho I despise Islamist ( fwiw any theocracies) , I still rather see a democratic Islamist ( i admit chances are rather low) country then a dictatorship shrug.
Anyway , if they becomes as bad then just hope they get discarded too shrug .

Well will see how it goes won’t we .
Better to have a chance at a democracy then a never ending dictatorship .
For a pro freedom guy like yourself , you should get that right ?
If the Jihadists promised to get corporate money out of US politics would you support them here too?

The recent history of the MENA would suggest otherwise. History has shown time and time again, "democracy" without liberal values and a belief in institutions quickly just devolves into dictatorship. You are lucky if you get one real election, and you almost never get more than one.
Empirically, it would appear relatively benevolent monarchies seem to work best in most of the world that doesn't have liberal values to underpin a functional democracy. However, for various reason the odds of ending up with an organic benevolent monarchy are very low.
You basically have Singapore and a couple of the Gulf States, and after that it is very bleak picture.
You're trolling, not me. I stated a fact, that there's no evidence to prove whether they're manned or unmanned vehicles. How is that a troll?
This is a pretty big story in NJ that's being undermined by the little amount of news coverage it's been getting, and also trolls like you.
DRONE UPDATE: Today a group of 20 NNJ mayors signed a letter begging the Governer to publicly address this issue, however according to one of my own sources the governor is being stone walled by the feds so he's between a rock and a hard place.
There's a lot of misinfo in the above info (it's Fox news, another fake media site) these vehicles are much bigger than a car, most are about the size of a citation or a hawker.
In the following video, what also has me scratching my head as a pilot, is the rear-facing "landing lights" or spot lights. Planes don't go in reverse, and they don't have this type of lighting in the back.
BREAKING NEWS - Jury finds veteran Daniel Penny not guilty in chokehold death of Jordan Neely on a NYC subway. He was the Marine who stepped in to protect a fellow passenger . BLM last week said they will riot in the streets if he's acquitted.

That is good news If there is one person I hope Trumps team goes after its Alvin Bragg . He may be squeaky clean but if he is not

If my choice was between living under an oppressive regime that had imprisoned and tortured family members and a new government run by people claiming to be former jihadists... then it's worth seeing if maybe the new government works out. Basically with Assad it's a 100% terrible situation, with the new folks maybe its still awful and maybe its not.

How did that work out for Libya and Iraq Though sadly I would take the same choice
bunch of Euro countries just said they werent going to accept anymore Syrian refugees and are going to start sending them back.
meanwhile Israel and the USA are doing hundreds of bombing runs and the guy in charge used to behead people for fun. seems like a safe place!
