Virtual Currency - Alt Coin Discussion Thread
I wanted to post a different thread to discuss the "crypto-coin" boom that happened this week.
For those who don't know, crypto-coins (or alt coins) have exploded in popularity among the bitcoin crowd. Some coins have gone from 5-10 cents to 2-3 dollars, making early investors millions. The market caps have gone from $500,000 being significant to the same coins have 20-30 million in market cap just two weeks later.
While alt-coins have long been a favorite of the "pump and dump" crowd - much like penny stocks - it's been their popularity in China this week that have many thinking if the run can be more sustained.
Even more, some (like WorldCoin) have financial services coming out that will allow direct crypto-fiat transactions...much like Coinbase is for bitcoin.
Anyway, I really wanted to get a good discussion going here of these coins. Full disclosure: after staying FAR away from alt coins this summer I recently jumped in to three that I like a lot and think they have a lot of long-term potential: WDC, Megacoin, and Peercoin. I'd love to hear what coins others like and the reasons why!

Have you ever encountered a Litecoin bull? You severely underestimate how redacted and delusional these bag holders are. They think LTC is going to 20k this cycle.
Dino coins won’t die because their bag holders keep convincing themselves “okay, next cycle we will make it back. this coin can’t stay down for this long!” If you own >0 LTC (or some other pointless dino coin) and 0 BTC then you are redacted and should not be investing in crypto.
But they will continue to bleed vs. their BTC pairs and we gladly accept their sacrifice.

There's a lot of moving parts within this project but the higher level concept - take online streaming information - games, sports, news - and identify actionable information on screen. Trained AI Agents 'learn' and 'act'.
It's basically allowing web3 components on top of existing web2 games and media.

main goal of data machines is to earn dGold for the upcoming $LIFT airdrop. There's a dgold/eth liquidity pool on Uni to sell or buy but when the $LIFT token is released, you'll receive an airdrop based on whether you dumped your dGOLD or held in your wallet. Right now you can stake some ETH on Base chain, claim some rewards, chill. It's way early.

Why has XRP been the most successful mainstream coin in the current run up?
it's a combination of things which include the Fed Lawsuit loss, bull market cycle and federal integration with the new administration.
ultimately, XRP is not much more than a remittance and payment token... to me there isn't much value there.
the price shot up when XRP was relisted at major exchanges.

I don't own any and agree with you as well, crazy how many US people I know that are so incredibly bullish on it; i find it kind of wild. Was just posting additional pieces of news to support why the price has gone up so much to answer the question asked
Banks might use XRP and rlUSD for settlement but the way it works all demand should be cancelled out by equal selling.
Bank of Italy owes Bank of France $2,000,000. BoI would have 2 million rlUSD and use that to buy $2M worth of XRP. It would then transfer the XRP to BoF to settle the loan. Here's where XRP holders are mis-guided IMO. BoF isn't going to hold onto the XRP they're going to sell it for rlUSD and put that on the books for settling the loan. Holders think all these banks are going to take the counterparty risk of keeping XRP for duration for longer than the transfer. Banks don't want to speculate on XRP, they want their loans paid off.

AIXBT on base. Easily the best AI alpha coin rn…it will answer ?s on twitter but eventually will be fully closed off.
HYPE aka hyperliquid. This will go parabolic once the evm launches. T1 cex listings will come and with essentially a cult following of whale holders there will be a supply shock bc ppl want to hold longterm. If you farm at all it is 100% a necessity to start using hyperliquid immediately.
CHEX. Simple play. Tokenizing rwa and they’re even regulated.
GS aka Gammaswap. This is really deep in the defi trenches, but the product is amazing. They just don’t know how to explain it to ppl yet. Kinda like pendle last cycle. Kinda high fdv but the mc is low and in the right hands.

I'm just going to stick with Sui, Solana, Eth, BTC, building a bot right now that runs off sentiment analysis from YouTube transcripts and Twitter API and establish who moves the market the most. I say that but I know I'm going to buy some random **** coins when they lead the market.
I can't wait until Solana and Eth breakout. I do need a solid 2c-10c crypto product that fits the the Sui and Solana mould... anyone got a suggestion ?????

XRP was the first protocol I bought when I first started this journey... I bought something like 35,000 tokens at $.19 and sold when I doubled up. Oh well, this really sucks.
