Trump 2nd term prediction thread

Trump 2nd term prediction thread

So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.

Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.

A bit of an anemic OP, I know, just interested to hear people's thoughts now that the election uncertainty is over.

I doubt this does anything, but:

RFK Jr. Cabinet Nomination: Dozens Of Nobel Winners Urge Senate To Reject Trump’s HHS Pick
Mary Whitfill Roeloffs
Forbes Staff

More than 75 Nobel laureates have signed onto a letter urging senators to reject the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., president-elect Donald Trump’s pick for Health and Human Services secretary, warning a confirmation “would put the public’s health in jeopardy and undermine America’s global leadership in the health sciences.”

Is the file named "stuff that people smarter than me know but I'm too stupid to understand?"

Because if not, you should consider that title.

It’s not their choice …..
So despite the lies you believe it isn’t only illegals that can be deported .

if the babymommy comes here illegally and has baby, then the mother gets deported, of course she has to take the baby, even if he was "born here legally". Are you saying she should leave the baby behind because he's a citizen? That would be HORRIBLE !

Well nice example but that isn’t what it’s been talked about and btw if you would just dare to read actual news ….

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna182...

President-elect Donald Trump vowed to make immediate and sweeping changes after he takes office on Jan. 20, such as pardons for those convicted in the attack on the U.S. Capitol, and said he wants to find a legislative solution to keep Dreamers in the country legally.

So no it doesn’t talk about those examples .
So again , not just illegal will be deported like u claim .

Ok but what was the original point ?
U claim there would only be illegals being deported .
said by trump himself.

So hopefully you will stop spreading only illegals in the future.

I'm not sure what you are saying

The dreamers are illegals so technically can be deported but Trump wants to find a way legislatively to keep them here

How does this say non-illegals can be deported?

by metsandfinsfan k

How does this say non-illegals can be deported?

"He plans to deport millions of undocumented immigrants and try to end birthright citizenship."

Ending birthright citizenship, which is the whole point I brought up earlier. People who are born in this country are citizens automatically according to the constitution. Trump is saying he wants to disregard the constitution and end that practice so he can deport them, too.

But the constitutional purists think this is fine.

Again?I don't think anyone thinks that can be done without a constitutioal amendment n, so you're talking nonsense

And even so, if they did pass an amendment to end birthright citizenship, I don't think it would take away citizenship from people that already have it, I think it would be all future people

I'm literally quoting trump. He's the one talking nonsense, not me.

Why anyone defends him I have no idea.

What you think on this topic is not very valuable.

A 2011 factsheet by the American Immigration Council says eliminating birthright citizenship will affect everyone. All American parents would have to go through an arduous and expensive process of proving their children’s citizenship.

“Our birth certificates are proof of our citizenship. If birthright citizenship were eliminated, US citizens could no longer use their birth certificates as proof of citizenship,” the factsheet says.

That doesn't mean the citizenship would be taken away from the kids ..

But we can move on if you would like

It would be near impossible to pass that amendment. Even if you could it probably couldn't happen in this presidential term

You seem to like to worry too much about hypotheticals

It's going to be okay

Also if Al Jazeera is the best source you can find about how it would affect Us citizenship then lol

Yes, I claimed illegals will be deported. You said no, even legals will. I explained an example of how a legal would go back to their home country.

Once we make Canada part of USA there's more space there to send them so that's always an option I'm sure Trump will consider (and the Haitians speak already french).

Amendment is impossible to pass, but they will try to claim that "subject to the jurisdiction of" disqualifies children of illegals and possibly also children of people with other citizenships.

Then it's up to the courts, with a high probability of the courts saying no, but a chance they will agree.

And you seem to think it's ok for Trump to threaten nonsense like this since the guardrails will "probably hold" and think other people are wrong for talking about it. What a stupid attitude.

Who said Al Jazeera is the best source I can find? Also do you know what a source is, because Al Jazeera cited the source, Al Jazeera isn't the source themselves. No wonder you guys struggle to understand what's true and what's not.

Believe it or not, Luciom is correct. They already have a plan of attack for this, and it's easy to find places where they discuss this plan. The Supreme Court might be sane and rule this is nonsense, but we've seen the Supreme Court not be sane many times, so you can't just say "this probably won't happen."

Because of the jurisdiction clause which can be interpreted in various ways.

You might consider it "nonsense" but some common law countries re-interpreted and/or modified analogous clauses to disqualify children of illegals.

Ireland amended it's constitution removing a constitutional birthright to citizenship if parents aren't irish and delegating the topic to normal laws. They then passed a law to restrict birthright citizenship heavily

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twenty-sev...

Australia moved from american-style unrestricted birthright citizenship to children of aussie parents or legal permanent residents

by Luciom k

You might consider it "nonsense."

Yes, I consider it nonsense. There is no "might" about it. It's a horrific idea that will have horrific consequences with very little chance of being passed legitimately. Squarely in the nonsense category.

by Gorgonian k

Trump can suggest they make an amendment. I do not believe trump would try to deport legal residents without an amendment, no
