lig,
How do you get a decimal point in the number for possessions? Seems to me, you either possess the ball or you don't.
Thanks

FTs throw a monkey in the wrench
here's kenpom's forumula: Possessions = (FGA-OR) + TOs + (0.475)(FTAs)
do the calculation for each team, add those two numbers together, and then divide by two
on kenpom's site you'll see a whole number but that is bc he's already rounded up (or down) that final number
here's kenpom talking about the FT issue in 2004

i have a spreadsheet where i just plug in the numbers. here is my calc from the Rocky Top halftime

Thanks,
Blog makes sense but also reminds me that there are a lot of smarter people in this world than me. :p
SEC is 30-4 against the ACC this season
that has to be a record of some kind?
SEC is unreal stupid this year. There is no game on UK's SEC schedule I am completely comfortable in predicting a win. I mean in theory UK is ranked #4 and should handle South Carolina at home.
But I can't really say that after South Carolina just beat Clemson who beat UK. If any SEC team ends the regular season with u4.5 SEC losses they should immediately be the favorite to ship it
This years version of the SEC is potentially the greatest conference of all time. Oklahoma just beat Michigan tonight to remain undefeated. South Carolina, universally regarded as the worst team in the conference, just went to Clemson and beat them on the road.

Gonna stop you somewhat partially there. The South Carolina Clempson game was at South Carolina.
But yeah radio show of UK homers broke down the UK schedule and the results ranged from 11-7 to 13-5. 13-5 homer said at least two of his win picks were likely due to homerism
Also, if you remove preseason priors on Torvik, SEC has 7 of the top 23 teams
Drake wins at K State to go 10-0.
Might have something going.
man Auburn is a beast right now
29 years of data for KenPom and Auburn is now up to 5th all time
How did Avila end up at Saint Louis? No one would pay him?
Jim Larranga stepping down. Sounds like it’s effective immediately.
Leonard Hamilton will put this number over 5,000 wins
