Sometimes it seems Israel isn't just defending itself but counter attacking instead.
I'm not the most informed on the subject, is Hamas currently invading or attacking Israel?
Is there some point you think Israel will/should stop the war?

Of course they're also counter attacking, just like Ukraine is, that's what countries who are aggressively invaded or attacked tend to do.
Sure- if Hamas and various other Islamist militants surrender and return any hostages they're aware of, then Israel should stop the war.

i mean if some bunch of terrorists organise and carry out a mass murder and rape event against thousands of your civilians, and you have the means to bring them to justice and remove them from power, i think its clear and obvious that you do it

Sure, either when Hamas no longer exists or when Hamas agrees to permanent peace (meaning no re-arming themselves or ever attacking Israel again). The latter will never happen so the first is required.

Turkey/HTS have announced they intend to take control of NE Syria from the Kurds/US; and have basically told the US to get out of NE Syria. Keep in mind that before European colonialism the ME was more or less a colony of Turkey for hundreds of years. So in a way this would be returning the ME to the normal order of things. And because Turkey is an (increasingly extremist under Erdogan) Muslim nation and racially coded brown by progressives, they will be more acceptable overlords to both the Muslim world and progressive West.

Additionally, although Erdogan's rhetoric towards Israel has become increasingly more belligerent over the years, including intimating Jerusalem (Aqsa) belongs to Turkey; they have never actually attacked Israel (unlike the Iran axis which is attacking Israel from 5 fronts), so there is some hope things could cool down in a ME dominated by Turkey.

This sucks for the Kurds or course; but because there is no Jews/whites to be performatively outraged at, western leftists and the Muslim world have always been indifferent towards poor treatment of Kurds; and more generally Turkish imperialism and human rights abuses.

Of course we have no clue what Trump's plans are. Given his priority seems to be containing Iran and negotiating peace in Israel (and Ukraine), I kind of assume he would be willing to give Syria to Turkey in exchange for concessions in other arenas.

I've banged on a lot about Turkey. They are going to be a key factor this century and we will likely pay a big price for not welcoming and supporting them them when they were moving our way.

Possibly the biggest geopolitical mistake of my lifetime. Although since then we have had a few doozies.

Of course this may provide some stability for Israel but then again it may eventually mean there is a power welcomed into the ME that israel can't just respond to with extreme violence. A power that might claim they have the historic right to the whole area.

Any time that I notice that a bunch of people have been banned and I am curious what happened, I just open this thread.

Not sure how I would know that. And since I did not know that, I did not know what you thought of his posts. Not sure why that made you feel defensive.

It is a shame that a bunch of grown-up intelligent people can't have an open discourse without being baby governed in such a way.

The modding here is an illustration of the least amount of power being excessively used. But this is a private forum, and we are willing participants that don’t make the rules. and I could care less about trying to educate a mod how to handle a conversation (or about being banned and such).

I do think it is ridicules that someone was banned (even temp-banned) for calling me "a legit IDF psycho terrorist". That is a fair (although uneducated) opinion and a stance many holds. I don’t get offended by such claims, I would like to argue against it.

But discussing a discussion is almost as boring as watching paint dry, so Ill leave this at that.

BTW- I re-read the posts from my last ban, and how my post to Victor: "I hope your beeper doesn't go off" was interpretated by some.

Just to be clear - I was not threatening Victor and I think it is an LOL interpretation. I was implying Victor is a part of Hezbollah (as a cynical joke because of his stance, not that I believe that he is).
