Trump 2nd term prediction thread

Trump 2nd term prediction thread

So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.

Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.

A bit of an anemic OP, I know, just interested to hear people's thoughts now that the election uncertainty is over.

Whenever I hear something like this I'm always reminded of the line from DeNiro in Heat where he says "never get attached to something that you can't leave in 30 seconds flat when you feel the heat coming". While not a career criminal I've always tried to live my life like this.

One of my favourite movies

This is all nice from bernie except for MAGAs it's a win to cut billionaires taxes.
Kinda like rooting for a winner and wanting to see him win again and again.

yep.

Trump Jr. told attendees that “a vast majority of the
Republicans” are “our foes,” in addition to Democrats.
Then he gave specific instructions for the MAGA movement
to inflict “pain” on the “weakling” House Republicans who voted
against the failed budget proposal endorsed by his father and Musk.

I don’t understand trump narrative .
Owning Greenland for security reason ?
From who ?
Russian are friendly in his mind right ?

Musk’s power over Republicans has an eerie historical parallel

“The people who elected us are listening to Elon Musk.”

Limbaugh had the power to destroy but not create, something Musk is beginning to learn about

While the radio host built his audience, Musk bought his.

Trump thinks blackmail is a form of diplomacy.

Panama should teach them a lesson and cease permitting shipping for US-related goods

This seems like a fine approach if we are talking about material possessions and a dismal approach if we are talking about people.

USA Today: Matt Gaetz ethics report finds 'substantial evidence' he participated in statutory rape, prostitution

This is the guy Trump wanted to be the Attorney General of the USA.

Trump’s imminent surveillance powers pose a threat to Americans’ privacy

an aspiring authoritarian who’s promised to persecute his opponents will have a major
say over how some of the world’s most intrusive technologies and spy tactics are used

what this power could mean in the hands of a man with an
enemies list and a record of abusing the government to partisan ends

Gaetz is dogshit. A total slime human being. Just like Trump. And everyone knows it but doesn’t give a ****. The only reason he stepped down is cuz he doesn’t want to be humiliated during the confirmation hearing. The shitbags in the GOP would confirm him; they’ve already repeatedly shown they’re cowed by Trump and they’d show it again.

The people chose Trump. It was stupid and misguided, but this is what they wanted. As such, they should have to have him. All of him. Not just the tip; let him shove every inch in so he can MAGA.

This going to be an amazing soap opera for the next 4 years .
Stay tuned, starting January’s 2025 !

Vivek and Elon managing to be even worse than Trump at not admitting they give zero ****s about helping voters or improving the country, and just want to enrich themselves.

They willingly signed up for the military--the gun is effectively at your head the entire time wrt following orders. And getting all the shots they give is totally standard. When they tell you you're due for some more you agree to follow that lawful order or take the exit they were offering. If you want to accept interrupting the chain of command so brazenly what's the point of even having a military at that point? You may as well be some fat militia clowns running around in the woods. Don't like it--don't sign up to begin with.

That's all fair but I was talking more about my cousin who is a hairdresser.

Not watching the video but that image of Ted Cruz makes him look sorta cool for maybe the first time ever.

I mean if you think about the nature of the job>>proximity to people, licensing etc it shouldn't be that big a surprise. But I have no idea how hard it would've been to find a work-around if you really wanted. I'm gonna take a wild guess and assume there are some hairdressers still working who aren't vaxxed.

Vaccine hesitancy has never really been anything other than a micro-issue until people got a hold of the internet.

It wasn't an issue until they demanded that people take something that turns their cells into virus factories. (Aka an experimental gene therapy drug) over a virus that had me knocked out for roughly 6 hours.

Come back with some actual serious illness and people might change their tune.

the only vaguely comparable vaccine (doesn't give you 90%+ protection, protection fades seasonally, disease isn't horrific for normal people to begin with) that existed before was (and is) the flu vaccine which never had universal takers. more often than not less than half the population took it.

it never became a culture war issue because people lives weren't destroyed if they didn't give a **** and didn't take the flu vaccine.

Other vaccines that you take once in life for permanent massive proven beyond reasonable doubt protection from truly horrific diseases are very very very different things.

Dude, you can make a million different things our bodies do sound ominous it really wasn't a big deal lol And whether you realize it or not you've essentially been 'forced' into doing lots of things that are far riskier likely without even batting an eye.

But whatever you know I don't care if you're vaxxed or not so it doesn't really matter.

Because my job at the time was somewhat mission critical I just kept going to work and didn't tell anyone I was sick. But those 6 hours were kinda rough.

The most sick I have ever felt over the last 4 years is when I got my 2nd and 3rd Covid vaccine doses (I have had no boosters since).

In fairness, those where both 24 hour episodes, and I have had a couple real sicknesses where I didn't feel nearly as bad that lasted much longer. Neither me, or anyone in my immediate family, has been diagnosed with Covid, but it seems statistically impossible none of us have ever had it. I have 2 school age children that get sick a few times a year, and spread it around.

In my extended family (parents, siblings and their families) everyone else gets all their vaccines religiously, and have all gotten Covid multiple times; including some fairly serious illnesses. My sister got Covid about a month ago, right after attending a large indoor social gathering (100+ people) my whole family was also at.

Trump says he hates losers. So why does he keep picking them for key roles?

He has welcomed figures into the fold who have lost key races for the Republican Party.

Trump has said that the biggest mistake of his first term was choosing the
wrong people. In other words, people who would push back against his policies.

Trump is seeking out people who need him and, as a result, will be entirely malleable to his will.
