President Elon Musk
He probably deserves his own thread at this point, discuss accordingly
Another perfect example of why Trump loves the uneducated and stupid. He told them the economy was bad (it’s not) under Biden and because they are ignorant and stupid, they believed it. As a result, the ******s are now in charge and we get things like underage-finger-blaster MattGaetz for top cop and bear-eating philanderer RFK Jr in charge of the countries medicine kit. ******s. Every. Single. One.
But this is what Americans wanted. Bend over and get ready, it’s coming.
economy seems great
The obvious simple solution that avoids all the problems, is for Trump to send the National Guard to the homes of everyone who got a Phd in math or Physics from elite universities in the last 35 years and force them, at gunpoint, to become engineers. They would need a few months to brush up on some specifics they don't usually deal with. But given they have about an eight point IQ head start, on average, on our present top engineers, they would soon be doing a better job than almost all of our p
The number of US born math/physics PhD from elite universities in the last 35 years not already working as engineers probably wouldn't be enough to meet the need at 1 Mag 7 tech company.

Do top companies actually need the geniuses to immigrate? Can't they work with them remotely wherever they are in the world?
If Hassabis can direct all of Google AI research from London, what is the discussion really about?
Ideally, students should learn about religions and church history in public schools but not indoctrinated. Its influence and place in history can't be overstated. Of course, it's a big ask, and I don't see how it could work in today's world. It's not about knowing Greek and Hebrew but having teachers who are able to approach the subject objectively and offer different shades of meaning. Same with philosophy. By the time someone graduates high school, at the very least, they should have been exp
Sure, but that's completely impractical with where US culture is at the moment. Public schools simply can't teach the Bible like this. Nobody minds if the Iliad is taught because everyone agrees it's mythology perhaps based on some real Trojan war or maybe not even that. But nobody thinks Achilles and the stuff he is described as doing is historical and that's fine. But you can't treat Exodus or Moses the same way.
For example, even 1500 years before people knew anything about ancient Egyptian history monks questioned why/how the Pharaoh's daughter was able to name Moses based on a pun meaning to draw out as she drew him out of the Nile, that only works in Hebrew, a language she had no reason to know and would take on great significance in the story as he would later draw his people out of bondage. It's pretty good writing as the name Moses also sounds vaguely like Hellenized Egyptian city/names like Thutmose, so is plausibly Egyptian sounding to Hebrew speakers around 200 BC. But pointing that out would be offensive to the very people demanding the Bible should be taught in public schools.
this is not true at all, many people treat it like real history and "troy" has been "discovered" 3 separate times - the most recent one is a unescor heritage site
mind you, there's not a shred of evidence anywhere pointing it to being troy, only that if the book is based on real events there's a non zero chance that is the site
my gut says no because greeks and romans were obsessed with troy and never once referred to that site as troy in their times - to them it was always mythological

Agreed. That's why I said I don't know see how it could work in today's world, but an opposition wouldn't be exclusive to those fundamentalists. There are plenty of people who seem to take issue with the subject being taught at all and would certainly have a problem once apologetics entered the picture.

They are right having issues with that in the USA because it has been used by theocrats to push christian religious values using public money for a long time before courts managed to fully interrupt the practice.
Problem is today another "secular religion" took that place and the scam is ongoing.
Public schools shouldn't teach any value at this point but I don't think that's feasible, which is why the second best is to eliminate public schools

Not teaching it at all has been a compromise that works for everyone. Catholics don't want some Protestant teaching their kids about the Bible, non fundamentalists don't want obvious mythology presented as history, any christian might not want the Bible presented as another collection of myths alongside the Odyssey or Alexander Romance. But with church attendance at all time lows and more and more parents not caring if their kids learn anything about christianity or the bible outside of school some fundies in education are no longer ok with the compromise.

Yup I’m sure the lack of religion in school was the cause of majors problem the US has today ….
Let’s fix it lol .
Great maga plan .
But many do use the top 1% to claim the way the economy is construct today is perfect ….
Who does that? for the USA the claim that the economy is good is predicated on many things that don't involve the top1%, rather the top 10-25% , but also overall unemployment, median household income and a lot more, all broad society-wide numbers.

Fairly sure the Greeks and Romans regarded the Trojan War as historical and recognised the currently known site as 'Troias / Ilion / Ilium'. Legends usually come from somewhere rather than nowhere. Lancelot and the Round Table were invented by a French poet, but the Arthurian legend probably stems from the historical battle of Badon in c.500AD. Homer's characters may be made up, but the Trojan War (or wars, because it could have happened more than once) may not be.
This is Musk , which has been saying this for a long while but felt the need to repeat it because people for some reason try to claim he thinks otherwise

?? I don’t support an open immigration policy at all. I support a highly selective immigration policy.
Immigration should be limited to those who will obviously contribute far more than they take.

Btw the above was the normal way to think of immigration for basically all developed countries after
The funny thing is that sound like a moral that Jesus would agree with and yet all this radical right wing evangelicals says the opposite …
No universal healthcare even for Americans
Don’t tax people to help those in needs with public services
Etc .
Now that sounds what Jesus preach .
And then many wonders why maga perceived having no logic and are ready to believe any nonsense their leaders says ….
Is it really because of the economy or just about the lack of social services ?
Fwiw in Quebec we have far more services for homeless then any U.S. states and we ourself still have an increased of homelessness too .
Sounds crazy but many do want to live the way they do .
Maybe many suffers mental illness but they don’t want to be healed anyway so what is your solution ?

Pauperist christianity never had any significant hold over anglo christians, and it disappeared from mainstream catholic circles around the 15th century as well.
Savonarola, an ante litteram marxist, was burnt alive because of his leftism by the church.
You think you are playing a game you invented but the game has been played since the beginning of christianity and pragmatist people won a long ago (which is why christianity is still around, obviously redicolous ideologies that put you at a disadvantage in the resource war against others led you to be genocided)

As previously stated, students shouldn't be indoctrinated, but the lack of education on the subject has lead to widespread ignorance in both religious and secular populations. How do we understand the present if we haven't learned about the past? It's arguably the most influential aspect of our history, and religious themes are present throughout culture to this day, but most people are unable to recognize them because they never studied religion.

But yes, the lack of emphasis on religion, philosophy and the arts is a problem.
"During the last century, and part of the one before, it was widely held that there was an unreconcilable conflict between knowledge and belief. The opinion prevailed among advanced minds that it was time that belief should be replaced increasingly by knowledge; belief that did not itself rest on knowledge was superstition, and as such had to be opposed. According to this conception, the sole function of education was to open the way to thinking and knowing, and the school, as the outstanding organ for the people's education, must serve that end exclusively.
One will probably find but rarely, if at all, the rationalistic standpoint expressed in such crass form; for any sensible man would see at once how one-sided is such a statement of the position. But it is just as well to state a thesis starkly and nakedly, if one wants to clear up one's mind as to its nature." ―Albert Einstein, 1939

I absolutely refuse to waste a second of my time explaining or defending the following statement so spare yourself if you’re gonna @ me:
The idea that the Bible must be taught in American public schools because (insert literally any rationalization) is without question the stupidest **** I have ever heard
That moron didn’t even know that US schoolchildren can bring food to school and eat it. His opinion on anything related to the US government or culture should be ignored. He has proven he doesn’t know a ****ing thing about either.
His posting in the UK thread has been just as wildly inaccurate. No truth is so obvious that it cannot be bent in half in the service of fascism.
