The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet...i'd be shocked if they lost the election now.
Just shows just how incompetent Conservatives are.
this is gibberish and crypto won't be profitable in 30 years so it wouldn't still be in crypto. The money made from it would long be in standard accounts. collecting 80-90% of the interest the pensions do. The point is you take risks with money when your young sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. more disposable and investable income is quite good for the economy but its not about that. I've never heard anyone say they plan on retiring just by collecting their CPP benefits, companies and businesses also don't tell employees that you don't need a retirement package because you have CPP. Banks and retirement plans would just offer another product if CPP went away, at least with private plans you have beneficiaries and your family will still receive the contributions you made.
I do. Great grand kids, golfing, etc. Look at what President Trump has accomplished since at 70+, the man still wins regular club championships
I think it's pretty silly if O'Leary believes the feedback he receives on whatever social media he's using gives him any special insight into what all, or the majority of, Canadians want. And I have pretty strong doubts that O'Leary going to see Trump about this is going to be helpful.
Why is that "silly". What better option would you want him to use? Well Trump shared the video clip on his social media, what are your strong doubts?
Definitely not forgotten:
But...
This.
I agree with the overall sentiment, Goose, but the difference appears to be getting smaller. I think there are some philosophical differences that will still separate us for quite some time, but uke is right about the messaging, and the bigots have become more emboldened here in Canada in the last few years.
I’m not sure what you mean by bigots all I’ve seen in the last year is a ton of antisemitism.
Happy New Years everyone

Is Trudeau smart enough to get the point now ?
Even tho its been like obvious for the last 6 months to a year….
It’s like Joe Biden saying he could have beat Trump . Trudeau is a great campaigner and thinks he can beat Pierre .

If you think the collection of people who would respond to O'Leary on social media is representative of the population as a whole, I'm not sure what to tell you. But I'm very happy for him getting the share he was striving for. Donald likes him, he really likes him!! As for me, that doesn't move the needle on my doubts.

Sadly, we seem to have taken a few steps backwards when it comes to acceptance of the LGBTQ community, or those who had never moved forward are emboldened to share their bigotry publicly now.

Did something happen to LGB or the entirety of the "bigotry" you see is about the T (which has absolutely nothing to do with the LGB to begin with).
Q doesn't exist as it can't be objectively defined so let's leave that aside as well.

No quotes needed around bigotry, and yes, of course it's all of LGBTQ+. Sort of think you'd need to be living under a rock not to have noticed some of this on social media if not elsewhere, but I see it much more directly being involved in the school system, attending meetings with the public, etc.

I only saw a lot of attacks to the T , and mostly not bigoted attacks either rather attacks that are absolutely reasonable (no biological men in sports and so on) hence the inverted commas (as people here and elsewhere consider being against biological men in women sports, biological men in women prison and so on bigotry while i absolutely don't), nothing at all against lesbians and gays on anglo twitter.
Actually what i saw is a growing number of lesbian and gay organizations (mostly lesbian) going against T
What exactly did you see against lesbians and gays?
Anti-SOGI protests have been the most public display here, and that's emboldened people to take all sorts of anti-Pride and book banning measures which we've seen both in Canada and the US.

Which LGB books have been banned in Canada or the USA? Or by "banning" you mean kept out of public schools/minors hand which isn't banning?
Banning means making it illegal to sell that book.
And what has bigotry to do with deciding at which age to teach minors about sexual related stuff?
So I guess I was correct and you didn't see any attack to LGB but you espouse the narrative according to which banning teachers from telling 7y old how to anally masturbate is "bigotry"
I'm not going to compile a list for you, you're welcome do some of your own research on this.
Yes, it is. Banning a teacher from using a given book is...banning.
Yes, that's also banning.
But what we call it isn't relevant to my point.
And what has bigotry to do with deciding at which age to teach minors about sexual related stuff?
Who said anything about "deciding at which age to teach minors about sexual related stuff"? A parent or other community member deciding that because they don't want their children to see a given book in the school library, that other children shouldn't be able to see it either, isn't "deciding at which age to teach minors about sexual related stuff". It's imposing their own morality on others. And sometimes, believe it or not, that is rooted in bigotry.

Maybe you should spend less time trying to find things to back up your preconceived (and incorrect) notions (and throwing in bizarre assumptions about some "narrative" I'm espousing), and more time reading and comprehending. I notice you skipped right on by anti-Pride measures - kind of hard to justify those as never being about bigotry.
Canada had the creepiest group of people running their country that I have ever seen. I'm guessing most Canadians agree with this based on the poles.

It’s not gibberish .
To have your entire wealth into crypto is insane anyway …
Fwiw how would you manage people entering and exiting cpp?
U could opt out of it at 18 ? 35 ? Could you opt back in ?
You would need lot of people to manage tens of millions of people opting in and out non stop ?
Sound it would be a mess .
That seems like a very weird thing to focus on of all this stupidity. It wouldn't even be the 100th most complicated thing the government does.. 21% of people work for the government im sure a few of them could make an easy system. You would do it through your employer anyway and they would do a lot of the work. I'm sure they would make it annoying to do so less people would do it and you get the best of both worlds but we have been to the moon homie do you really think its that hard to tick a box yes or no?
no one here even suggested putting someone's entire net worth into crypto that was all in your head

Teachers should never have the decision on what books a child reads that is the school boards responsibility. This is especially true in the K-6 levels. I can understand why a parent would not want books(LGQBT+) that you could not read on TV nor would some parents want their child read the bible .
I mean we were having a totally banal conversation about how Canada's fully funded for 75 year pension system is an important plank in our larger fiscal picture, and you got all weird with this libertarian bent that the gubmint shouldn't tell you what to do with your money BS, so I don't think you should be calling other people out for weird things to focus on.
I'd suggest a walk in the snow.

Can you similarly "understand" how a bunch of right wing anti-LGBT people are doing a concerted effort in both Canada and the US to make it practically impossible for teachers to ever mention anything at all to do with LGBT people in the classroom and how ****ing sick and bigoted and wrong that is?

Yes I can see a small majority of folks that can do that but I can also see the extreme on the other side for example two states in the USA passing a law that allows children to get gender affirming care without the parents approval and p[lacing books in the classroom that could not be read on TV as they are so over the top .
I just pointed out teachers should never make that decision at the k-6 level. If a child has a sexuality question the teacher should notify the parents and let them handle it . As well from 7-12 its still the schoolboard that decides what books are read to the children

It is not bigoted to avoid discussing homosexuality to prepuberal children, because there is no way to discuss homosexuality without understanding sex and it's not bigoted to think that sexual education should start after puberty.
Being against discussing sexual attraction with 7y old isn't bigotry.
It's incredible we are even having this conversation

All you talk about - usually quite poorly and quite ignorantly - is the "other side" where you imagine all sorts of insanity while absolutely downplaying at every opportunity the "small majority", as you put it, who are actively trying to silence discussion of LGBT people in classrooms. I hate bothsidesism in general, but the overreach here is OVERWHELMINGLY on the side that is trying to ban teachers from reading a book that even has an LGBT character in it, or making it is burdensome that this is the effect, just an utterly appalling silencing of political nemeses. And your endless apologizing for that side and trying to reframe it any other way than what it is is just entrenching them.
At the end of the day struggling LGBT kids are the ones who suffer. It's tragic.

Anyway .
I’m very impress by what you achieve to be able to extract 800$ inflation edge
(which obviously should be way more because cpp should be a small part of your entire income )
per month without any problems for the next 20-40 years .
Props to you .

Around 14M Canadian X accounts, probably more people that don't create accounts. What better method would you suggest, a cbc poll?

You asked this earlier and this is an issue that clearly puts you on the left .
Like Shifty said k-6 are struggling with their LGQBT issues. Please no child at that age knows if they are LGQBT
