It seems like there's a lot of conflict and unhappiness in the world these days. It gets me down. One of the few things
After a long run on Saturday I grilled up some beef and veggies... he threw a fit because it took so long for the grill to heat up. It should be easy to train a dog that likes food so much, but nope... he's a little ****.
I had to get a loveseat so he could sit with me while I work. The definition of a velcro dog.
He does have a thing with deer poop. Only deer poop.
LOL
They are generally not champs at delaying gratification for very long periods.
There is an area at the far edge of my back yard where deer sometimes bed down. They also poop nearby, so I can't walk my pica pup back there. That's where I walk my other dog to poop as he won't eat the deer poop and that keeps his poop out of the other dog's gullet as well.
all these great-looking dogs! And lizards lol
Winston (darker) stole a whole loaf of bread off the kitchen counter yesterday. It was defrosting to replace the half loaf he nicked off my dining table the day before.
Carbs do make you sleepy. Perhaps he shared some with the other guy???
I guess I had a hitchhiker when I brought the plants in yesterday. New pet, but I don't think he'll coexist very well with the cats.
Cats? What about the dog? Mine would go nuts with a fella like that!
My daughter works in animal rescue and she's currently fostering these adorable lil babies who were rejected by their mom. They are six days old, napping in her home incubator.
Cute. Good luck to them! Good on your daughter!!!

autumn mushrooms in the pnw are as ubiquitous as summer skeeters around the great lakes
our current challenge is keeping the pup away from eating any random fungi that invades the yard
'Wire hair' canines are awesome.
Not a chance. Hunter might have snagged a single slice.
And if they were any more sleepy, they would be dead.
Winston is old and half cancer ridden on chemo, so he escapes punishment
Dang! Sorry to hear that. Seems like Winston has had enough punishment. Best wishes for him and the rest of y'all.
♥
How is chemo going? I decided not to go that route with my last dog because the life expectancy wasn't great. I always wonder if I made the right decision.
Winston has been on chemo for about 18 months now. We don't test or do any surgeries, he's just on for the duration. We can feel an occasional lump here or there, so it's still going. He's half as strong and mostly sleeps or lays down, but doesn't seem in pain. Fairly normal life for an older dog.
Still plenty of appetite and I try to feed him nutritious stuff while my brother does the normal food. He loves chicken livers. $2 bucks a pound at the grocery, and easy to cook. Nutritious as all get out. I would recommend for any dog or cat.

extending our memories with them near the end can be so difficult yet so rewarding at the same time
Winston is lucky to have you.
I feed my dogs (and myself) boiled chicken livers. Delicious, and they are $2/lb here, too. Such a steal. Don't feed too much, though, and as always, start off slowly.

Winston liked them raw also, but the gas afterward was horrendous. Still gets a little piquant with them cooked. I usually bake them on a foil lined tray. No cleanup.
And I'm lucky to have him. He's a good listener, if not minder. Very sensitive and expressive.

My last dog was on prednisone for the last 3 months. Life expectancy was 6-12 months with chemo. He had a very good, active 3 months and I was fine with that, but I will always second guess myself about that decision.
Good luck with him.
Taking care of our sick animals is hard...but a privilege. Good luck!
