Trump 2nd term prediction thread
So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.
Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.
A bit of an anemic OP, I know, just interested to hear people's thoughts now that the election uncertainty is over.

I think you are better than this and you as most people on this forum understand the threat the human resources Karens are to the well being of everyone else in society, especially after DEI departments got created, and all the healthy of mind people are at war with that and the republicans represent that among other things.
I do not believe for a second you think hiring minorities and women over whites and men because of their sex or ethnicity is proper, moral, or beneficial for society, and the democratic party has explicitly endorsed that (which is unconstitutional and a disastrous violation of the civil right act) for years now.

Trump is devoid of character, and he lies all the time, but I wouldn't necessarily agree with the bolded. If Trump campaigns on a promise that he will pursue some terrible policy, he is very like to follow through on pursuing that terrible policy. The bigger mistake in that scenario is believing that the promise to pursue the terrible policy is empty campaign talk.
trump is a much better known quantity this time around.
we now know what he actually wants to try to accomplish and what's empty talk.
for example we know he doesn't give a **** about abortion and never did.
we know he strongly, innately prefer low rates to high rates no matter the macro conditions.
we know he is actually really a nativist and will pursue policies that devastate immigrants non citizens quality of life (including legal immigrants) but increase natives (including minorities) quality of life.
we know he talks big and acts small in the international stage

As a white guy--sorry I'm not going to get on board with the 'white guys are the gold standard' thinking. There's always been tons of dead wood filling slots who had nothing to bring to the table besides connections and all of the other usual bs. Plenty of things went wrong when we were blocking everyone else out. Politicians got shot. Planes crashed and fires raged etcetc.
The only reason the dei thing exists is because we systematically blocked those groups of people out for so long. If you want to place blame going forward direct it at the group of people who actually deserve it--the ones who did the blocking because that's what's created the problems. We could've entirely avoided these problems had our ancestors not been complete ******* morons that dumped it on to all of us to figure out--simply by being fair, just and decent.

DEI didn't exist 20 years ago, it's a completely fabricated illegal set of practices invented by radical leftist academia and then embraced and made mainstream by the democratic party.

Discrimination based on sex or race is illegal in the USA. full stop, no nuance.

Which is why things like desegregation, the civil rights act, affirmative action, dei etc exist. Because we were systematically blocking segments of our society from participating for so long. Every single time I see some conservative complaining about dei at some company--I go look at their management if it's easily available to find. So far every time it ends up looking like something along these lines 20 white guys, 1 woman and 1 brown guy. Show me one major company where it isn't--just 1.

Again, this was blazingly obvious ten years ago. He never claimed to care about preserving access to abortion to woman. And his motivations for appointing conservative justices didn't have much to do with a personal desire to limit access to abortion. He was happy enough to hand the issue of judicial appointments off the standard party apparatus.

The equal protection clause is binary. You cannot treat anyone for any reason in different ways.
What's not binary is what to do with the private sector, but for the public (government) at all levels it's absolutely crystal clear that any and all forms of discrimination based on actually anything are completly unconstitutional.
