Lol if you listened to the interview the reported already tried to talk about trans people. In my reply I mentioned trans people. Do you deny trans people exist? If not trans, what about non-binary? If not non-binary, what about two-spirit?
The one part I liked, but also concerns me, was: "We should just have a government that minds its own damn business and leaves people alone to make their own personal decisions. Trump was the one who did the executive order declaring two genders, which has a lot of spillover consequences downwind such as the passport issue that was raised, so it isn't "liberal media wasting time" on it, it was right wing anti-trans agitators in power spending time on it. This sense that noone is ever allowed to talk about what the right wing politicians in power (or likely to be in power) will do on this issue is ridiculous.
It's also sad that if anyone in the media ever talks about anything at all like trans people existing then oh wow they are the "Liberal media". Phil Perkins? That's your liberal media guy? Really? But of course it is just reflexive name calling.

Absolutely. The potential good thing I could take from it is that they don't intend to get involved where they shouldn't, IE try to meddle in health or education with the culture war nonsense, but I worry it could also mean the opposite.
It reminds me a bit of the whole "we're colour blind" thing in the US to justify removing protrections.

Seem to me she was great minister to him until the end by defending many things she didn’t agree with .

Allowing trans and non-binary people to choose X is a totally reasonable, minor, kind, respectful accommodation to make. So sad that your leader can't even pretend to have a serious conversation and just does this sad "tell me another gender gimmick" as if he doesn't know very well that people are using this option right now. It is of course any individual person's choice, if they are going to travel to a country where they wouldn't feel comfortable doing that then that is their choice to make - not yours and certainly not ****ing poilievre's.

When you apply for a passport there is a robust security screening process. Or should be. If that process can’t figure out that some people are non-binary or trans and would like not to be referred to as male or female then the problem isn’t the trans people, the problem is an inept security apparatus.
We can be secure and respectful at the same time.

The passport office does not figure out if your non-binary or trans it gives you three choices on the application Male, Female or Other it will also state the name you go by. The border services agent will always go by the name on the passport. They have no reason to use your pro nouns .

That’s right - it is a choice for the individuals. That’s a good thing. It’s a small issue in the grand scheme of things, but a good example where the government can do something easy and small to be respectful to people who don’t feel comfortable declaring themselves to be male or female. It’s sad that Trump/Poilievre don’t recognize that. I actually prefer Trumps blunt honesty in some ways over Poilievre’s faux questioning like he’s never heard of this issue before.
Ok here is something that will shock you. I personally thought Trump would be better for Canada mainly Alberta than Biden if he brought back Keystone. Though that does not seem likely as Biden made sure that is near impossible in a single term. So if Trump brings in the tariffs I will be wrong thinking Trump is better for Canada
Now saying that Canada and I mean Trudeau created their own mess. Another issue is were outraged by tariffs yet we do so much to limit trade between provinces with tariffs and blocking items between provinces. Our first step is to fix our own house and remove all tariffs and restrictions on provincial trade.
Now look at the mess we created ourselves. Yes Trudeau built a pipeline that was massively over budget and could have been built by the private sector if there were not so many roadblocks. But he has not been a friend of the resource sector
- Delayed or blocked a 100 billion $ worth of LNG projects in BC
- Blocked or impeded 30 billion in oilsands projects in Alberta
- Blocked the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline
- Blocked the Energy East Pipeline
- Blocked the Northern Gateway Pipeline
- Failed to approve the Tech Project in Sask even thought went through all the environmental requirements

Canada is a resource based economy in many ways with 20% of government revenues coming from resources and over a million jobs. The problem is we have one major and only client the USA . I did mention in my post that Trudeau completed the Trans Mountain Pipeline. The second pipeline added the ability to export to non USA markets an additional 600,000 barrels a day . It still remains though that of all the oil the USA imports 70% is from Canada . Imagine an Energy East pipeline that would allow us to refine that oil as well .
Yes projects get cancelled or delayed but a prime example of why is the Tek Project that went through all the environmental and consultation with Indigenous groups and had met all the requirement and Justin failed to give it the green light and took forever to make the decision. This is what causes companies to take their investment $$ elsewhere
