NCAA Basketball Thread 2024-2025
Quick OP here just to get us up and running
Things to watch for this year:
1. Can UConn 3-peat? Hurley won back to back
Insert meme of Arkansas, Kentucky, and Louisville debating on who has the best coach, with Rick Pitino standing above all of them. Can't help but wonder what he would have done if he turned down the Celtics job.
Since Drake's doing pretty well, it occurred to me to look at first-round sites, just in case.
One's in Denver. One time!
I mean, it's being overly presumptuous to think they're in, but first in the Valley so far.
Never a doubt. Florida now the only team in history to beat two #1 teams in the same season.
Spoiler
don't fact check me, bro

I was curious. Looks like the last time that happened was...
2 seasons ago with Alabama. Funny enough they also lost twice as #1 that season. Then Arkansas that season before that. Not seeing anything before that until 98 when UNC beat Duke twice.
it looked like a couple of Clempson's fans got a couple of cheap shots off against dook's bench after the whistle
Clemson now w 5 straights wins over AP top 5 ranked teams
We took down Goliath in football and now we just took down Goliath in basketball. WE OWN THIS ****ING LEAGUE!!!
Didn't cover though
Was wondering about seasons in which UK beat Tennessee three times in the modern era (in case they meet in SEC tourney). I figured the Pitino years was a good chance. Nope. They did it in 2005. Don't even know who was coaching then. Gillespie? Looked it up, still Tubby then.
Alabama is good. It basically came down to the fact that Auburn shot it better and didn't panic when AL made its big run.
There were a total of just 11 turnovers in this game between the two teams, which is incredible for a game with this many possessions.
Which is better turnaround from last year Louisville Cardinals or Detroit Pistons? How are they doing that?
not sure what surprised me more today:
- The Colorado Buffaloes actually won a conference game OR:
- Illinois didn't score in the last 8:30 of the 2nd half on their home court.
Wisconsin offense blows up in this second half @ purdue
UK is kind of moving toward the bubble if they don't righten ship. It looks like they'll be doing good to end with 11 losses. Lots of good wins so they'll probably have to collapse to miss out. If they lose 4 or last 6 then first round of SEC tourney, it would probably put them out. Anything less probably in.

#17 NET ranking
third toughest kenpom SOS
a 3 seed in the matrix
they should be fine
They would still get like a 6 seed
Pups lose, 61-59 to Bradley at home. Drake's 11-game winning streak over, now 23-3.
Did nothing down the stretch and missed FTs, bad combo. A disturbing trend from the few games I've been able to follow.
Still, 1st in the Valley with four to go.
