Diamond in a Day - CET Total Rewards
Is it still possible to get Diamond in a Day?
I have read about it in the past, just curious.
Reward Credits != Tier Credits.
Rewards credits are just comp dollars.
UPDATE. I contacted Caesers Rewards by phone and they updated my Rewards card to reflect Diamond status rather than Gold. The rep said that their system would have updated the card automatically given enough time. Apparently, a lot of people had been calling in with the same issue.
I earned diamond tier status playing video roulette on the video poker machine next to Horseshoe bar in Vegas. After testing it out with $1 and $2 bets, I eventually put a $5 bet on 36 of the 38 squares or $180 per push. $180 push is equivalent to 18 tier credits. I ran $11,000 of coin through the machine in about 30 minutes. Statistically, I should have lost appx. 5.26% (2/ 38 = .0526) or $572. In reality, I lost less than $300 on 11,000 coin in (I already had 5,000 tier credits from credit card and other play).
Based on that play and the new diamond status, I now have Diamond for the rest of 2025 and all of 2026, pick up two $100 celebration dinners, no resort fees, no parking fees and get bumped to the head of the line at WSOP. I also received a text from a host thanking me for my play and comping both my room and my room charges which totaled over $600. Unexpectedly, in checking room rates during summer WSOP time, all of the dates reflect "comp" rate. In other words, there will be no room charges at all for 2025 WSOP. All in all, it worked out very well!
That's awesome.
You can only book like 4 comp rooms in 14 days pretty sure
I’m not 100% sure if it’s the same for all customers, but if it is, then it’s a max of 7 comped nights per reservation. So, for example, let’s say the calendar showed an entire month is comped. Then you could stay for the whole month and only use 7 comps. But, what you can do is use 7 comps, then pay standard rates (including resort fees) for 2 nights to “reset” your available comps. In this way, you could theoretically stay for like 25 contiguous nights and use 21 comps. Of course paying standard rates plus resort fees can be pretty pricey. So in order to get the cheapest price for any lengthy stay, you really have to mess around with which comps you accept and which ones you don’t.
Everyone gets different rates offered on different nights, so there is no hard and fast rules. But I have found in recent years, that more and more, CET likes to make comps available only on dates which are already pretty cheap. For example, they’ll make a comp available on a night which only costs $10-$20 otherwise, based on your rating. This makes the comps less valuable, which is in line with their apparent general mission of making their product less appealing.

Fantastic! I need to look into video roulette. Was that during a multiplier period?
BTW, avoid any CET casinos until AFTER you book your room(s). They're basing your comps on you giving them the same amount of action. If you walk into a CET place and gamble any less, your comped rooms may disappear.

Yes, it was during their 10x multiplier period. Thanks for the heads up on action needed to maintain comped rooms. If I book a comped room in early June and then another comped room 1 week later, do you think there is a possibility that they will rescind the comp for the second reservation if I do not gamble at the same level?

No, if you have a confirmed reservation they quote a TOTAL price which includes all fees and taxes. They should have sent you a confirmation. With that in hand it doesn't matter if you didn't gamble a penny the first trip they will honor their pricing. Legally they don't have a choice. Now what will happen to you on a THIRD trip you book later might be an entirely different matter.

Akashenk is dead on in my experience this year. You can get 7 nights comped during say a 12 day stay but they tend to be Sunday - Thursday
You need to stay non CET for 48 hours and then the 7 day comp for a new reservations potentially becomes available again. Comp night vary greatly as to availability - I can't get the comped room deals I booked in November now for example.

Technically, you don’t have to change hotels to non CET in order to reset the comps, in my experience. You just need a 48-hour reservation which doesn’t use your rewards account. You have to use either the standard rate (ie the rate available to the general public), or some other discount, like the coupon codes available for the WSOP. Either way, since you are not using your diamond status for that 48-hour reservation, you have to pay the resort fee.
The trick in minimizing the cost is to find 2 consecutive days where the difference between the standard/coupon rate and your reward account “best” rate is smallest, and then use those days to reset your comps. Those days tend to be weekends. Of course, if you are rated at MGM or some other property and you are able to get two nights comped there to reset your CET comps, then it might make sense to do that even with the hassle of changing hotels.
I can tell you this practice can save a little money, but it does require research and a fair bit of work. And, like I said, it is becoming less and less effective as comps have become less and less valuable. I remember last year, I had tons of comped days available in July as the WSOP wound down. But when I looked at my “best” rate on the comped days, they were all $10. So it’s like, thank you for comping those nights CET. Your generosity is overwhelming.

Yes, you have to work at it to minimize the hotel overhead without a doubt.
Personally I pulled off
The Cromwell 10 nights 7 comped
RIO 4 Nights 4 comped
Horseshoe 12 nights 7 comped and 2 reduced rate nights.
My Hotel game will probably come to an end this year unless I can earn or regain my Diamond status unfortunately. The best way I see to earn it will be to time my all my WSOP Tournaments buy ins with a 10X day for my play and sneak in the back door with the earn 5,000 credits in a day and get 10,000 free.
5,000 Tier Credits

Anyone worked out how many tier credits you get for WSOP live buy-ins?

Isn’t that reward credits? It says you do get tier credits as well but doesn’t state how many.
Someone affiliated with the WSOP once told me it correlated to some extent with the rake amount for live WSOP events, although not precisely (As in it typically came out to be something close to 1 tier credit awarded for every 1 dollar in rake).
It always seemed to me that it usually came out to something a bit less than 1 tier credit per $1 in live tournament rake, but that's just a guess, and I have never been able to verify how they determine it exactly.

As I understand your strategy you breakeven on every roll but the two you lose $180 on. So your actual losses will always be in multiples of $180. So less than $300 loss equals $180 loss. Am I understanding correctly?
If one is not going to be playing much then I would say variance is as big of a consideration if not a bigger consideration than actual EV.
If you are not going to be playing very much, then why are you trying to get Diamond?
If it is just for the purpose of playing in the WSOP, then that might be totally reasonable; it can be a major benefit there, and it is the primary reason why I maintain Diamond status myself.
However, it also strikes me that however big the variance is at video poker, it is -much- smaller than the variance involved in large-field tournament poker. If you are not willing to risk a few hundred dollars at VP (when that risk is sensible in terms of EV), why are you willing to risk many thousands of dollars playing at the WSOP?

Based on my play in the past, I also believe you get around 1 TC for every dollar in rake paid on a WSOP tournament. But it's always surprised me that after so many years, this had never be publicized or precisely calculated anywhere.

In my case, i lost $288 total, which was one loss at $1 on each of 36 squares, one loss at $2 on each of 36 squares and one loss of $5 on each of 36 squares. But yes, if I had bet $5 only on each of 36 squares, my loss would have been in multiples of $180. I was testing the waters using smaller bets before I ramped it up to $5 per square.

How fast can you make 36 bets? Seems like it would take me a long time.

You just need a separate reservation. You can still use your account and not pay resort fees. You will have to call up to book the room bc the online system won't let you book it.
