I had another idea for the squares. Think it needs some polish.
It occurred to me that the First Four games are considered part of the tournament. So, they should get paid too (see: more degeneracy), I was thinking something like, take $1 away from each of the first-round games, and split that amount between the four games in Dayton. Maybe the take-away amount gets adjusted upward for the bigger pools.

I considered tinkering with the payouts to do this, but I decided against it. I may try to incorporate the play-in games next year, but don't want to make any changes after everything has been announced and people are signing up/submitting escrows.
Edit: I did a quick mock-up of what it might look like to incorporate the play-in games for NEXT YEAR. Nothing will change for 2025. However, if anyone would like to see the mock-up and give input, I can DM it to you. Please let me know. Otherwise I will post about it after this year's tourney has concluded.
