Angry Man Shoves Aria Poker Room Employee as Fight Breaks Out
Pretty weak response by security. One single blue coat.
The article calls it a headlock but really other patron drug him across room in a chokehold. Honestly would not surprise me if he was asked to leave also. Know he was trying to help but laying hands on anyone in a casino is a no no. In this case is was a little overkill and certainly did not de escalate the situation

Aria must provide the name of the angry man to Casino Control Board and other casinos. The angry man must be banned from entering any casinos.
This kind of behavior can not be tolerated!
I’m staying in Vegas for a few months; off The Strip in an Airbnb in a safe location. I play mid-high stakes. And I play a lot.
It looks like there’s a long waitlist to get a safe deposit box at the Aria and other big poker rooms.
I tried a front money account (player’s bank). But it’s a 15-minute process every time I deposit or withdraw.
The cashiers talk to supervisors. They look at me like I’m a criminal. They don’t even check my ID when I withdraw.
I prefer not to come and go to the casino with 5-10k cash/chips every day (sometimes more after a big win). I really don’t want to get robbed.
What are my other options?
Stay at the Aria or hire armed security when you win
If it's within the rules, and not some sort of angle, then yes, it is ALWAYS acceptable. If the player is in a specific game, say 5, 10 NLH, and now you and some others want to change the game to 5, 10 with a 20 straddle, the player who doesn't want to do this is not a bad guy for saying no. But you are certainly a dick for bullying them about their decision. If you and the
This (moronic) mindset of the poster was common from some people there.
I actually think that they should ban the straddle at this venue. It's banned at other poker rooms around the U.S.
There is already a straddle in the 5 5 10 game - it's called the rock. If people were being rational about it and they didn't have bullying, going on for people that didn't want to straddle it would probably be alright. But that's not the case from what I saw.
Just because it's within the rules doesn't always mean it's acceptable. There are 1-2, 1-3, and 2-5 tables where nits can buy in for the minimum, be on their tablets and not be social, and not straddle with the other seven players at the table. If you choose to be that guy in a bigger game, I might make fun of you a little bit. But the big whales—the ones you want to keep happy
This (toxic, moronic) thought process was pretty common amazingly at the poker room, or at least the behavior that the poster describes.
I can only assume that this is a scam to pressure people to double the stake of the game by a large number of pros at the venue, mostly European from what I saw.
This has to be embarrassing for the floor people there when they sit a guy and tell him it's a 5/5 game and then some low life starts bullying him because he won't straddle.
I make more money with the straddle going on, but I actually think at least a temporary ban, and possibly a permanent straddle ban would have a lot of upsides.

Unfortunately, the floor people usually catch the reaction and not the action that the OP is describing.
Has anyone actually bullied one of the bullies at this venue?

Just color up your chips and put them somewhere that a criminal wouldn't check if you were walking outside, so if you get robbed just give them your wallet / phone.
Are you worried about getting robbed in your Air BB or walking to and from?
As long as your close to the strip if you're talking about very close, then most of those areas should be well lit and relatively safe. But I can't be sure cause I don't know exactly what air bb is located.
If you're still concerned, just don't go out late at night / or take Uber. The cash deposit thing was a hassle there and didn't want to bother with it.

I'm worried about establishing a pattern of playing several days a week, and coming and going with a lot of cash or chips. Then one day I come home (my Airbnb is in Anthem) and someone's waiting for me in my driveway with a gun to rob me. (But I'm being told by others that 5-10k isn't enough for anyone to care.)
Yeah, I don't understand why it's such a hassle with the cashiers to deposit/withdraw chips into your player's account. But if you want to buy or cash out a large amount of chips, they don't bat an eye.
Why are they looking at you like you're a criminal? At a room like the Aria, 15 minutes doesn't go.by without somebody cashing out 5-10k

Everybody has money there at that place. So, you're not going to be standing out that much, right?
The other thing is that for the pattern to be established, they would need to follow you from the strip to anthem.
I'm not sure if you're worried about the money or your safety more. Since you're winning (not sure if you ever lose 5 or 10K) regularly, the money wouldn't be anything you can't recover from if you got robbed, and the chances of getting robbed on the strip or getting an uber to Anthem in Henderson seems really remote as far as I can tell. Anthem seems like a pretty good area from what I know of it. I used to play tennis out there. (Unless the open border situation has changed anything) from the last President of the U.S.
I don't think "anthem" area or the strip are dangerous areas as far as I know.

It just seems like they strongly discourage the use of the player's bank / front money account. It doesn't sound like a lot of players use it. I did see one other player withdrawing money from his player's bank. They were giving him a little bit of a hard time as well.

Pretty simple, just travel with $6-8k and deposit in your player bank if you end up with more than that. If you have your own car make sure you're not being followed, take different routes home, etc...
The chance something happens is below 1% and probably by quite a lot if someone sees you cash out big and doing a player bank transaction that takes 15-20 mins where you clearly walk away with no $$

Other option is not to play. Be smart but don't go through life scared. Plenty of people come to and leave casinos with 5-10k in cash/chips on them in Vegas .

When I was younger, I used to carry 5-10k on me everywhere because I DGAF.
But one guy I played regularly with got robbed at gunpoint for 10k stopping at a gas station on his way home. Another got robbed at gunpoint for 10k in his driveway. And another got robbed at gunpoint for 100k in his driveway.
It just seems like this happens a lot to higher stakes poker players. I can’t imagine playing in a big game with 10k+ buy-ins and 25k+ cashouts regularly without a safe deposit box (or a player’s bank—cashiers in LA poker rooms were far less anal about player’s bank deposits/withdrawals).
I agree that they should have a player's bank setup at Aria poker room for safety and customer service reasons.
The cashier at the player's bank sections was being really anal about it when I was applying. So much so that I didn't complete the process.
If I contrast that with the Wynn in Macau, it was totally standard.

Where were they robbed at?
Those guys robbing poker players must think you're an easy targets.
I'm not sure if you're allowed to have a gun in your car or not if you park at a casino or valet park it.
I'm usually walking around the strip with 10 to 20K in poker chips carrying a backpack, luckily no issues yet.
It feels like a pretty secure area, I felt like that cause there are a lot of people around and it's well lighted. On the other hand, there have been some crazy stuff that happens on the strip from time to time, but not enough frequency to make me super concerned about it yet.
When I was in D.C. area i wasn't gonna walk anywhere out there. Super paranoid around that area.
If you're at aria and you take an uber to a gated condo, I feel like your minimizing your risk of getting robbed and even more importantly, assaulted or shot.
Let's say you don't have the chips on you but they follow you and you don't give them any money. That could actually get you in even more trouble if they didn't believe your story.

I might just buy a gun and keep it in my car. Actually love this idea if Aria doesn't make it easy for you to play in bigger games safely.
Or if Wynn is less anal with players' banks, might be better to play there instead.
Color up to 5k or greater chips which can be traced and deter criminals from targeting you.
Is the $5/$5/$10 game plo good? I'm planning on playing the $1/$2/$5 game next year and just wondering how the next stake is? Basically if my mindset should be geared or start gearing to move up if the game is good? I have some experience in that $1/$2/$5 game and I'm not wondering if the skill level is the same but rather does it play comparably? Meaning the trends at that game or game style is similar? I remember it being a pretty straight forward game IF you keep your vpip low. (Meaning people don't "mix" it up) That often as compared to some east coast Venus where players will "let lose" more often. Thanks.

It's a 5 5 10 20 game with a 400 to 2 K buy-in. the 20 straddle runs 95% of the time.
It's good, IMO
