LMAO that’s terrible pricing. 130/night and you still have to pay for Ubers? Gross.

yeah I just know someone who bought 4 nights at a strip property for 400 and it included a Friday and Saturday night .

case and point you could get aroom at excal or luxor in 2018 for after everything, 45-60 per night on weekday in summer

now its way above that.

i wil say that last summer i did see rio for 5 nights for like 650$ or so which, even if its rio, still a banger price

on the MGM app I'm seeing plenty of Excal nights for $64 (19+45 rf). MGM Grand has several stretches of days for $88 (38+50 rf).

you need some connections In Las Vegas.. if you think that's a deal for 5 nights at the Rio .

that was with flight+ 5 nights together. the total was like 650-700$ which seems great no? bundled together

I just got an email today offering 4 nights of comped rooms at the rio, and I haven't been there for years.
I think a few months ago they were offering 5.

This kind of offer would have gotten me to make a trip there when the stays would be free except a few dollars in taxes. Now with $50/night resort fee (and tax on that fee), it's nowhere near free.

When I was at the wynn poker room a long time ago they had a sports betting window you could go to in the room instead of walking to the sportsbook, do they still have that and do any of the other rooms in town have that now?

still think 50 per night is better than evebn luxor and excel ( which have historically been the cheapest on strip no?

if you guys had to pick between oyo or rio, which would you choose?

I don't know anything about Oyo, is it new? Where is it?

OYO is the old Hooters Hotel across the street from the MGM. it's one of the worst casino hotels in town. Nasty reviews about the room conditions.

I saw a red headed Wood Pecker outside my house the other day... I didnt know we had wood peckers in Las Vegas.

depends on what you are doing ,

rio has better rooms (not saying much), but oyo is a 7 minute walk to the mgm grand poker room and a 10 minute walk to the strip.

you are barely leaving rio by that time and then you are on flamingo and valley view..

if you dont have a car ,oyo and ainec imo

I’d rather stay at a habitable place downtown and Uber to/from strip than ever stay at OYO again - Luxor/Excalibur can’t possibly be that much more a night than OYO and they’re both totally fine

I agree. The location of OYO is fine (just a short walk over to MGM Grand), but the rooms are shitty, the elevator looks like it's about to fall apart, and everything looks dirty and in desperate need of a makeover (or a fire burning everything down).

thre is a reason OYO is one of if not THEE consistently cheapest option

What’s going on with south point casino for poker? Few years ago during weekends they’d soemtimes have 5 tables running. Now they usually have 13-16 tables running consistently on the weekend

There seems to been a huge shift in population changes there compared to what I kept seeing on bravo back then and now. Seems last last two years they realy picked up steam. Any reason why?

From what I have read online, South Point has a great reputation as one of the few casinos left in Vegas whose sole focus isn't to rip off customers with outrageous prices and poor odds for gamblers.

So they are probably quite popular with locals at least, and that also shows at the cash game tables I assume. In my limited experience playing there, games are usually quite nitty. But their daily tournaments are fun, and always get a ton of players.

one of the best run rooms in all of Vegas... I would say second only to The Wynn.

the room is PACKED on a daily basis from very early in the morning to maybe 1-2am. Sure, a majority of the players are Locals (but not completely local regs) and some games are not high level poker, but I enjoy going there... specially since I live very close.

3 to 6 games of 1/2-300... 2 to 6 games of 2/3-600... 1 to 3 games of 3/5-1500... and all the limit games on a daily basis and a lively 'daily tournament' schedule.

weekends can see a 5/10-uncapped from time to time... invite only, but someone could get in if they arent an arsehole.

they are running a 100k guarantee tournament next month $300bi.

and then there is this gem... All Beef Vienna cart

Call it two bucks with a little toke. Partake frequently.

i will maybe check it out if its not too far from strip!!

When I was there a few weeks ago every table was going.
they have gone heavy on promotions. room is full of nit hunters

I think it began when GVR closed its poker room back in 2020, and a good chunk of their locals shifted their play to South Point instead.

Confirmed delicious

where did you get Pepper?

only partially... GVR AND the M were dying the slow death for a long time prior to their closing, all the while SP was trending up.

I dont think SP has more than their share of the players 'Nit Festing' because the promos are cool and all, but they aren't overwhelmingly +EV. The promo's are 'aight' for a small room... nothing to write home about.

I think the 'tight' play is more of a function of the player pool type. it skews older, and most are not that great so they play tighty righty. there are a few very accomplished players that play there, so pick your battles.
