Itβs a complete and total indictment of the education system. Simple math isnβt hard. But then again, Vegas is mostly built on the wallets of whales and morons.
The place is built on people not understanding math. I also think some people intentionally donβt want to get a basic understanding of the math as it takes away the thrill of gambling.

this is basically the same concept as poker rake. a significant percentage, likely a vast majority of people that play in Vegas do so recreationally. they hope to win, but they are not surprised to lose some and they still go for fun and the experience and everything else. if everything in Vegas was only for +EV then nobody would play slot machines.
you can sit and play blackjack for fun for 2 hours and hit less than 2 blackjacks. I've done it. you can also play 3:2 for one hour and go -10 units. done that.
so then 5:6 is better?
Was walking out of the Golden Nugget around midnight, and two working girls, drunk and unaware, blocked my path and almost ran into me. I gave them a "move" look and one of them said, "shut up, ugly" and I laughed and said in my best NJ voice, "**** you," and she said, "**** yo mama," so I said, "already did, that's why YOU'RE so ugly," and the other one laughed, but that got the first one angrier, and she drunkenly swatted at me and missed, so I said, "hey, how about a date - can you break a 20?"
And that's how I got chased out of the casino by a hooker.
Lol... that pretty good.
I probably would have just walked right THRU her... like a bull in a china shop, you dont need to wave a red cape to get me to charge.

For anyone who has stayed at Nomad, did you feel it was worth the premium over a regular Park MGM room? My most recent offer makes the difference between the two a lot closer, but then I watched a couple videos, and the Nomad rooms don't actually look better. They looked cramped. I get they are going for an upscale boutique look, but it looks outdated. Or at least thats how it's looked on a few of the YT videos I've watched. I would definitely use the pool, but not so sure a higher floor or exclusive elevator is that big of a deal, I've never had an issue with the regular Park elevators.
It’s not an exclusive elevator. Nomad is top 4 floors only and those floors share a bank of elevators with some Park MGM floors. I’ve always liked the Nomad, rooms, at least to me, don’t feel cramped. But they’re probably pretty similar to Park rooms.
Wait, I thought they were only doing that work to pay for tuition.
I feel so mislead.
Pic's or it didn't happen...
Is that the mgm grand?
WTF happened there??
That's around the end of March Madness tourney, so that may be skewing prices.
Might be better to price other off strip properties before staying at CC. South Point, Orleans, Gold Coast, Ellis Island, etc. are much better and since they are off strip hotels, customer service seems to be better. Only slightly better than CC would be the Strat. Either of which you should make sure your life insurance policy is paid up and hepatitis vaccine current. If y
Ellis Island is nice? I haven't been in any of their rooms, but their casino is a dump, and the outside of the building looks like any old cheap motel.
I have a low bar for rooms, Ellis Island is above it, CC is below it, especially the back lot 'manor' rooms. We played a bit last trip at Ellis and enjoyed ourselves, the BBQ restaurant was excellent.
I stayed at EI just before the first F1 race, while everything was still under construction. Perfectly fine room, wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Easy walk to the Shoe/center Strip. Wouldn't consider CC. MtBrother1 stayed there just before Covid, and it was a shithole then. I don't expect it has gotten any better since.
I am attending a conference April 6 through 9th. The conference is at Virgin Hotels but since I just decided to go its costing me $400.00 per night and that's a little step.
Suggestions on best hotel options given that will be there all day. I am going to stay a couple extra day to get in some poker tournaments as well but would move if needed.
there are dozens of nice hotel resorts in Vegas. poker is inside or at least nearby most of them. are you renting a car or walking to Virgin everyday?
I found the walk from PHo -> Virgin extremely easy and mostly safe and well lighted. PHo to most of the strip poker rooms (Aria, Bell, 'Shoe, MGM) is also pretty easy. Only
Venetian/Wynn/Resorts World would be a long hike. I stayed at PHo a couple of years ago (post 'Vid) because it was quite a bit cheaper than Virgin.
Golden Nugget just made a big mistake. They switched back to 9-handed. They were at 8-handed the last few years.
Horrible decision. 8-handed poker is so much more enjoyable and comfortable.
^100% agree... 8 handed rules.
I've always been happy to be shorter handed, but in many places when it gets down to 7 people start getting nervous and the game breaks quickly after that.
