There is a lot of this going around lately. Fascists and Nazis hoping for the race war, communists gunning for the breakdown of market-based democracies, tech-bros who wants to bring the state down so they can replace borders with blockchain, state actors who want international order to collapse so they can reign, and voluntarists who wants the state to fail so they can live shackle-free.

Fundamentally, I think these groups do a very basic error. They read the tales of existing nations, look at their historical disasters and see a pattern of phoenixes rising from the ashes. What they fail to realize is the survivor bias inherent in reading history this way. It would be wiser to read a history of collapsing nations and study outcomes. Though this is a lot less comforting for your self-esteem, because it is much more difficult to see yourself as a savior in those scenarios.

Some, of course, just want to see it all burn. I suspect the vast majority of those have very little experience with what a failed state looks up close.

More often, you see corrupt states replaced by repressive states, repressive states replaced by gangster states, or some other "bad for bad" swap. Not every time, but a lot of the time.

Some anarchist think along the lines of building a new world from inside the existing society/state. Constructing alternatives without any sudden collapse.

Personally, I think far too many people love the boot smashing people's faces forever to do anything more than try to stay out of its way.

You don't build the checks and balances and bills of rights into your still restrictive and far too powerful states out of fear of Trump. You do it because there are millions of mongidigs and lucioms salivating over police smashing undesirables.

Maybe, but I don't think discounted healthcare prices, and taxing the rich for more disposable income while removing the law physics of price/demand to miraculously allow everything to still be cheap would make the majority of that particular group who advocate for those things satisfied with the new status quo if that were to actually happen.

I'd safely argue that people who actually endured years of deprivation and hardship would question a place like this before making radical changes when things could easily end up much worse. The last hoorah to come in started out nicely then posited the idea of murdering the weak might be a good solution because it might improve the weather that he didn't like.

I get that its about imagining a better world, and that improving the world seems realistic, but there is a large gap between the ideas of making working changes within the system and some of the suggestions that call for the complete removal of it.

If you wanted to posit any ideas, I'd appreciate it because I know you'd be arguing from a place that truly wanted people to live a better life - as opposed to just getting the opportunity to stick it to people that they hate.

The point of idea of building a better world from within the existing world is that it is not a violent action that involves any immediate complete removal of any system, but building alternatives that work or not only as they attract people.

Dunno what you are talking about the last hoorah being, but if you mean Maoist China or the USSR, neither of them were anarchist or called themselves anarchist. Better examples of that would be Rojava today which is still a functioning society and a more direct democracy than USA or The Spanish Revolution or Makhnovshchina in Ukraine in 1917-20, both of which were destroyed by the Bolsheviks (along with fascists and royalists). Or maybe Zomia or the Zapatistas.

Ultimately, political group projects are a deception and a procrastination.

For the conscious + internally aware individual, reality will always be a monarchy.
