Moderation Questions
The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic failed, and it became a general discussion thread with almost no moderation related posts at all. And those that were posted were so buried in non-mod posts that it became a huge time drain on the mods to sort through them. Then, when off topic posts were deleted posters complained about that.
This led to the closing of the mod discussion thread, replaced by the post report/pm approach. This has filtered out lots of noise, but has resulted at times in the General Discussion Thread turning into a quasi-mod thread. This is not desirable, but going back to the old mod thread is also not a workable option.
Therefore, I have created this new moderation thread, but with a different purpose and ground rules than previous mod threads. The purpose of this thread is to provide a place for posters to pose questions to the mods about how policies are applied; to bring to the mods attention posts they think are inappropriate and reach the level of requiring mod action; and for mods to communicate to posters things like changes or clarifications to policies, bannings, etc.
Now let me tell you what this thread is NOT a place for. It is not for nonmoderation related posts, even if the discussion originates from a comment in in a mod related post. It is not for posters to post their opinions about other posters or whether a poster should be banned. It is not to rehash past grievances about mod decisions from months or years ago. The focus of this thread will be recent posts that require action now. Or questions about current policies and enforcement.
So basically, this is a thread to ask mods questions. Which means, pretty much that only mods should be answering those questions. If a poster asks why a particular post was deleted or allowed, only a mod can answer that. Everyone else who wants to jump in with their opinion or their mod war story needs to stay out of it. It just increases the noise to signal ratio and does nothing to answer the question.
Everyone needs to understand that this thread has very different rules than the old mod thread and any other thread. Any non-moderation post will be deleted on sight. Not moved to the appropriate thread, just deleted. So don't waste your time crafting a masterpiece post about wars or transgender issues or the presidential election and then post it in this thread. It will be gone. Also, this isnt a thread for general commentary about our mods performance. Posting "browser sucks as a mod" or any such posts that don't actually ask about a policy or request a mod action will be deleted. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about the moderation of this forum. But this thread isnt for complaining about mods. You are free to go to the ATF forum and make your concerns about modding in this forum there.
So with that intro, this thread is open for those who need to bring questions about mod policies or bring inappropriate posts to the mods attention. Again, it is NOT a thread for group discussions about other posters or for other posters to answer questions directed to mods.
We'll see how this goes. If you have what you feel is an open issue raised in the General Discussion Thread, please copy that post or otherwise reintroduce the issue here.
Thanks.
You seem confused about pain, luxury, and politics. It’s the people who only have a casual relationship to pain that can afford to live in the political illusion.
Politics is a necessary aspect of reality. Still, one cannot impose their will on reality in any lasting way through the political, no matter how much money or power you have access to.

I don't think t_d is confused, but if he is, this inscrutable post almost certainly did nothing to alleviate his confusion.
hey i just realized coordi's been mod for a few days now without any threads that i'm aware of calling him the next iteration of hitler
so congrats on sunrunning your first few days in office or your amazing gestapo skills at quietly shutting down dissent
I never said anything about whether I was ever confused by reality. I have claimed to be confused almost always by your posts.
That’s the point. You’ve probably stated this about my posts 5+ times now.
Reality is confusing at the deeper level. Communicating about deeper levels of reality will inevitably be confusing. The fact that you can’t get past this tells me you must believe reality is clear, which is why I will ask you again - do you claim to not be confused about reality?

I am perhaps slightly bemused, the only word in the English dictionary that perfectly summarizes the feelings you get when trying to look up its precise meaning.

I will admit that luxury sometimes confuses me, mostly because much of it just seem so damn cumbersome.
Also, we seem to be in a completely different conversation now than we were just one post ago, but I'm not complaining.
Also, I don’t see myself being above discussing politics. That’s why I’ve participated here, but the political topic I care most about currently, which is assimilation in multicultural societies — this thread got locked here in less than an hour.
It’s insane to me that the educated class thinks the topic of assimilation has been solved or doesn’t need to be addressed. Simply calling people a racist is no longer going to work moving forward.
I actually care about making multiculturalism work, which requires an appreciation for solving how to unite a multicultural society from the ground up.

Multiculturalism works except where there are bigots who refuse to accept multiculturalism. Its quite simple.
Don't treat your neighbor like trash.

Coordi has been VERY good

“Calling people racist is no longer working, so I’ll just call them a bigot instead, but only in one direction.”
Cultural tensions and clashes are not simply about race or bigotry. Culture is actually a thing that matters.
The Dems either accept this truth or continue their descent.

Well, in the US, the multicultural bigotry is one way. It goes both ways in places where religious refugees lash out at citizens for their cultural differences.
I really don't think there is going to be a new paradigm here. The bigots desperately want that to be the case but my sneaking suspicion is that this presidency is going to go more and more off the rails until the majority remember why Trump was the least liked President in all of history.
There will be an overwhelming swing back to progressivism, as there typically tends to be when conservative **** brains **** everything up

what makes you think the swing won't instead be toward centrist democrats? do you really think progressivism has room in current and near future america?
while it's very reasonable to think there will be a swing back in favor of democrats it's quite absurd to think it will be in favor of progressives.
rather, it will be centrists who don't play the horrid lurid pronouns game, who love capitalism, who love the militaries, but are democrats and moderate in foreign policy and can behave themselves in public.
purple seats will be up to grab and it will those kind of people winning them, not the trash progressives. not the people obsessed with trans issues nor the people who want the federal government to pay for illegals healthcare.
the house will very very very probably flip in 2026 but it will be 5,10,20 centrist democrats winning against moderate republicans (and some freak) .
and you won't get back SCOTUS for a generation or more so be ready for a semi-permanent upheaval in the legal realm with no "progressive" bending at all, for decades.
executive power won't have the violent absurd reach you love ever again in your life (or at least for 30+ years). gvmnt agencies will be handicapped severely with no recourse. attempts to violent push the whole nation toward progressive outcomes using the federal government will be outlawed completely.

Centrism is about 10 orders of magnitude more progressive than what we are currently getting so that would still count as an overwhelming swing to progressivism, in my opinion.
People just want to be able to afford food and housing and they were told pet eating immigrants and government sponsored transition surgeries were the cause of all their problems.
Only the most brainwashed of follower and literal ****ing nazis want to turn their back on the whole world and get in bed with Russia.

Communicating with you about anything -- deeper reality, politics, baseball, the weather, anything really -- is bound to be confusing because you are consistently obscure and vague. And if someone tries to guide you in the direction of giving direct answers to direct questions, you usually disappear.
Perhaps you hope that this method of communication will convey profundity. It does not, at least in my opinion.

Multicultural issues go beyond ethnicity and immigration. The Woke are a different culture than traditional American culture, and there is plenty of bigotry there too.

I don’t know what you are looking for from me at this point? Your opinion has been noted. It had already been noted.
Was there an implied “..or else” that you were expecting me to agree with, to get me to conform or something?
