If Wagner belongs then Jansen and Kimbrel both have to get in and neither of those two idiots belong in the HOF

I think Kimbrel has a legit case.

Jansen less so. Didn’t do it for long enough.

Kimbrel definitely has, though… with a stupid career K/9

Because if you don’t think ichiro Suzuki (among other examples of people who were left off the ballot) belongs in the hall of fame you shouldn’t be allowed to vote on who does

ok but that's one idiot and one vote. you have 75 percent of people thinking Billy Wagner and Jack Morris are all of famers. You have David Ortiz who was roided out of his mind getting in first ballot but Arod Clemens and Bonds who were all way better than him can't get in.

With Ichiro we're literally talking about one dumb vote. With other players we're talking about dozens or hundreds of votes that make zero sense.

FFS Bonds and Clemens at minimum should always have gotten the exact same amount of votes. If someone is hard core anti-PEDs i disagree with them but at least be consistent. Yet we had guys voting for Bonds and not Clemens or Clemens and not Bonds. How is that even possible?

I'm not gonna get upset about one vote when there is tons of terrible voting across the board.

I've seen it suggested that maybe this person knew Ichiro was a shoe-in and used their vote to try to help someone else stay on the ballot?

the only justification for this is if they actually used all 10 votes.

That's the only justification for someone changing their vote from one year to the next. Yet guys change votes all the time without using all 10 votes.

I remember ages ago when people still read lol newspapers reading some writers nominees and why he was voting for them.
One of the players (I think it was Jim Kaat) he was voting for bc it was his 15th year (back when you got 15) on the ballot and it was his last chance to get in. But he hadn't voted for him previously. Just infuriating stuff.

And the writers voting is still a way better system than the veterans committee which is just 15 or so drunken dipshits voting for their buddies.

that's gonna get Andruw in. Glavine is part of the vets committee and another Braves legend iirc.

#mycubbies getting Ryan Pressly. I promise you will be disappointed, as that slider doesn't work going forward.

Didn't give up much for him, Houston eating $5.5m, and bullpen was definitely a problem last year. I think he'll help.

You folks have probably seen this before, and have a good idea on who player B is.

Ichiro is a no-brainer, unanimous HOFer. Player B was off the ballot after 1 year, having less than 5% of the vote.

Player B needs to be in HOF

Lofton?

Lofton?

Yup

lol ichiro would have been an MLB regular 7 years before that though

Scherzer to the Blue Jays.

It’ll be interesting to see just what he has left.

If the answer proves to be anything better than "not much", 1 year at 15.5 million is most reasonable. I'd take that gamble.

He has left a midseason injury followed by a trip to the glue factory.

Lofton was one of my all time favorites. And every year some team would scoop him up for their playoff roster.

Tigazzz sign Flaherty for the next 1-2 years. If they also lock up Bregman they are JUGGERNAUTS.

Somewhere GREEAR is smiling.

Shades of immaculate genius.

Bregman's three-year, $120 million contract with the Red Sox is tied (with Aaron Judge) for the 6th biggest contact based on annual value.

There are reports a lot of money is deferred and the present-day value of the contract is about $90 million.

Also, Bregman has opt-outs.

I’d expect nothing less from Scott Boras.

I’d rather be represented by Jerry Maguire though.

Bregman definitely betting on himself, Tigers offered him more years and more money but no first year opt out.

From the team side I think the Red Sox got a terrific deal. I'd rather not commit to a six year deal for a player who's 31.

As a stros guy, lol. He's not good. Definitely not $40mil good.

I missed that the Braves signed Jurickson Profar to a three year deal.

I like it. Not ready to say the light bulb finally went off for him as a post hype prospect sleeper… but I’ve seen enough of Kelenic in left field. Plus, AcuΓ±a might not be ready by opening day.

I’m calling my shottttttt.

Mets are winning a minimum of 100 regular season games.

Pirates arguably have the most exciting young position player and pitcher in baseball with Cruz and Skenes along with a bunch of other great youngsters. I'm taking a flyer on them to take down the shitty NL central at 10-1.
