In other news
In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there are important, interesting or just plain weird things happening out there and a group of people can find these better than one.
I thought I would test with a thread for linking general news articles about "other news" and discussion. Perhaps it goes into the abyss that is page 2 and beyond, but it is worth a try.
Some guidelines:
- Try to find the "clean link", so that links to the news site directly and not a social media site. Avoid "amp-links" (google).
- Write some cliff notes on what it is about, especially if it is a video.
- It's not an excuse to make outlandish claims via proxy or link extremist content.
- If it's an editorial or opinion piece, it is polite to mark it as such.
- Note the language if it is not in English.
- There is no demand that such things be posted here, if you think a piece merits its own thread, then make one.
Talking about eggs was dumb for Trump and it's not really that smart now. Everyone knows the prices of eggs had to do with the avian flu.
And anyone thinking that prices of eggs going down would be some great thing for Trump even if it were true in the middle of a tariff war that he started with the USA's two largest trading partners is completely brain dead.
Mind boggling how anyone can not be completely on the **** TRUMP bandwagon, but man, especially so for Canadians.
Are you saying that secular people don't make decisions based on underlying beliefs? Or discriminatory ones? Because they do. Any time a politician or judge makes a decision, they're rank ordering things in terms of importance, whether it's religious or not.
There are differing interpretations of constitutional law (textualism vs originalism, for example) that have nothing to do with religion, yet a judge may fundamentally believe that one holds more weight than the other, because of their own ph
- Unlike personal beliefs , religion forces you to believe and act in a mandatory way that often goes against equality , secularism and rule of law while promoting many discriminations.
So stop…
- Pro choice and death penalty, how can it be more similar ain’t it ….

oh I had missed this very very very very good post
Montreal, leftists are FAR more dogmatic and take many more ideological purity tests about topica and people in their life than people on the right ever do, it's not even vaguely close especially in the USA.
the actual chronically dogmatic, insufferable "morally superior" , taunting tribe is the left, with a huge gap vs everyone else.
and you prove that by mentioning "equality" as it is was obvious that was a value in any topic of society, which is what religious people do
Oh c'mon eggs were way more expensive under crooked Joe Sleepy, who was too busy funding something transgender related involving rodents. Trump may have gotten into bed with Putin and betrayed Ukraine and alienated Europe and plunged the world markets into uncertainty but bringing the price of eggs down makes it all worthwhile. And I say this as someone who hates eggs, but if I did like them and was American and loved Trump and was extremely isolationist, whose world view was shaped by what I read on X, I'd be one happy...egg consumer.
We wanted Assad out so bad and now we have ISIS literally going town to town murdering and raping people indiscriminately...mostly Christians. These are the guys the left is defending and that we funded under Obama.
This video is disturbing: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DG_2rChzv...
they mostly murdered Alawites but also some Christians and Shia.
the commie left aka the tankies opposed this stuff for over a decade.
it promotes treating men and women differently because they are .... objectively different.
it doesn't promote discrimination against either men or women though.
believing gender roles make sense because our biology underpins them isn't "unequal" you dumb commie.
you are a health professional so you know how better breast feeding is vs formula, and that alone would suggest women take different career paths than men for the good of humanity, because any job path where you can't nurse 4-6 times per day (so where you can't bring your 6 month old with you and so on) isn't a job a fertile age woman who wants or has children should take.
objectively again, based on the actual measurable reality of our species.
You don't think people have non-religious personal beliefs that are so deeply held that essentially force people to "act in a mandatory way that often goes against equality , secularism and rule of law while promoting many discriminations"?

Christianity and Judaism and Islam all say men should be the boss in a million ways you dipsh*t. How is it that you people who call themselves libertarians end up being religious fanatics so often?

Christianity doesn't anymore since at least 50+ years ago .
the bad part of Christianity became the left with it's dogmatism and extreme attitude toward being willing to use state violence to enforce morality.
the left is doing to society what religious right-wing people tried to do to it 100-150 years ago, except they can dodge the church-state division while doing that whixh makes them immensely more dangerous to freedom than religion has ever been since we became democracies in the west.
why don't you see that the left is the worst religion that was ever developed by far?
btw I am not religious because I abhor authority in general. but I don't deny that classic religions at least had some good ideas because those were root d in reality as tools to cope with the difficulty of life, unlike the left which is utterly and directly anti-human and distopic to the maximum, the biggest self-made threat humanity ever faced, currently able to make most societies not have babies anymore

I’m saying people who have that , should not be allowed promoting it in public services.
That goes for Nazism , kkk, communism, religion, w.e the f .
Do you believe in secularism or not ?
My point is :
to make believe religion isn’t subject to what you enumerate is false .
Religions are full with discriminatory which are even worst , because those beliefs and choices by choice are mandatory and are imposed .
That goes even deeper being against individual freedom .
And my main point , is those that just can’t put aside by themselves religious references while being in office are subject to even more suspicions by me to be able to be neutral .
And that goes for all religions.
In public services u serve many people , neutrality should be necessary with a certain decorum .
People that get served as a « costumer(tax payer) » can do , dress up , w.e how they see fit for them .
Of course .
Last 50 years lol ?
Gay, abortion, etc.
And again done people might try to diverge the point but it’s about all religions.
FWIW:
To make sure freedom of religion to be protected , you need the state to be secular . Unable to favour any religion over another .
And to protect a democracy from theocracy , you need the religions to be expelled out of the government duties .
Both are reciprocally enforcing each other value .
I know he's said some things along those lines, I just don't believe him. I know he's not praying to jeebus every night, but among his many horrible attitudes is some sort of Western Chauvanism that has some kind of Christian Values thing. Which is why he always defends Christianity and then does that idiotic thing where he rails about the religion of leftism.

We just have massive amounts of example of you using state violence to eradicate everyone that think and believe differently then you …even by shooting them to death .
And you come here blaming the left for what exactly ?
What, where or who represent the left menacing to kill peoples for their political agendas like you do ?
