Donald J. Trump (For everyone else)
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
Perhaps, but his meme coins were straight-up cash transfers (bribes?) to his wallet. No other reason to start a scam coin except to cash in.
I think that was to have other people around him make money and it's highly probable it was them pushing the idea not trump necessarily.
Trump is waiting for the right time to sell DJT to Musk or someone like him though, for 5-6 billions at least for himself and his family
Musk is like, "I didn't give you $300 million to lose $300 billion. Start pimping my shiit."
Reading the comments on those tweets is hilarious. Gas-guzzling MAGAs are now praising "soyboy electric cars." Doesn't get any funnier.

Well of course it was Barron who sold him on the idea. Did you see Trump in the Tesla? He doesn't know his head from his ass with technology, but the massive immediate rise followed by the massive immediate fall of the coin indicates some shady shiit was going on.

the true scan was Melania coin (and to this day we don't know yet who cashed in on that and it's very non-obvious it was Trump immediate circle).
Trump coin is actually surprising because it isn't at 0 yet. Banally insiders sold some to take in some profits after the first day mega-jump, and now the coin is depressed just because all crypto is depressed.

Lmao if you think the Trump coin wasn't a scam. The reason why Trump coin didn't hit 0 is because a bunch of old ladies who bought with their debit cards are holding.

I bet my life not a single MAGA guns and trucks clownass will buy a Tesla

Melania coin was launched by Melania through her company MKT World but likely used the same token team as Trump.

trump was flipping out with Christie over a few mil--that they were basically obligated to spend. There's no chance Billions drifted by him with his/her names on it without him taking a big slice lol
Lol
Donald Trump has halted a plan to double US tariffs on Canadian steel and metal imports to 50%, just hours after first threatening them.
the only time I read a paper that convinced me tariffs could be good for the economy, it was about south Korea when they tried to develop domestic manufacturing in the catch up phase to the rest of the world after the Korean war.
I can't find the literature now but it was convincing, in the sense that without tariffs, foreign competition was too developed and finely tuned to ever allow manufacturing to become strong domestically, and that was a time when developing manufacturing was literally the
Sure, I can get behind this. I’m just saying that the argument of “fastest growing country did x therefore x is good” is actually quite specious reasoning. without proffering a causal mechanism for it (like you did) there’s really nothing to learn from such a statement other than there is a possibility that those two things are related in some way (though not necessarily related at all or there could be a third thing that is the cause of both).

This is quite similar to doing a "reset" of the US economy b/c Argentina did something like this and it worked for them. Guys on 'What Are Your Thoughts?' were just talking about this. Starts @ 24:15 if interested:

Its crazy how single minded you all are with these thoughts and how pervasive a singular thought can spread throughout you all like some game of ****** telephone.
Lets skip the deep dive and let me question you this:
What good is 4% GDP growth if your inflation is 25%? Why would we want to repurpose our global powerhouse economy to match developing nation? You do realize that the Argentinian economy is worse than our in every way imaginable, right?

Charts are different
Trump coin start way high and just kept tumbling since the first day …
Please don’t cherry pick March with stupid trump tariffs ….everything is down .
Argentina had a 292% inflation rate (now down to like 85%), so surely, USA with an inflation rate of 3% and hasn't been over 4% for 2 years, needs to take some lessons from Argentina.

If only the U.S. was as facked as Argentina ….
Easy to grow much higher when you are at the bottom (Argentina).
The U.S. was already the best economy in the world when trump came in office .
Now it wasn’t the best American economy in history but it was the best positioning in the world ?
They just love comparing Apple and orange but when it comes to guns owning and crimes, universal healthcare , or whatever else , now we can’t compare the U.S. to anyone shrug .
Much harder to grow from 1 trillion to 2 trillions then 1 million to 2 million ain’t it .

As I'm sure you have noticed, Milei fetishism is quite common among "intellectual" Trump supporters.

Also, I lolled about this news where he was intending to promote a plan for "growth" to a roundtable of CEOs and business executives. In his opening remarks.... "Tariffs having 'tremendously positive' impact, says Trump"

Must be medication for mental illness :p
Can you imagine if Biden would have act so erratically himself what he would of been called by maga …

Yeah, and I think Luciom loves him.
I have libertarian sympathies myself and am not afraid to use the word "libertarian" despite how supposed libertarians like Milei are religious fanatics who love nothing more than a stormtrooper.
Of course those sympathies doesn't mean I'm in favor of the kind of radical abrupt sociopathic austerity programs.

You pretty much nailed it
They have 1/10th our population and 1/100th our GDP.
I didn't watch the video, but anything like a "reset" being a possibility has more to do with inflation than the absolute size of the economy. With almost 300% inflation one should at least be thinking about radical changes in Argentina. Nothing like that has been happening in the USA. The runniest of the run away inflation during COVID was 9%, and, like I said, it's been under 4% for two years now.

That would go against all your beliefs isn’t it ? 😀
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese...
The distinguishing characteristics of the Japanese economy during the "economic miracle" years included: the cooperation of manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and banks in close-knit groups called keiretsu; the powerful enterprise unions and shuntō; good relations with government bureaucrats, and the guarantee of lifetime employment (shūshin koyō😉 in big corporations and highly unionized blue-collar factories.
And yet, that's what's actually happening. Trump and Elon are doing the radical thing and firing everyone and just chopping things and waiting to see what falls apart as if none of the functions of the US Government are any more important than Twitter.

Canada backed down on electricity duties.
Not sure of the precise order of events.
Announcing the decision to suspend the electricity duties, Ford said he thought it was the "right decision" to try to start focus the discussions on the wider North American free trade deal.
"With any negotiation that we have, there's a point that both parties are heated and the temperature needs to come down," he said, thanking Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick for reaching out about a meeting.
"They understand how serious we are," he added. "We have both agreed, let cooler heads prevail. We need to sit down and move this forward."
