Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
What are you whining about, Luciom? You have the green light to be as fascist as you want now. Be happy.
No, it's not even close to being arguable. There would be endless lawsuits flying around right now if it was even close to being close, but it's not.
In the US the test is based on Brandenburg v Ohio 1969, which means you have to be inciting 'imminent lawless action' to forgo the protection of the First Amendment. General statements, however obnoxious, won't do it.

I’m on vacation, my little edgelords
And that no Palestinians have ever made genocidal statements or that you never saw " absolute glee in the suffering in others" from them?
Statements???? We're talking about statements???? Not actual genocide, which we just saw Israel carry out in real time on social media and judged to be genocide by respected jurists - but you want to center statements????
Tell me you torture small animals without telling me you torture small animals.
It kinda just registered with me that Homeland Security arrested someone with a green card even though he has not been charged with a crime. I heard it like 2 days ago but now it's setting in. Green card holders have rights, the same rights any citizen with respect to detainment and freedom of expression.
If they can arrest someone with a green card for criticizing a mass casualty assault on a civilian population then they can arrest anyone arbitrarily. How am I wrong?
I think it’d be wise for you to leave me tf alone

The govt was supposed to present their case to the judge today and there is a hearing scheduled for Wednesday. I feel if they had presented their case we would have heard about it by now. So not sure what is going on. I guess we will find out at the hearing tomorrow what the charges are.

Trump admin has been making it policy to violate the Constitution and see what they can get away with. The only question is how long until they tell the Judiciary to **** off.
This hypothetical is going to fail most likely but I feel compelled to put it out there. Say you're a Zionist. Say further you accept the concomitant racism that goes along with the removal of millions of people from a place they've been, as a people, for some long amount of time (whatever amount) on a racil/ethnic basis. Now you're in bed with Trump and co.. They want what you want, they say. They are cooperating with you and you with them and everything seems to be working out. BUT you know, deep down, that people like Musk and Bannon are deeply antisemitic, right? You know that if they had their druthers, if they could do whatever fantasy scenario they can imagine with impunity, that the first thing they would do bomb is Brooklyn and nuke Israel. You know that, deep down, right?
You as a Zionist have entered in a strategic partnership in racial realism, but you know the real deal, right? And you further know that all the people protesting the assault on Gaza, that they would protect Jewish people against antisemitism and hatred, right? I suppose we can't have little timeouts where we were honest because that would break the façade, but to me it's a nice thought.
that sounds a bit weird

I've posted about this a ton. People like mets were cool with John Hagee at the March for Israel. I just posted about Calin Georgescu in Romania who supports Israel, but whose heroes were the people responsible for the Romanian Holocaust.
The antisemites don't have nearly the problem with Jews over there in Israel where they belong in the same way people like the white nationalist Senator Thomas Bilbo tried to send black people to Africa in the late 1930s.
Whether they are apocalyptic Christians who think that Jewish control of the holy land is essential for the 2nd coming or antisemites who think that Jews don't belong in white Christian nations, these *******s have been welcomed by a lot of foolish Jewish people.
Let the book burning begin...

Bannon yes, Musk lolololol no . You know the latest child he just had? St. Clair (the mother) is jew. You know who Musk biggest partner in the twitter acquisition was? The other man who is pushing to drop Delaware as the location to have corporate HQ, the other "big guy" behind the destruction of DEI? Ackman, an ashkenazi Jew.
And btw Bannon makes no mystery of his deep hatred of Musk, and his deep disagreements about core policies, and insulted Musk repeatedly recently, so anyone who thinks Bannon and Musk are in some kind of "partnership" or even the same political tribe is living in an unreal fantasy completly detached from reality.
Don’t support this operation, but it is far from black and white issue.
Does any and every book deserve protection, just on the merit of the form of publication? Should a book calling for the murder of Jews receive protection?
I get the analogy between book burning in Germany in the 1930's, to this raid, but this issue merits a deeper discussion than just – its books so its wrong
Btw, just to give context, because ofc Jal will only bring a part of the story, the operation was done without receiving permission from the Prosecutor's Office to open an investigation, and the Prosecutor's Office made it clear that it opposes this and believes that enforcement against possession of inciting materials should be reduced to a bare minimum, if any, and that enforcement should not be carried out against possessors.
Already got it for junior family members.

A modicum of google would've stopped you from writing such garbage.

hmm sure seemed pretty black and white yesterday counselor
Even in Israel, the call from the river to the sea is legal and the protesters' right to this call cannot be denied. Of course, if the call is part of incitement to violence, it may amount to a criminal offense.
But our Supreme Court has ruled that the right to protest and the use of such calls is legitimate.
This does not rule out that everyone who calls from the river to the sea is an anti-Semitic scum who hates Jews, or a quisling.
should be an easy case that brings with it international acclaim given the reputation of this book store in liberal circles. maybe these guys need a lawyer.
Idiots, this is not the books that was calling for the murder of Jews, and lol at proving me wrong by a "google search".
I attached this photo because it made me lol in real life, and just to see how your side brainwashed kids.
I actually read the request for an extension of detention and the evidence attached to it. Two books are allegedly glorifying Hamas resistance and their operations throughout the years
