New York City Area Hype Discussion
Did a quick check but apologies if this already exists, also might be a little premature either way but- given the movem
I'm sure you saw that the City Council did approve it yesterday?Honestly, as long as we get one casino with poker that gets a license this year, that's all I really care about. The 3rd one likely is going to take a minimum of 2-3 years from getting a license, anyways. Will be interesting to watch the 3rd play out, though.I feel like the political climate and the potential of los
I hadn’t seen but thank you for adding a bright spot to my morning
You are gonna have to offer serious odds to get someone to take the others side.
Heck probably get balanced action with an over under of July 1 2026. I might even take the over on Jan 1 2027
There are plenty of folks trying to delay as long as possible.
At this point I'll believe NYC is gonna have casinos when I'm standing inside of one.
Addabbo moves anti sweepstake bill out of committee, coupled with acknowledgement online legalization almost definitely not happening this year, somehow we’re getting fewer options not more :(

We had a $1 wager on it being Jan 1 2024 I think LOL.

Bill introduced into the State Senate for Citifield proposal, one more sign Ramos’ opposition might not matter

Oh, interesting, thanks for passing that along. This actually seems to be big news, to even get to this point of having the bill introduced. It's good a decent shot, at at least. Cohen just needs to grease some more wheels and it will happen eventually
Interesting and surprising development re: Wynn HY

Maybe not as bad of a dog as I had thought. That's exciting.
Much less significantly, Saks on 5th has dropped out lol
As much as I would love a Manhattan location, given how insanely expensive Hudson Yards real estate is, and based on how they’ve approached poker in Boston, I’d probably prefer Steve Cohen in Queens over the Wynn.

I'd rather have Hard Rock, but in Manhattan lol. That's just selfishness, though, because I live in Manhattan. It's tough to know what to make of Wynn, they're so awful re:poker in Boston, but so good in Vegas.
Ideally, it would be Caesars in Times Square or Mohegan near the UN, for me at least
Not really new news so much as expanding on the last update, but Ramos publicly acknowledging this makes me think at the very least the parkland to commercial bill gets through legislature
Sands is out, but willing to transfer their right to bid on a license for the site.

Good riddance. From their statement: "they are concerned about the impact of the potential legalization of iGaming on the market and projected returns."
Let's hope whoever gets the licenses helps actually get online poker in NY over the finish line...Sands would have been a sand in the gears for years...
Nassau aint happening. Smart money is the two existing casinos and either city field or maaaaaybe manhattan getting the third
Wow, what idiots. I guess Shelly is still running the company from the grave. **** em
Certainly seems like Citi Field has the inside track on the 3rd license despite the need for the additional legislation. Judging (pun) by his unrelenting pursuit of Juan Soto this offseason, he is not a man that is denied easily. And I say this as a Yankee fan.
But who knows, this is actually getting quite interesting now! I think Wynn has a shot, too, and who knows who else. It seems like the only ones truly out are Ballys, Saks and Coney. Haven't heard anything about Caesar's Times Square recently, which is somewhat suspicious.

Rezoning bill for CitiField makes it out of committee. 2 months left for it to pass into law on the senate and assembly floor. Continues to look like Uncle Stevie may be a favorite
Yup smart money is yonkers resorts world and citi field getting the three licenses

Yep, came here to share this

"The bill’s possible passage is a moment with little precedent for the state legislature, which often defers to the wishes of local lawmakers on land use decisions."
That line did it for me. The fix is in, folks
East side Manhattan proposal offers exclusive opportunity for Manhattan residents to become shareholders. Interesting, probably doesn’t move the needle though
