Stupid Biden and his stupid Strong stock market, and his better inflation recovery than other developed countries, and his Victoria Silvstedt Playmate of the Year...****!

Agents from the Department of Homeland Security detained Khalil, a Palestinian activist and recent Columbia University graduate, at his apartment building Saturday night, claiming that his student visa had been revoked. When Khalil's wife produced his green card, showing that he was a lawful permanent resident, the agents said that was revoked, too. They also threatened to arrest his wife, a U.S. citizen who is reportedly eight months pregnant.

According to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement online system, Khalil is currently being held at a detention facility in Jena, La. The reason for his detainment is unknown, because the DHS agents did not provide one. This violation of civil liberties clearly stems from Khalil's pro-Palestine activism, and on Sunday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio made the connection explicit, disparaging Khalil as a "Hamas supporter." [...] the reason shared by the White House was even vaguer and delivered in more tortured language: He "led activities aligned to Hamas." With this, as well as Speaker Mike Johnson comparing Khalil to "an aspiring young terrorist"

[...] Essentially, the U.S. government boasted about kidnapping a Palestinian because he was critical of Israel. "This is the first arrest of many to come," Trump wrote in a statement on Monday.

[...] In his statement, New York Rep. Hakeem Jeffries chose to accept the premise that Khalil merited punishment at all.

Illegal protest bro

We did it, Victor!

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich. penned and circulated a letter demanding the immediate release of the recent Columbia University graduate.

It found little support among Tlaib’s colleagues in Washington, with a mere 14 Democrats signing their names on the letter condemning Khalil’s detention as an “illegal abduction.”

Instead, statements from prominent Democrats suggest much of the party is taking the Trump administration’s targeting of Khalil in good faith.

Rep. Adriano Espaillat, D-N.Y., who counts Khalil as one of his constituents, did not sign the letter. When contacted by The Intercept about the case, Espaillat said he expects the Trump administration – which has explicitly flouted and sought to circumscribe federal legal protections for civil liberties – to adhere to the rule of law.

[...] In a statement on Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., condemned Khalil’s activism and “antisemitic actions at Columbia,” without providing examples of those actions.

[...] The Trump administration itself has admitted the case against Khalil does not hinge on allegations that he broke the law and told a conservative news outlet that it will these proceedings as a blueprint to target other students.

[...] In response to a tweet on Monday from the Senate Judiciary Democrats calling to free Khalil, Fetterman replied: “Free all the hostages who have been tortured, starved, raped, beaten and STILL in tunnels in Gaza by Hamas since October 7th, 2023.”

it's a bipartisan effort, bro. we did it, joe

When you've lost Ann Coulter...

“There’s almost no one I don’t want to deport, but unless they’ve committed a crime, isn’t this a violation of the First Amendment?” Coulter said on the social platform X

(majority report ^)

huh sounds like congress is about to just give up and let these guys do whatever they want. very kool

whats to stop apartheid clyde from just firing them all? literally nothing, probably

Rand Paul probably votes NO, Fetterman votes YES. That's 53. Need 7 more Dem Senators to bitch up. Almost certainly going to be able to find them between Ossoff, Peters, etc. Wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being like 75-25 or worse. I'd say unbelievable cowardice but it's pretty believable honestly.

Ain't no ****ing way...

I fucking despise John Fetterman

If dems could successfully mobilize to primary all but maybe 10 of these imbeciles starting with and especially Hakeem ‘not the dream’ Jeffries thatd be swell

by StoppedRainingMen m

I ****ing despise John Fetterman

Save a little outrage because it probably won't just be Fetterman.

Most likely outcome is the Dems agree to gives Republicans a handful of votes to bypass the Filibuster in exchange for a few meaningless votes on their preferred version of the CR. Republicans vote them all down (duh), then vote 53-47 (Fetterman and Paul swap) to pass the 6 month bill.

Now is the time for the Bernie wing of the Democrats to take power.

Chuck Schumer just handed the government to Trump and Mollusk without any resistance. Yes let's stop this bad thing of shutting down the government to avoid the bad thing giving Trump full control hey wait a minute.

I'm down for some guerilla warfare if the US invades. I'd travel to America and take a big ole dump on CPHoya's face!

more like cuck gooner

sure glad all these worthless ****s decided that doing a genocide was way more important than stopping any of this

To be clear, this was happening either way. Dems should probably vote for a shutdown just to further this mess and in the hopes Republicans will have to own it, but don't think for a second a shuttered government isn't ideal for Trump/Elon.

Schumer (and all the others) are right when they say it's lose/lose. You either vote to keep the government open and enable this **** or vote to close it and let Elon do his thing with literally no mechanism in place to stop him. There isn't a third "it's going to get better" vote to cast here. The shutdown vote is symbolic, but thats all it is.

Invest in Euro defense stocks, gold, Tim Hortons, Arby's etc.

lolcanada update

for context - because of our undemocratic electoral system, it's possible to form a majority government with like 37% of the national vote, probably less, and you can win a minority government in the low 30s. anyway for a bunch of reasons the conservative party has been coasting in the 40-45% range for years, poised to take absolute power whenever the next election happened

december pole: con ~45%, lib ~25%

then liberal party leader trudeau quit, and more importantly, orangeman and apartheid clyde put some werk in

new smarch pole: lib ~46%, con ~32%

liberals might even be leading in alberta, which is canada's most maga province lmao. get ****ed, make canada maga jackasses

cuck gooner is a maga collaborator
